3 The Project Why Main Road, St Albans? It has been identified as one of the 10 worst level crossings in Melbourne (and top 3 on some lists) High number of fatalities and near misses Increasing boom gate down time as service frequencies improve 3
4 The Project How we got here: A grade separation has been promised by successive Governments since 2009 Council has consistently advocated for a rail-under grade separation Council has worked collaboratively with VicRoads and other stakeholders since 2012 to refine options for the Business Case 4
5 The Announcement Grade Separation fully $200 Million Council s preferred Rail-under option Includes: New platforms in a cutting under Main Road New station building and forecourt fronting Main Road New bus interchange 5
