2 Project Tinja aims to share its conviction that handcrafted traditions must be rediscovered and that particular attention ought to be given to the richness of the material used, the beauty of its imperfections, the contemplation of nature, the respect of the handmade process, the pleasure of letting things naturally answer it and evolve, and to the time it takes a human hand to tame an element. Therefore, Salah, Zeineb and Yasmine, founders of Tinja, went to explore the rich diversity of Tunisian landscapes to meet these men and women who carry on the traditions. For Tinja is above all a human adventure where enthusiastic collaboration is materialized on the objects of the collection. «This project totally fits us three, it is deeply anchored in our personal identity, in our life experiences, in our sensitivities. We are Tinja, and this project in a part of us. Surprisingly, the fact that this project is a concrete expression of our personnal vision does not mean that other people from other countries or cultures can t be touched by our approach, our products. In fact, we have realized that Tinja can gather a lot of very different people together, sharing this passion for tradition, craft and emotion.» The result fo this work is a unique interior design concept, its credo is: handcrafted modern. Tinja aspires to offer a contemporary interpretation of handicraft traditions existing in Tunisia and those brought by many other cultures and influences throughout the years.

3 Team Behind Tinja lies the tradition of transmission, that of a family which is passionately devoted to reinterpret their Tunisian heritage. First, Salah Sfar, founder and visionary, trained in the Parisian art scene. Zeineb Sfar, fashion designer, colourist, passionate about traveling and textiles. And recently, Yasmine Sfar, interior designer trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The family forms this harmonious trio that instils Tinja's DNA and speaks loud about the importance of tradition as a unifying link between cultures from all over the world.

4 Product Lines Through its collaboration with local craftsmen, Tinja has created seven product lines, each one using a specific material or technique, conferring each line a unique stance on local heritage. «The finish of our pieces is very important to us, we carefully direct our teams to ensure quality meets our requirements by defining a Tinja manufacturing label.»

5 Sejnane Tinja s pottery: between mythical figures and essential shapes. Made by women from the northern regions, who transmits the art of pottery making from mother to daughter.

6 Zitoun Carved using pine or olive wood, this line of cookware, utensils and accessories is designed for daily use in the kitchen.

7 Korsi A line of furniture, which updates vintage shapes by blending them with weavings handmade from wool, halfa and goatskin.

8 Oud This line of olive wood furniture speaks for itself: branches that come together to form a chair, a lamp, a hanger

9 Tmar The influence of Africa resonates through this line of carved palm wood furniture. The sleek form and the uniqueness of the material make this line an essential part of Tinja s collection.

10 Hanout Crates of gently sanded solid wood, that slides into a glossy metal structure gives this line of furniture a workshop feel.

11 Hayek A universe of braided and woven pieces from Tinja combine with natural materials, traditional process and majestic colors.

12 Fokhar A line of ceramics in shimmering and bright colors that perfect match the rest of Tinja s collection.

13 Projects Last project : The Fondouk El Attarine, Medina of Tunis September 2013 Located in the heart of Tunis Medina, the project aims to revive and restore an abandoned place of the Medina and update the fondouk concept anciently shelter, warehouse, hotel, key place of contact for merchants from all over the world. Tinja was chosen because of its care for heritage preservation but also for the new contemporary vision on tradition. Visitors will soon be able to visit the areas made by Tinja: a reading room, a bar & buffet and a shop of antique rugs made in Tunisia. The great majority of the pieces you can find on these spaces where especially created and conceived custom-size for the Fondouk project. It is part of the interior design and decoration consulting section of Tinja. Since it s opening, Fondouk el Attarine became a must for the visitors of the wonderful Medina of Tunis.
