2 DESIGNED FOR HANDLING HEAVY SLUDGES AND SLURRIES IN INDUSTRIAL AND MUNICIPAL APPLICATIONS The rugged construction and extra-thick pump casing of Gorman-Rupp air driven diaphragm pumps stand up to the abuses of the most demanding sludge and slurry applications. They overcome the high-wear problem commonly found in double diaphragm and progressive cavity pumps. Air driven diaphragm pumps are capable of operating dry, on suction lifts up to 20 feet (6.5 m) and handling high solids contents up to approximately 70%. Depending on pump model, they will pass up to 3" (76 mm) diameter spherical solids. (Solids size is determined by check valve type.) Pump stroke rate, discharge stroke time, suction drive pressure and discharge drive pressure can all be adjusted independently. Pumps will easily handle heavy sludges at their rate of accumulation in clarifiers and settling basins. Compressed air applied to top of diaphragm forces the diaphragm down and discharges liquid. B B. The solenoid is then signaled by an adjustable controller to halt incoming air. Compressed air is then directed into the bottom of air cylinder, raising the air cylinder piston and retracting the diaphragm. The retracting diaphragm fills pump cavity for next stroke. Consult factory for specific information. Efficient Air Cylinder Design Air is applied uniformly on top of the diaphragm which causes less resistance than spring-operated cylinders. This reduces stress on the diaphragm. The result is longer diaphragm life, reduced air consumption which saves thousands of dollars over the life of the pump, quieter operation and virtual elimination of muffler icing. Rugged Construction MINIMAL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS Air driven diaphragm pumps have only three moving parts so maintenance and service are minimal. Replacement of pump diaphragm can be accomplished in about one hour without disconnecting piping. Check valves can also be quickly and easily cleaned out using twist lok handles. No special tools required. Standard pump and check valve construction is ductile iron. For mildly corrosive and abrasive applications, linings are available. Some pumps are also available with 316 stainless steel construction. Rebuilding the Entire Pump Costs About 15% of the Original Pump Cost! Rebuilding the pump with a new diaphragm costs about 15% of the cost of the original pump, so it is incredibly cost-efficient in the long run. 8 CHEMICAL HANDLING PUMPS FOR HIGHLY CORROSIVE AND MILDLY ABRASIVE SERVICE Pro-Flo Elastomer-Lined End Suction Centrifugal Pumps Specially designed for chemical process and mild slurry applications, offering outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemicals and corrosives, both acid and alkali. Elastomer linings are permanently bonded to strong rigid casings and covers, eliminating lining flutter, creep and cold flow. Linings and impellers are available in Natural Rubber (hard), Neoprene, Nordel (EPDM), Buna-N, Butyl, Hypalon, and Viton. Impellers are also molded in Kynar. Pumps are available in four sizes: 2" 1 1 2" (50 mm 40 mm), 3" 2" (75 mm 50 mm), 4" 3" (100 mm 75 mm) and 6" 4" (150 mm 100 mm); capacities to 1350 gpm (85.2 lps), heads to 140 feet (42.7 m). Pro-Flo Kynar -Lined AVS Centrifugal Pumps Kynar -lined pumps provide outstanding resistance to acids, alkalis and solvents even at extreme (270 F) temperatures. Pumps are ideal for handling hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, sodium hydroxide, ethylene bromide, calcium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, ferric chloride and many other corrosive fluids. Kynar lining is impervious to stress cracking and corrosion, will not conduct electricity and prevents formation of electrolytic corrosion cells. It is nontoxic and approved by the Federal Food and Drug Administration for food handling.
