4 Guidelines & Rules FLOWER SHOW COMPETITIONS 1. The competition is open to all those who are residing in the State of Kerala, but in exceptional cases the Flower Show Committee may relax this condition. 2. Entry form for the competitions will be available from the Office of the VASANTHOLSAVAM 2019, Kanakakunnu Palace, Thiruvananthapuram from onwards. 3. Application for participation in the competition in the prescribed form should reach the Convener, Exhibit Committee at Office of the VASANTHOLSAVAM 2019, Kanakakunnu Palace on or before 5.00 p.m. on Nevertheless, the Convener, Flower Show, Vasantholsavam 2019 reserves the right to accept late entries if, in his view, the circumstances so warrant. 4. The entry fee is Rs.50/-per competitor for each section of the competition irrespective of the number of entries under the same section. 5. There will be separate competition for, Institutions and Commercial growers as indicated in the classification of items of competition. 6. Commercial growers are not entitled to compete as Institutional or Individual competitors. 7. All the items of competition shall be displayed in pots of size not less than 8 inches. 8. The individual competitors should engage their own labourers for loading and unloading the plants at their end. Expenditure incurred in this regard will be reimbursed at the rates fixed by the Committee. 9. Each competitor will be allowed duly authorized representative or gardener on the Show grounds to look after the plants. The expenditure of that shall be met by the competitor concerned. In the case of individual competitors, the expenses incurred for engaging gardeners of the competitor will be borne by the Flower show Committee at the rates fixed by the Committee. 10. The Flower show Committee will arrange the routine care of the plants, but the committee will not accept the responsibility of any loss or damage that may happen in the Show Ground. 11. Each competitor will be assigned an entry number which shall be prominently displayed on the group of plants for competition. 12. The Committee will provide to and fro transport facility to the individual competitors in Thiruvananthapuram city. The details of the transportation arrangement can be obtained from the Office of the Flower show Committee. 13. Commercial growers and institutional exhibitors will have to arrange their own transport. 4

The plants for the competition under Classes A and B shall be displayed in the stalls/places allotted in the venue of the Flower Show before a.m. on The plants for the competition under Classes C and D should be displayed in the stalls/places allotted in the venue of the Flower Show before 5.00 p.m. on The competitors or their representatives should not be present anywhere near the plants at the time of judging st, 2 nd and 3 rd prizes will be given for each item according to the decision of panel of Judges. The decision of the panel of judges will be final on all matters concerning the award of prizes. They may withhold or cancel prizes if the plants displayed for the competition are not worthy of being awarded prizes. 18. Cash Awards and Certificates will be given to the competitors who win the first, second and third places in each item of the competition. Cash Awards will be granted to the competitions only if the Judges recommend that the exhibits are worthy of being awarded cash prizes. 19. Sufficient place for the sale of plants by commercial growers who actively participate in the competition will be provided space free of cost on the basis of a grading system which will be worked out by the Flower show Committee, subject to the condition that if the provision of shade net or other facilities are required, the actual cost thereof will have to be remitted to the Infrastructure Committee. For the purpose of grading by the Flower show Committee the plants for competition shall be in position before 11 a.m. on The allotment will be made in preferential order based on the points secured in Display competitions and the involvement in other competitions. 20. The decision of the Convener, Flower Show Committee shall be final and binding on the interpretation of the rules governing the VASANTHOLSAVAM 2019 in general and the competitions in particular. The decision of the Organising Committee shall be final and binding on all matters not covered by these rules. 21. All correspondence regarding the show shall be addressed to the Convener, Flower Show Committee. 22. The Office of the VASANTHOLSAVAM 2019 will be functioned at the Kanakakunnu premises from to An enquiry counter will also be functioning in this office from where information regarding the Show, if needed can be obtained. 23. The exhibits are permitted to remove only after the completion of the show. 5

12 Guidelines & Rules FLORAL ARTS COMPETITIONS 1. The venue of the competition is Kanakakunnu Palace. 2. The entry form for the participation in the competitions should be given to the office or on or before 3.00 pm on The convener of the Exhibit committee reserves the right to accept late entries if any, in his view, the circumstances so warrant. 3. The entry fee for each section of competition specified in the prospects will be Rs. 50/- only and this shall be remitted at the registration counter and receipts thereof shall be obtained. 4. Each competition will be assigned a code number, which shall be prominently displayed on the exhibit; but none of the exhibit shall carry the name of the competitor. 5. The competitor or their representatives shall not be present at the venue during the time of judging. 6. Competitor s badges will be issued at the time of registration. These badges are non-transferable. 7. The venue of the competition will be open to the competitors between 8.00 am and am on each competition day. The schedule and specifications given in this prospectus shall be adhered to for ing for the competitions. 8. The decision of the panel of judges will be final and binding in the matter of evaluation of exhibits under all groups of the competition. The panel of judges is also free to decline the award of prizes; if in their view the exhibits are not worthy of being awarded prizes. 9. The results of the competition will normally be available in the office of the Exhibits Committee. 10. The decision of the Convener, Agri-Flower Show Committee shall be final and binding on all matters concerning the competitions covered by this prospectus. 11. Participants contesting in amateur category are not eligible for student category and vice-versa. 12
