Memorials in the park include those to the Holocaust, wars in Australia and New Zealand and World Wars I and II. To honor the victims of the July 2005 London Bombings, 52 stainless steel pillars were erected to represent each victim. A memorial fountain to Diana, Princess of Wales, dates to A variety of unusual sculptures and botanical curiosities adorn the park as well. SHOPPING. The Radisson is a block from Oxford Street, renowned for world-class retail and endless entertainment selections. In a 1.5-mile stretch, you ll find legendary street brands and iconic department stores. One of the latter was founded by an American, Harry Gordon Selfridge, in He pioneered allowing customers to touch the store s products and offering a broad mix of inexpensive and extremely luxurious items under one roof. He saw his store as a theater, exhibition space and playground. Selfridges continues to amaze, amuse and surprise. Another Oxford Street department store, Marks and Spencer (M&S), leads the UK market in womens and mens wear, but 55% of sales are in food. ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICTS. The south end of Edgware Road, a major street that passes through central London, is a few minutes walk west from the hotel. The area is

3 noted for its distinct Arab flavor and many bars and shisha cafes, known to Londoners by nicknames such as Little Cairo and Little Beirut. To the east, Mayfair is London s most exclusive district and in many ways an amazing place to live, work and visit. Named after the fortnight long May Fair that took place there, it s a fashionable district that includes the most important retail activity in the U.K. To the north, Marylebone offers classic architecture and the open spaces of Regent s Park, while High Street charms with traditional pubs, beautiful boutiques and shops and excellent local restaurants. Also close is the West End Theater District, rated on par with New York s Broadway for its variety of award-winning theater productions and vast variety of shows and musicals. 10 Sponsors Following the 1898 U.S. installation of a dryer made in England on specs from Wynn Edward Ellis to dry grain from Great Lakes shipwrecks, he decided to manufacture and market the technology. Ellis Corp. grew in its early years in the laundry machinery market with partners (Willey Co., Tolhurst Machine Works) then emerged solo following the Depression. In 1900, Ellis had converted wooden cylinders to alloys; in 1934, stainless steel cylinders were introduced. The unloading washer was unveiled in 1946; unloading, large open-pocket and hydraulic-driven side loaders, shortly after. Other laundry machinery introductions would follow and a wastewater division added in Next, Ellis acquired Ludell Manufacturing (heat exchangers and conservation and water system solutions). KANNEGIESSER was founded in 1948 by Herbert Kannegiesser, an engineer by training, who started manufacturing ironing presses and folders for the garment industry near Vlotho, East Westphalia, Germany. In 1970, he retired, transferring the reins to 27 year-old son, Martin. In 1983, KANNEGIESSER introduced the first integrated ironer line feeder, ironer, folder from a single company. Following additional development of structure and technological advances, KANNEGIESSER began manufacturing complete textile processing systems for industrial laundries. Since 1990, KANNEGIESSER has acquired various manufacturing companies including Textima, Kleindienst, Passat, Pharmagg and Ducker Engineering Ltd., adding to its range of industrial laundry technology. With six factories in Europe, and sales and service organizations located throughout the world, KANNEGIESSER is recognized as building and servicing the most extensive range of industrial laundry machinery on the global market.

11 Lapauw was founded in 1933 in Kortrijk, Belgium, as a manufacturer of pumps and compressors to Belgium s textile industry.
