Sve veći broj kulinarskih emisija popularizira različite načine pripreme hrane, a za maksimalnu učinkovitost, tu je niz najmodernijih kuhinjskih uređaja. Savremena kuhinja je direktno povezana sa dnevnim boravkom, što ima velike sociološke prednosti. Kombinacijom umjetnih i prirodnih materijala, te paletom prirodnih boja od žarkih, pa sve do neutralnih tonova možete kombinirati i dobiti kuhinju baš kakvu ste zamislili. Povezivanje kuhinje i dnevnog boravka u jedinstveni, veliki otvoreni prostor danas je gotovo pravilo u gradnji stambenih zgrada, a šank se tu pokazao kao element koji može imati više funkcija te ujedno izgledati lijepo i zanimljivo. Nekad je osnovna funkcija šanka bila da se na njemu gostima služe alkoholna pića. Današnji kućni šank je više kombinacija stola i radne plohe u kuhinji.
