7 Building Section
8 I enjoy all the outdoor reading areas Would like to see local brick or stone Like the C.A. Smith castle building or Coldspring granite I really appreciate the library relationship to the parkway. Strengthen the relationship of the Library to the south. Keep in mind the bus route along 44th Ave. the importance of a south entrance presence I liked idea of using granite and wood A granite building with wood Community Comments
9 Readily accessible to both Camden neighborhoods and the Victory Memorial walking and bike path Respond to residential scale to the south and create civic presence to the parkway system to the north Exterior to include all natural materials stone, zinc and wood Use of natural materials creates timeless aesthetic and will age gracefully over time Tall central space for General Collections, Teen, Technology and Children s areas with lower building height at staff and support areas Optimal north /south orientation of library Clerestory windows for maximum daylighting within public areas Open floor plan for greater flexibility to accommodate changing library needs Surrounding exterior plazas with landscaping and gardens for outdoor reading areas Large entry canopies to provide protection from the elements and minimize glare from the sun Canopies are supported on a series of slender wood-faced columns to create front porch and is symbolic of the alley of trees along Victory Memorial Parkway Creates urban front /fabric along Humboldt Avenue North with extensive landscaping Designed to be energy efficient, durable and low maintenance Design Narrative
