The water temperature of direct Super Series water heaters is higher than most others, at 70 C. Higher temperature means more hot water available in a smaller unit. Combined with very low heat loss figures makes OSO water heaters the most energy effective, offering up to 20 % more hot water than the competition. HIGH CORROSION RESISTANCE The combination of laser welding technology, high grade stainless steel alloys and unique self developed welding procedures results in water heaters with an extremely high resistance to corrosion. A unique technology for reducing oxydation in the welding zone results in products that are suited for most water qualities. EXTREME SAFETY OSO performs extraordinary safety tests for all products. New designs are stress and performance tested equivalent to the total life span of the product before approval. All vessels are pressure tested to 2x the standard operating pressure and all electric components are submitted to a final 100% test. All incoming steel supplies are continously tested in our own laboratory to ensure they are delivered to specification. OSO coils have increased length compared to finned coils, carry more heating fluid and therefore have a greater heat transfer capacity. Next generation unvented cylinder The Super Coil is the indirect version within the Super Series range and has a unique, integrated expansion solution factory fitted. All pipes & connections are also hidden under an insulated top lid. Factory fitted components drastically reduces fitting time, making the Super Series virtually a pre-plumbed unit. Laser welded Duplex Stainless Steel makes the Super Series extremely lightweight & space efficient for easy handling & installation. Low heat loss, secondary return, impressive heat up & recovery times and a 25 year guarantee. The OSO Super Coil is a quantum leap in unvented cylinder design. The integrated expansion vessels make the cylinder extremely compact in height. Super Coil will fit in a cylinder cupboard 650 mm wide. All plumbing connections and electrical cables are hidden from view giving the neatest possible installation. Adjustable feet are also integrated. The factory fitted blending valve limits the temperature of the outgoing water to 60 C when drawn off, increasing available hot water compared to others. All pipes connect to the Super Coil from the rear. The installer fits the pipes to the back wall together according to a supplied template and finally slides the cylinder into place to marry the valve connections with the pre-cut pipe tails. Super Coil can be converted to a pre-plumbed unit including full S-plan heating system with the connection to the OSO SuperJig (see page 18). 6 Ecoline Indirect - RI - high quality generic style cylinder Ecoline has been designed to operate with any boiler. Many modern boilers now have a thermistor probe to connect into the hot water cylinder. Ecoline contains a traditional thermostat with cut-out and also connection point for thermistor. Dogleg coil Indirect water heating with electric back-up The Ecoline is an indirect high performance unvented cylinder with all the quality you expect from OSO but at a competitive price point. Ecoline has been designed to operate with any central heating boiler the cylinder can interact with the boiler either by traditional thermostat or resistance thermistor. Ecoline is supplied with a dog leg coil that reaches all the way to the bottom of the cylinder and heats the entire water content. Many other cylinders have straight-through coils that will not heat the bottom 15% - 20% of the cylinder. Manufactured from high grade stainless steel, and carrying a 25 year guarantee, the OSO Ecoline cylinder has wide appeal through competitive pricing coupled with a host of product advantages. Large capacity heating coil for heat pumps The Ecoline Geo is a purpose-designed heat pump ready unvented cylinder, providing high heat pump input from the extremely large heating coil and substantial dedicated heat pump volume. The Ecoline Geo has an electric immersion heater for boosting temperature in the upper part of the cylinder. High performance fully flooded design, with expansion vessel and motorized valve supplied with the cylinder. Longer length smooth coils have a greater heat transfer capacity compared to finned or rippled coils. PLAN VIEW Cw Space heating Heat pump EPCI 360 The ideal choice for heat pump & space heating The Optima s unique construction (pat.) provides optimal working conditions for non-inverter driven heat pumps, whilst at the same time providing a buffer vessel in the same unit. The buffer vessel functions as energy storage for space heating requirements, while the heat pump is producing domestic hot water. A high performance fully flooded design, with expansion vessel and motorized valve supplied with the cylinder. The unique 2-in1 tank on tank construction provides maximum COP (Coefficient of Performance) for the heat pump of your choice up to 14 kw. The buffer vessel of 100 litres is located at the lower part of the unit, in its own temperature zone suitable for low temperature space heating such as under floor heating or fan convectors. The space heating temperature in the buffer tank transfers significant heat upwards into the domestic hot water tank through the cylinder, thereby reducing return temperature to the heat pump and maximizing COP whilst providing a valuable and efficient pre-heat to the domestic hot water. DHW coil in the upper cylinder is positioned to eliminate risk of heat leaking downwards into the buffer vessel. Once there is domestic hot water use, the diverting valve in the heat pump switches its flow into the 1.8 m² heating coil in the upper cylinder, providing maximum heat transfer and domestic hot water production. The 3 kw immersion heater heats the water up to 65 C. During this time, the buffer vessel continues to provide consistent temperature to the space heating system, without compromising performance. 11 Slimline Indirect - RI - for tight spaces Perfect for tight and narrow spaces The Slimline is the slimmest domestic cylinder available at only 430 mm diameter, making the cylinder ideal for installation in tight spaces. The cylinder has a large heating coil for fast heating and also back-up electric heating from an immersion heater. Low heat loss comes from OSO ECO Foam insulation. High flow rates provide powerful showers. The cylinder is floor mounted and is supplied with a wall bracket to stabilize the unit. An external expansion vessel is supplied with its own wall bracket. Slimline is simple to fit and follows a similar installation technique to the OSO renewable and PowerCyl cylinders. A dedicated secondary return is supplied as standard. 12 PowerCyl - RI F1 - for higher pressures and flow rates The OSO PowerCyl is well suited for use with the SuperStream accumulators, see page 13. Indirect unvented cylinder with high flow rate The PowerCyl cylinders come standard with 1 hot and cold connections for high flow rates, and can operate at up to 6 bar pressure. The PowerCyl has large heating coils for fast heating times, and low heat loss due to the OSO ECO Foam insulation. Dedicated secondary return and a 25 year cylinder guarantee. PowerCyl cylinders are supplied with an adjustable pressure reducing valve to be set between 1 and 6 bar. This enables the cylinder to supply showers requiring very high pressures and to locate the cylinder at low level and enable water to be been sent to higher floors and maintain good pressure at the outlet. Oversized expansion vessels are supplied to cope with the higher pressures involved. 1 hot and cold connections can deliver nearly double the flow rate of a standard cylinder. PowerCyl is ideal where multiple showers/baths are fitted in the property. It is often used in light commercial situations such as hotels/guesthouses and can be banked together to increase capacity and flow rate. Where mains flow rate is insufficient, Power- Cyl is a perfect partner to the SuperStream system described opposite. 13 SuperStream - OSI - Accumulator stores cold water to boost flow Charger > Cutaway view For exceptional flow rate performance The SuperStream system provides boosted performance for poor mains supplies. Cold water storage in accumulators guarantees unrivalled pressure & flow rates for multi-outlet demand. Option of charger pump can raise system pressure in building to 3.5 bar. Traditional unvented cylinders depend upon incoming mains pressure and water volume to produce high flow rates. If mains flow is poor, SuperStream accumulators dramatically boost flow rates available to hot and cold water taps by storing water in a membrane diaphragm and delivering it to the cylinder and cold outlets when demand exceeds the mains flow rate available. OSO accumulators have a composite construction with diaphragms manufactured from virgin butyl, giving very light weight & enabling a 5 year guarantee. SuperStream can be fitted with Super Series and Ecoline cylinders or for the highest flow rates with PowerCyl F1 cylinders. SuperStream is typically used in large properties with multiple outlets or in properties where mains flow rate is poor. High flow rates to multiple outlets can be guaranteed even with an incoming mains flow rate as low as 5 litres per minute. When mains pressure is low, the OSO Charger pump (WRAS approved) will raise water pressure in the property to increase water outlet performance. 18 Accu - 50R & Accu coil - 50RC - buffer vessels Heat accumulation for alternative energy sources The Accu series are stainless steel buffer vessels, collecting the heat produced by the energy source, in most cases heat pumps. Utilizing a buffer vessel in the system provides better working conditions and longer runtime for the heat pump, increasing the effectiveness. Accu provides stable temperatures for a traditional heat pump system, in much the same way as the Optima units do. The Accu units are designed to be part of a split system, where the accumulating is done in a separate tank. The units have double sets of 1 flow / return connections, for multiple installation options. In addition, the Accu has one ø22 mm. connection at the top, for letting air out of the system, and one ø15 mm. connection near the bottom for draining the unit. Accu units are available in two sizes, 100 and 300 litres, depending on the capacity of the heat pump. The coil in the 50RC connects to the mains water supply and preheats cold water prior to connection to a hot water cylinder, thus optimizes the heat pump efficiency (COP). Heating coils in OSO cylinders are made of smooth coil that will not encourage limescale deposits and offer longer and more efficient life than finned or rippled coils. In systems requiring large heat transfer capacity from the heat source (often low temperature), the Maxi Buffer is ideal. The unit pre-heats the domestic cold water, and lowers return temperature to the heat pump or solar collectors, thereby increasing efficiency. Maxi Buffer ensures that the heat pump / solar collectors have optimal working conditions, and provides stable temperature for the system. The 17RB 600 and litres units has a coil of a massive 4.1 m². This enables the Maxi Buffer to suit both medium- and larger sized systems. The units have double sets (4 pcs.) of flow / return connections (5/4 ), which provides all possible options for the system. Series or parallel connections provides flexibility if the system should need more solar collectors. The pressure vessel is manufactured in stainless steel, and is designed for pressures of up to 10 bar. 27 - unvented hot water cylinder The OSO stainless steel inner vessel on 20 series/ecoline and Super S cylinders is guaranteed against material defect or manufacturing faults for a period of 25 years from the date of purchase. All other parts including, but not limited to factory fitted electrical elements (damage caused by lime scale excluded), expansion vessel, thermostats and valves are guaranteed against material defects or manufacturing faults for 2 years from the date of purchase. In the event of a replacement component being required OSO Hotwater will supply such part(s) free of charge and freight paid, on condition that the defective component is delivered, freight paid to OSO Hotwater within 2 weeks of written notice being given to OSO Hotwater of the defect. Such replacement parts shall be guaranteed under the terms of this guarantee to the unexpired period of the aforementioned 2 year period. This warranty is conditional upon the OSO cylinder being installed in compliance with the OSO Installation & Maintenace Instructions, all current legislation, codes of practice and regulations governing the installation of unvented hot water cylinders in force at the date of installation and provided that: 1. The water quality shall be in accordance with European Council Directive 98/83 EC, or revised version at the date of installation, and is not fed with water from a private supply. Particular: Chloride content: Max. 250 mg/l Sulphate content: Max. 250 mg/l Combination Chloride/sulphate: Max. 300 mg/l (in total) 2. The OSO cylinder is filled with water before turning the electricity supply on to the heater elements. 3. The benchmark certificate is completed at the time of installation. 4. The OSO cylinder is serviced and maintained every 12 months and is marked as such in the benchmark logbook provided with the cylinder. Invoices for the maintenance work should be kept as proof of regular maintenance. Care should be taken of the logbook and invoices as they serve as the guarantee certificate for the cylinder. 5. If the newly fitted water heater is not in regular use then it must be flushed through with fresh water for at least 15 minutes. Open at least one hot water tap once per week, during a period of at least 4 weeks. 6. The OSO unvented cylinder has not been modified in any way other than by OSO Hotwater and is only used for the storage of potable water. 7. No factory fitted parts have been removed for unauthorised repair or replacement. 8. Defects caused by frost, excess pressure, salt dehardner process, transient voltage, lightning strikes or incorrect installation, repair or use, are not covered by this warranty. A laboratory evaluation of possible defects can be ordered by the user, however the user must pay for this where the above mentioned conditions have not been fulfilled. Evidence of the purchase date and the date of supply must also be submitted with your claim. 9. To validate the warranty the user must complete and return the warranty card supplied accompanied by proof of purchase within 60 days of purchase. Evidence of the purchase date and the date of supply / installation must be submitted. This guarantee does not confer any rights other than those expressly set out above and does not cover any claims for consequential loss or damage. This guarantee is offered as an extra benefit and does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. Water Supply requirements OSO unvented cylinders operate at 3 bar (controlled by the inlet control set) and are capable of delivering over 50 litres per minute. Unvented cylinders will offer good multi-outlet pressure and flow rate provided the mains supply is adequate. OSO cylinders will operate at lower pressures and flow rates but performance may be impaired. A good static water pressure will not necessarily result in a strong mains flow rate. The maximum possible water demand should be assessed, taking into consideration that both hot and cold services are supplied simultaneously from the mains. If necessary, consult the local water company regarding the likely pressure and flow rate availability. If mains flow rate is poor, the OSO Super- Stream (page 19) should be considered. IF static pressure is low, the OSO charger pump is a possible solution. Wherever possible the water mains supply should be in at least 22mm. ½ (15mm) supplies can give good performance if mains supply is good, however consideration should be given to upgrading existing small bore mains pipework to a larger size if the recommended minimum pressure/flow rate is not being achieved. 27
