1 General Routing Interface Features The General Routing Interface Card is an optional module to provide Fire and Fault Routing Outputs compliant with BSEN54-2: 1998 Clauses 7.9 and 8.9 and BS5839-1: Two Fire Routing Outputs are provided for differentiation between Call Point (MCP) and Automatic Detector (AFD) Fire Alarm Signals if required. Outputs are monitored for open and short circuit wiring conditions in both the quiescent (off) and active (on) modes with fault conditions indicated on the panel (CIE) display / LED Indicators. Outputs are compatible with a wide range of routing equipment coil impedances (1kΩ to 5kΩ). Simple to install and configure. Circuitry is prepared ready for Confirmation inputs in accordance with the EN54-2:1997 +A1:2006 Clause The operation and functions described in this manual are available from Software Version onwards.

INPUT WIRING CONFIGURATION Introduction Outputs to Routing Equipment Clauses 7.9 and 8.9. The Routing Interface Card provides monitored outputs in accordance with EN54-2 for connection to: - Fire Routing Equipment (Item E) and - Fault Routing Equipment (Item J). Two fire routing outputs are provided. These can be independently programmed with different cause and effect rules. They can, for example, be programmed to signal MCP (Call Point) and AFD (Automatic Fire Detection) conditions respectively. When Fire Routing is disabled at the panel, both outputs are disabled. Also provided for future options is provision for confirmation / fault inputs. Details of these are provided below but are not currently supported by the panel. The panel will indicate activated, disabled and fault conditions for each output using a combination of the LED Indicators (Function 1, 2 & 3 for Fire Alarm Output) and the Alphanumeric Display. The panel will indicate a fault condition if it fails to establish communications (or loses communications) with the General Routing Interface Card. 3
4 J1 EOL SELECT 2. Installing the Card in the Panel a. Mounting the Card J1 EOL SELECT The card is fitted to the chassis using 4x M3 screws. Refer to the diagram opposite. Screws marked * must be securely fixed to provide an earth connection for EMC purposes. * Routing Interface TB4 J1 * M3 Fixing Screws Base Card TB2 Communications TB3 DC SUPPLY b. Wiring Cables are provided for internal connection of a local 24V DC supply and communications connections. Connect the DC Supply from the AUX output (TB2 on the base card) to the connections on TB4 observing polarities (V+ to 24V and 0V to 0V). Mounting Position for the Routing Interface Card A B 24V 0V TB4 Routing Interface Connect the communications cable between TB3 on the Base Card to the connections on TB4 so that 'A' is connected to 'A' and 'B' to 'B'. EOL Jumper OUT IN If the card is mounted in the panel, ensure that the EOL jumper (J1) is set to the OUT position. OUT IN OUT IN If the card is mounted external to the panel and is the last (furthest) unit on the link then set the EOL Jumper (J1) to the IN position. 3. Installing the card in an External Enclosure Alternatively, the card may be mounted in a separate enclosure such as Mxm-044. This may be required if a modem / 8x relay output / sounder splitter card option is installed in the panel. In this case, the enclosure should be located not greater than 10M from the control panel (and must be within the same room) with the wiring run in rigid metal conduit. All wiring should be in 18AWG cable minimum. See above for connections. Communications cable must be twisted-pair type. Use the right hand A+B connections on TB3. Set Jumper J1 as described above. 4
5 4. Field Wiring Connections The Routing Interface can be used to output monitored signals to Fire Alarm Routing Equipment and to Fault Routing Equipment. Each function comprises of an output circuit (and optional confirmation input future option). Each circuit is monitored for open circuit and short circuit wiring conditions in both the activated and quiescent states. The outputs can be connected to a remote relay coil with a resistance of 1KΩ to 5KΩ. A suppression diode must be connected across the coil observe connection polarities. The Fault Output is normally energised during the quiescent condition it will de-energise on any fault or on total loss of power. NB: These circuits are classed as Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) circuits. Route away from mains wiring Not Currently Used Power + Data OUT IN OUT IN OUT IN1 IN2 FIRE 1 FIRE 2 FAULT Routing Interface Typical Arrangement a. Output Wiring Connect the output wiring to the + and - terminals. Use cables of appropriate size for the voltage and loading required. All cables should be to the same voltage and insulation specification appropriate to the intended application. Maximum cable impedance = 100Ω. Refer to diagram above for typical arrangement the wiring to the relay coil in the remote equipment. Refer to the specification section for the maximum and minimum compatible coil impedances. If an output is not used connect a 4.7KΩ EOL resistor across the relevant terminals. b. Input Wiring FUTURE OPTION The fire alarm outputs each have an associated input for a confirmation signal to indicate that the output signal has reached the receiving centre. IN1 & IN2 are additional inputs. A 10kΩ E.O.L resistor should be placed across any unused input terminals. 10K ¼W The monitored inputs circuits should be wired as per the diagram opposite. 470R ¼W Volt free contact The 470Ω (operating) resistor and 10kΩ (E.O.L) resistor arrangement should be made adjacent to the switch contacts to ensure that correct fault monitoring of the total circuit (including the wiring) between the input contact and the General Routing Interface unit is maintained. + SWITCH INPUT 'n' 5

[Setup] TRACE LOGGING MODE : STANDARD DETECTOR BLINKING : NONE EARTH MONITORING : FIRE/FAULT ROUTING : x More> To enable the operation of the General Routing Interface, press the button to cycle through the options and select the MONITORED option. X MONITORED NOT MONITORED No Fire / Fault Routing Fire / Fault Routing uses the General Routing Interface Card Fire / Fault Routing uses the base card volt-free relay outputs As soon as the MONITORED option is selected, the panel will try to establish communications with the General Routing Interface Card. If connection cannot be established then a fault condition will be indicated. By default, the outputs are configured to use Output Groups 199 (Fire) and 200 (Fault). These can be adjusted or can be assigned to alternative output groups as required for the application. Refer to the Panel Installation and Commissioning Manual for general information on output group programming. 6
