About the Course CD The course CD includes almost all the standard instructors posts from the Online Course, numerous reading resources and many other references. Contents of the Permaculture Design Course CD are listed earlier in this document. The tuition for monitors covers the CD but not the rest of the reading package.monitors may by the reading list at a discount if ordered with their CD. Certificate students receive the CD at no extra cost if they purchase the full reading package. The economy version costs another $150 if students order reading materials individually. We strongly recommend that you compute the total costs before ordering materials retail, because even with some duplications the reading package is usually cheaper. We will not compute these matters for you. MOVING ITEMS FROM THE HARD COPY LIST TO THE CD LIST We are presently in a program to convert a number of hard-copy documents to word processing formats. As we do this, we will add these to the CD list and remove them from the hard copy list. This will be done without notice, with updates to this document on our web page once or twice a year. On request, we will supply copies of the updated version of this document from our computer, sent via as attached Microsoft Word or pdf files. If this becomes a frequent request, we will assess a service fee. You will get all the reading materials in one form or another if you purchase the reading package. As in all permaculture design decisions, we have several reasons for converting as much as possible to CD. 1) We save paper and therefore trees. 2) We save money in printing and in shipping. 3) Savings enable us to reduce the price of the total reading package for students. We hope to continue to reduce the price of the reading package as we develop the CD resource. Future Developments The course CD will, over time, become richer in images and large files of various kinds. This is a substantial advantage because many of our students use free ISPs for their service, which allow only fairly small files to be received as attachments. Besides enriching the course CD, we may decide to develop and produce other kinds of permaculture CDs. Our substantial series of permaculture slide-shows may be converted for individual use. We recently purchased a high-quality slide scanner for this project. And we are considering CDs consisting of permaculture designs, and of standard designs. Some of these projects will depend on the demand for this first CD. If you are particularly interested in such materials, please let us know. Of course you can get many of these materials in other formats already, from our regular offering of papers, our special order catalog, and our list of slide-script shows available for sale.

IMPORTANT: TO REGISTRANTS TO OUR ONLINE PERMACULTURE DESIGN COURSE Students from previous courses have indicated a strong preference to have sample designs available. While no specific design is REQUIRED reading, it is very strongly advisable to have sample designs on hand. We recommend that when you get Special Order Paper #27 (part of the reading package), that you look over the descriptions of the designs and pick two or three that suit your circumstances to order in addition to the reading list. It appears that these are close to essential for successfully completing your design project required for certification. Some years we will have student designs presented early in the course. We now have one full design on the course CD and will add others over time. Give a Permaculture Library or Course Reading List to a group in an economically oppressed country. We have more requests for such literature than we can fill. We will tell recipients the names of donors unless you ask us not to. Ask about making the contribution tax deductible in the US. You may specify a recipient for drop shipment. Otherwise, we will send materials to a suitable group selected at our discretion. Be sure that you have a copy of the current full Yankee Permaculture Price List. Any order for the individual publications, not the full package, must be on our regular order form. You can download it at All our price lists are dated. We usually honor any price on a list that was dated to the previous six months, sometimes much longer. Copies of our price list transmitted by are valid at least six months from date of transmission unless updated in a later transmission. The publications on this reading list apply to broad aspects of permaculture. Information pertaining specific circumstances is listed in many other publications on our regular and special order forms. People who do not require certification and who wish to study permaculture independently can use the Permaculture Design Course CD and the course reading list to conduct their own course of study. Use the course assignment schedule in the Course Tools folder of the CD to structure your reading and other work. Be sure to follow the readings in the Weekly Posts folder. By using the contents listed for each weekly module, you can skip reading administrative posts that are mainly for registered students and go straight to the lectures, notes and outlines for each module. Course monitors can also listen in to the class discussion and get supplemental posts of material not covered by the reading list. We have set the monitor fee to be the same as the course CD purchase price, so anyone who gets the course CD may also monitor the course discussions, student reports, and other online activities. The required registration form is available on our web site. In order to get the CD and monitor the course for one price, you must register to monitor the earliest course cycle scheduled after you have purchased your CD. You must register at the time that you buy your CD. If you plan to get the reading list, you can save money by registering and buying the reading list at the same time.
