2 Güntner Motor Management Intelligence for condensers and drycoolers For years Güntner Controls has been providing high-performance and high-quality controllers and switch cabinets. These controllers and switch cabinets are pefectly adapted to the Güntner units and thus form an important part of the Güntner heat exchanger systems. The, especially created for Güntner heat exchangers, is a customized development that achieves optimum efficiency on heat dissipation and thus increases the economic efficiency of the installation. Only the combination of energy-efficient EC fans with the creates an intelligent heat exchanger system for an optimal operation for efficient maintenance and servicing. The use of the /EC fan system provides the following benefits: Commissioning is reduced considerably through the simple setting of the controller. The parameter setting of the EC fans is executed automatically by the Güntner Motor Management - also after fan exchange. Fault and operating messages are shown in the display of the controller. All settings can be made in the plain text display (in German, English, French, Spanish). EC Fan Intelligent Heat Exchanger System Comprehensive operating information is available (e.g. operating hours, energy data, speed, etc.). This data can be used for analysis and can thus improve the operation of the entire system. High operational reliability is achieved with Plug and Play the bypass function that is integrated in the system. The Güntner heat exchanger system with is a Plug and Play solution. This means that the parameters of the fans are set automatically by the. Thus no software or special knowledge is required for parameter setting or addressing the EC fans. The automatic programming also works if a fan has to be exchanged. The service technician simply installs the new fan and the sets the fan automatically to the required operating point. Information Manager speed control Communication to the customer system System Manager The controller manages the EC fans during commissioning, servicing and operation. This Plug-and-Play-capable system automatically executes all programming according to the respective design point of the heat exchanger and displays detailed information in real time. Process Controller The controls the speed of the fans according to pressure or temperature, controls processes and thus creates an energyoptimised heat exchanger system. For the refrigerant pressure control of condensers, the refrigerant can be selected and thus the condensing pressure and the condensing temperature can be displayed. 3

6 LCMM Low Capacity Motor Management EC fans have a minimum speed that is between 8 % and 12 % of full load operation. For a control in the lower capacity range of the heat exchanger (e.g. 5 %), the is equipped with a function where the control signal is newly calculated according to the number of fans and their minimum speed; this control signal is communicated to individual fans. No hardware, software or special knowledge is required. This is important for optimally adjusting the heat exchanger to the design point, e.g. speed, sound limitations, etc. Exchange/Mounting of fans In the event a fan is exchanged, this is automatically detected by the controller and the parameters are set to the designed operating point. Thus the heat exchanger is optimally adapted to acoustic and performance requirements. 8

9 Data transfer communication With the bus interface (optional), the EC heat exchanger system can be integrated into main control systems. This integration provides the following opportunities: Detailed fault messages relating to a fan or to the entire heat exchanger unit can be communicated to the main control system. The system has a higher operational reliability due to the option of activating a backup control and the bypass function. Detailed information relating to the operating state can be communicated, e.g. fan speed / air volume - heat exchanger capacity, etc. Due to 100 % integration of the heat exchanger into the main control system, a more precise control is possible for setting an optimal operating point for the entire system. Remote maintenance and remote setting of parameters can be executed via online data transfer to the main control system. Thus the heat exchanger can be addressed directly and fault messages can be communicated online. The transfer of energy data to the main control system is the basis for integrating the heat exchanger into the energy management system. 10 Connection and wiring The EC heat exchanger system provides considerable benefits also for connection and wiring. Due to the integration of the power electronics into the fans and the Plug-and-Play-capable with integrated motor control, only a fuse box is required for circuit protection. This fuse box can be pre-mounted at factory. Thus it is only necessary to provide a feed line on site.
