As the island offers some of the most stunning sea and sky vistas in the Maldives, this was something the client wished to reflect. With rooms scheduled to be handed over for the Christmas season, time was of the essence. We produced an initial mock-up for all finishes and fabrics, then introduced several value engineered options to keep within budget. After placing bulk orders at our manufacturing centres for all rooms, we moved on to public-area furniture before providing exquisite pieces for the ultra-luxurious rooms. This was all made possible thanks to the support of our trusted logistics partners. The project was a triumph of communication and cost control, and the property continues to garner fabulous reviews. 2

5 Kandima Maldives All-new lifestyle resort characterised by vibrant colours and plentiful activities Location: South Nilandhe Atoll (Dhaalu) Size: 450 rooms Brief: Fit out this beachside resort with unique, impressive furniture Sensational Kandima Island is in the Dhaalu Atoll, a short 30-minute flight from Malé International Airport, followed by a 20-minute boat ride to the resort. An existing client of ours, Pulse Resorts, was searching for an innovative, bold design for this project, requiring us to identify new production methods and sourcing special materials. One such feature was the outdoor balcony swing, which had to be made from material that can withstand unpredictable weather with high salinity. Our answer was to manufacture a specialised mechanism made with rust-proof ss316 steel ball bearings. Another unique piece was the banana cabana outdoor seat, which took our master metal workers several weeks to craft into the perfect ergonomic and aesthetic shape. Pulse Resorts was delighted with the results, not least because all the furniture arrived on time and was easy to assemble. 3

6 Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Working hand-in-hand with our client to create the last word in luxury Location: South Ariatoll (Alifu Dhaalu) Size: 150 rooms Brief: Provide only the best pieces for ocean-view villas and a Chinese restaurant The Conrad Maldives Rangali offers deluxe beach accommodation in the form of premium private beach villas and water villas. With its relaxing atmosphere and plentiful open space, the Conrad was always going to be an exciting project to work on. The brand itself is synonymous with high luxury, so it was crucial that we selected the finest hardwoods and other materials. With an ever-growing number of affluent visitors from China visiting the resort each year, the Chinese restaurant had to exude opulence and class to meet expectations. The design of the resort meant we had to manufacture different elements of the same furniture in separate countries, such as solid marble from China and carved wooden frames from Indonesia. This called for immense attention to detail and strong communication between our craftspeople, especially our multi-lingual team in Singapore, much to the delight of the client. 4

7 Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa Innovation meets ocean-side splendour Location: North Male Atoll Size: 176 rooms Brief: Refresh the look of all rooms and the Asian Tea House Restaurant Set on its own island just a 15-minute speedboat trip from Malé International Airport, the Sheraton Maldives resort is surrounded by tropical turquoise waters and its own lagoon. The rooms at this bespoke resort hadn t been renovated in a decade, which gave us the fantastic opportunity to introduce the client to an innovative material used in the manufacturing of high-end furniture resin panels. This material has a range of applications, but is especially suited to internal use as it allows light to pass through and creating a relaxing atmosphere. The panels had to be manufactured at our facility in China, and our craftspeople had only a few weeks to master the nuances of the material. In order to allow for expansion in the warm climes of the Maldives, we altered our installation method, tailoring our service to ensure the client was satisfied with our work. 5

8 W Maldives A taste of the ocean Location: North Ari Atoll (Alifu Alifu) Size: 77 rooms Brief: Renovate land villas and a seafood restaurant, and provide additional furniture The W Maldives is a luxury private island resort in a wonderland of white, sandy beaches and breath-taking coral reefs. The resort is renowned for the excellent quality of its gourmet eateries, especially its seafood restaurant. However, the client desired its renovation. With just six months to complete the project from beginning to end, we took charge of the entire refit, including building menu boards, counters, lobster tanks and, naturally, bespoke furniture. Taking lithe, modern design as our inspiration, we split the manufacturing process between three locations: Malaysia, Indonesia and China. As well as saving time and enabling us to meet the deadline, this showcased the synergy Onestop has developed between our various localities, helping clients to achieve their vision in a timely and cost-effective way. 6

It also holds a special place in the history of the hospitality industry in the Maldives, as it was the country s first ever luxury resort. Since 2011, we have worked closely with the teams at Kurumba, providing additions and alterations to furniture and fittings. The resort is a popular choice for visiting dignitaries and officials, and is famed for the excellence of its cuisine. As such, being only ten minutes away from the airport and capital city, we often take prospective clients to visit Kurumba so they can experience our workmanship for themselves. From elegant poolside furniture, to tastefully decorated luxury rooms, we are proud of our association with this well-established resort. 7

The resort on Velassaru Island was one of the first projects undertaken by Onestop. Back in 2008, there weren t many furniture manufacturers that could produce synthetic wicker furniture, and those that did were expensive as the majority of manufacturing took place in Europe. We instructed our craftspeople in China to produce samples for the client Universal Resorts and, upon seeing the quality of our workmanship, they were eager to partner with us as we could produce quality synthetic wicker furniture for a quarter of the market price. We are proud to have been a part of Universal Resorts supply chain ever since this landmark project, and look forward to future cooperation with them. 8
