5 GENERAL INFORMATION These models are integrated front loading dishwashers providing a choice of eleven wash programmes to suit load requirements. The programme selection button, On/Off switch and Programme Display and Option Buttons are mounted along the top edge of the door panel. The programmes are selected by depressing the programme selection button (P). The programme can be cancelled at any time by holding down the On/Off button until the buzzer sounds three times - resetting the programme. The selected programme is indicated by a number displayed on the top edge of the door panel. At the end of the programme the buzzer sounds twice and the selected programme flashes once a second to indicate the end of the programme. Water hardness is adjusted by the user before the machine is first used. ECODESIGN REGULATION The ECO wash cycle is the standard cycle to which the energy label data refers. It can be used to wash crockery with a normal soil level and is the most efficient cycle in terms of energy and water consumption for this type of crockery. To reduce consumption even further, only run the dishwasher when it is full. To Reset a programme hold down the On/Off Reset button until the machine emits 1 long beep. ON-OFF Indicator Light This light informs that the dishwasher is on. Wash Cycle Selector (P) Button Each time this button is pressed the number in the display will sequence through the available programmes. Display Located on the top of the console, it displays the following information: The set programme number during a Cycle The programme number flashing at the end of the cycle indicates the cycle is complete. If the on/off indicator is flashing as well as a number in the display, this indicates a fault code. Low Rinse Aid Warning. Low Salt Warning. Delayed Time Basket Selected Delayed Start Button The Programme can be delayed between 1 and 12 hours. Not compatible with all cycles. Every time the Delay start button is pressed the next period of delay is hi lighted until the desired time is displayed. Multi Function Tablet Button Button LED on when selected. 7 ZONE WASH This option allows for performing the wash cycle only on the selected rack. Select the wash cycle, press the ZONE WASH button in a sequence: the selected rack lights up and washing is activated only on the selected rack; press the button again to deselect the option. The option is available with the the following wash cycles: Intensive and Normal. Select the option and the wash cycle Intensive to activate the POWER ZONE wash cycle. This wash cycle is a useful option for a soiled, mixed load, such as pans and saucepans, dishes with burnt-on residues or crockery that are difficult to wash (grater, vegetable mill, very soiled cutlery). The spraying pressure is reinforced and the washing temperature is increased to guarantee the best washing on very soiled crockery. Select the option and the wash cycle Normal to activate the GREEN ZONE wash cycle. This function reduces the water and energy consumption. Excellent washing and drying results; thee cycle time is extended. Remember to load the crockery only on the selected rack. EXTRA DRY BUTTON Pressing the Button will turn on the LED. The Final Rinse Temperature is increased and the Drying Phase is extended to improve Drying Performance. ACTIVE OXYGEN This Option should be used between cycles when the Dishwasher is loaded with soiled crockery. The Active Oxygen Option improves the hygienic conditions inside the dishwasher and controls the onset of odours. The Option is available for 24 hours or until the Wash Cycle is started. 7 of 40

9 SETTING THE WATER HARDNESS These models have 5 Water Hardness Settings depending on the water supply where the machine is located. The Water Hardness Setting must be set: - before the machine is used for the first time, - if a new Module has been fitted or if the machine is moved to a different water area. Switch on and off the dishwasher using the ON/OFF button. 2. Press and hold the P button for a few seconds until you hear a beep. 3. Switch on the dishwasher with the ON/OFF button, the set level appears on the display (the water softening system is set by default to level 3). 4. Adjust the water hardness level with the P button, ( * see water hardness table) up to a max. of 5 levels. 5. Press the ON/OFF button to save the adjustment setting. Note: Even if using multi-functional tablets, the salt dispenser should still be filled. RINSE AID ADJUSTMENT The Rinse Aid Setting has to be Electronically set. Starting condition: Make certain the machine is Off at the Console but power is applied at the wall socket. 1. Switch the machine on (On/Off button) 2. Switch the machine off (On/Off button) 3. Press the Start/Pause Button 3 times 4. Switch the machine on (On/Off button) 5. Adjust the level of rinse aid using the knob 6. Confirm by switching the machine off (On/Off button) Note: if the machine is not switched off by pressing the On/Off button, then at the end of a 10- second Time Out the appliance will abort the procedure automatically, without any change to the previous rinse aid setting. 9 of 40

10 BASIC MACHINE USE Setting a Programme 1. Open the door and turn the machine On. 2. Press the P button, after each press, the display number will cycle to the next programme number, until the desired Programme is shown. 3. Close the door, The machine will Start after about 10 seconds. Cancelling a Programme in progress 1. Press and Hold the On/Off button until the machine beeps and the lamps all go out. The programme is now cancelled. End of Cycle The Programme number will flash in the display when the final drying part of the programme is completed. Note: If the machine is silent and when the door is opened and the Programme Number is permanently displayed, the cycle has not finished. Close the door and allow the programme to continue. During the final part of the Drying Cycle the machine is paused. On/Off Lamp Flashing If the ON-OFF Lamp is flashing as well as a programme number the machine has a fault, see Fault Codes and Diagnostics. Adjusting the height of the upper rack In order to make it easier to arrange the crockery, the upper rack may be moved to a higher or lower position. The height of the upper rack should be adjusted WHEN THE RACK IS EMPTY. NEVER raise or lower the rack on one side only. If the rack is equipped with a Lift-Up device* (see figure), lift it up by holding its sides. To restore the lower position, press the levers (A) at the sides of the rack and follow the rack down. 10 of 40

11 COMPONENT DESCRIPTION Aqua Stop Inlet Valve The Aqua stop inlet water valve is located in the tap end of the fill hose. In the event of a split fill hose or the machine leaking, water will fill the base tray and operate the base float switch, which will signal the module to switch off the inlet valve. Hose connector Inlet valve Protected outer sheath of fill hose Water Turbine This is situated at the bottom of the Air Break. Consisting of a fixed reed switch and a magnet fitted to an impeller. Unlike previous control systems, water fill is no longer dependant on the operation of the pressure switch. The turbine generates a series of impulses as the water rotates the impeller vanes. The control module translates these impulses into litres of fill water (217 impulses is equal to 1 litre of water). The turbine also regulates the maximum amount of water that can enter the tub, therefore acting as an overflow device. MODULE: Mounted behind the plinth, this is an electronic device that monitors and controls all devices within the appliance. If replacing this module, refer to the Module Programming section on in this manual. DEA700 Module The pressure and door switches and associated wiring are Low voltage (12 Volts and 10mA) with RAST 2.5 connector. VIRTUAL SENSORS:. The pressure switch has been replaced by a system of "Virtual Sensors" that will detect the presence or absence of water in the tub. In practice, these sensors are the BLAC Wash Pump and the BLAC Drain Pump. The Virtual Sensors are able to detect full or empty conditions by monitoring the operation of the BLAC wash pump and the BLAC drain pump: By measuring the effort (energy consumption) expended power by these motors, the Main Module can identify the exact operating situation. See Tables below. 12 Virtual Sensor (BLAC WASH PUMP) Sensing Blocked Filter If, during the wash cycle, the Wash Pump (functioning as Virtual Sensor) senses a Clogged Filters/ Suds situation, the main board will reduce the motor rpm by 20%. If the situation stabilizes, the problem will be identified as Suds and the pump continues operating at the new speed. If the pump continues to struggle (condition 3: build-up of suds or filters clogged), the speed will be reduced by a further 20% and the problem identified as Clogged Filters. If the situation stabilizes, the pump will continue operating at the new speed. If the problem persists, the machine will begin to top up with water until there are 5.5 litres in the tub or until the problem is overcome (whichever occurs first). If the problem still persists (even after 5.5 litres of water have entered), the machine will drain and the program skips to the next step of the cycle. Drain Pump The new Drain Pump has a BLAC motor. The speed of this pump is controlled by the Power Module in response to the different conditions prevailing at any given moment. The BLAC Drain Pump's main function is to drain water from the machine. In addition, the BLAC drain pump (in combination with the BLAC Wash Pump) operate as a virtual sensors. Anti Flood Device Consisting of a polystyrene float and microswitch. An excess of water in the base operates the float switch sending a signal to the control module operating the drain pump and displaying a fault code on the console. 12 of 40

13 FILLING SEQUENCE (with Virtual Sensors) Once a program has been started, the first action of the dishwasher will be to drain down until the D-Sensor registers empty + 15 seconds. Thereafter, the W-Sensor runs for 40 seconds at 1400 rpm with the bottom delivery outlet open, to confirm that the tub is actually empty (if not, after three unsuccessful attempts error F15 will be displayed). The machine then starts to fill an operation that will be completed in two steps: 1. Static fill: the fill solenoid valve is piloted to open by the Main Module, and will admit approximately 2.0 litres of water, measured by the Water Turbine. When this threshold is reached, the Wash Pump ( W-Sensor ) runs at 1400 rpm with the bottom delivery outlet open, to confirm whether or not the machine is in Full status. If the Full condition is satisfied, the dynamic fill will start. Note: The BLAC Wash Pump Motor running at 1400 rpm on the bottom outlet, full status will register with approximately 1.5 litres of water. 2. Dynamic Fill: with the BLAC Wash Pump running (at 1400 rpm, bottom delivery outlet), the fill solenoid valve is activated and held open by the Main Module until the water level increases to around 3.5/3.8 litres (depending on the cycle selected). If full status is confirmed by the W-Sensor, the machine will continue washing as normal. Sensor Key: D-Sensor: Drain Pump used as Sensor W-Sensor: Wash Pump used as Sensor Possible Filling/Draining Errors Machine is not emptying Once a program has been started, the first action of the dishwasher will be to drain until the "D-Sensor" registers empty + 15 seconds. Thereafter, the "W-Sensor" runs for 40 seconds at 1400 rpm with the bottom delivery outlet open, to confirm that the tub is actually empty (if not, after three unsuccessful attempts error "15" will be displayed). The machine then starts to fill - an operation that will be completed in two steps: Machine's inlet Water Tap is OFF. Static fill: The fill solenoid is piloted to open. The Main Module doesn't receive any information from the Turbine (because no water in entering the machine). After a short time the machine will bleep time and H will be displayed, is displayed (Warning to the user that no water is entering the machine) after a further period the machine times out and 06 fault will display. Turbine out of Range Static fill: The fill solenoid is piloted to open. The Main Module does not receive any information from the Litre-count turbine. After one minute during which the solenoid valve remains open and approximately 2.4 litres of water have entered the machine, the Wash Pump (W-Sensor) runs at 1400 rpm with the bottom delivery outlet open to confirm W-Sensor Full status. The cycle moves on to dynamic fill. Dynamic fill: The speed of the Wash Pump is increased to 2400/2500 rpm (depending on the cycle selected) and the tub continues to fill until the motor torque registers at a value corresponding to Full status, at which point the machine continues washing as normal. 14 Blocked Filter 1. Static fill: the fill solenoid valve is piloted to open by the Main Module, and will admit approximately 2.0 litres of water, measured by the Litre-count Turbine. When this threshold is reached, the Wash Pump ("W-Sensor") runs at 1400 rpm with the bottom delivery outlet open, to confirm whether or not the machine is in Full status. If the Full condition is satisfied, the dynamic fill will start. 2. Dynamic fill: with the Wash Pump running (at 1400 rpm, bottom delivery outlet), the fill solenoid valve is activated and held open by the main module until the water level increases to around 3.5/ 3.8 litres. At this point if a fault situation is confirmed, the machine continues to fill until: > Full status is satisfied, in which case the wash proceeds as normal; > It the Tub contains 5.5 litre's of water, or the dynamic fill timeout is exceeded; in both instances, the program skips to the next step. (The programme will complete in a short period and the load will be dirty at the end of the cycle). No Fault code will display. Detergent, Rinse Aid Dispenser and Oxygen Generator Soap Dispenser /Qxygen Generator The dispenser fitted to these models works differently to dispensers previously found on Hotpoint / Indesit Dishwashers. Operation of Detergent Dispenser: The dispenser incorporates a solenoid valve at the rear which, when activated, opens the dispenser to release the detergent and at the same time releases the rinse aid. The dispenser is activated: Oxygen Generator Rinse Aid Tablet / Powder Detergent Dispenser 1. The Solenoid is energised for one second, to release the detergent; the rinse aid will not be released in this short space of time, because of its viscosity. 2. Once or repeatedly for a fixed duration of 10 seconds to release the rinse aid, depending on the setting adopted by the user. Each time the dispenser is opened, 1.5 ml (1.5 cc) of rinse aid will be released. Possible settings: 0: Off (no rinse aid is released) 1. One pulse is generated, releasing 1.5 ml of rinse aid 2: Two pulses are generated, releasing 3 ml of rinse aid 3: Three pulses are generated, releasing 4.5 ml of rinse aid 4: Four pulses are generated, releasing 6 ml of rinse aid continued on next page of 40

15 Ozone Generator The function of the ozone generator, is to prevent the formation of bacteria, consequently minimizing unpleasant smells inside the tub and generally improving hygiene conditions internally of the appliance. The component receives a power input of 220 V from the mainboard. An internal electronic circuit is programmed to govern the components and the duration for which ozone is produced. When activated to deliver ozone, the solenoid valve of the device is open, and the fan and ozone generator come into operation. Ozone Generator seen from the rear of the dispenser How the Ozone Generator works as an option for preventing the proliferation of bacteria and avoiding unpleasant smells: The O3 option is activated by pressing and holding the relative button. The option functions continuously for 24 hours, alternating between ON and OFF at set intervals: for the first three hours, the system operates 5 minutes On and 15 minutes Off, then, for a further 3 hours and 10 minutes, 8 minutes On and 30 minutes off; the time remaining until the end of 24 hours is divided into intervals of 8 minutes On and 15 minutes Off. When the ozone generation system is not working correctly, the solenoid valve will emit 3 audible pulses each time it is activated. If nothing is heard when activating the function, the fault is in the solenoid valve. Rinse Aid The Rinse Aid Warning Light is operated by an optical sensor. The reading is made by the user interface; this relays the information to the mainboard, which determines whether to switch the light on or off and communicates the decision to the User Interface. The light comes on when the door is closed, and when the Optical Sensor no longer detects the rinse aid (about 120 seconds after empty status is detected). If the machine is on, the warning light will go out within 2 minutes after rinse aid has been put into the dispenser. If the machine is off, conversely, then the next time the mainboard is powered up, the warning light will stay off. Note: The rinse aid is always released during the Hot Rinse step, once the water in the tub has heated to around +47 C. All Models are factory-set to level 2, which represents a dosage of 3 cc / 3 ml. The maximum capacity of the container is around 100 ml. Possible settings: 0: Off (no rinse aid is released) 1. One pulse is generated, releasing 1.5 ml of rinse aid 2: Two pulses are generated, releasing 3 ml of rinse aid 3: Three pulses are generated, releasing 4.5 ml of rinse aid 4: Four pulses are generated, releasing 6 ml of rinse aid 15 of 40

16 Brushless Flexipower BLAC Wash Pump Motor The Brushless Flexipower Wash Pump Motor is very quiet and its speed can be varied by the Control Module. There are 2 connectors fitted to the Brushless Circulating Wash Pump, a 2 wire power cable and a 3 wire Data lead. Flexipower minimum pump pressure 20% less than normal pump pressure. Flexipower Maximum pump pressure 20% higher than normal pump pressure. The BLAC wash pump also acts as a virtual sensor - see pages Alternating Wash Motor. Heater Assembly Brushless Pump Motor Alternating Wash Motor Outlets to Spray Arms The Alternating Wash motor directs the water to the upper spray arm first and then to the lower spray arm, this process is repeated throughout the programme. Note: If the Cycle time is less than 60 minutes the water is directed to both spray arms continuously, to ensure a good wash performance. Heater The heater is encased in a metal housing with integral safety cut-out and fuse. It connects to the Circulating Wash pump housing via a bayonet fitting. Refer to the Wash Pump Motor description. Thermistor Situated on the sump. A temperature rise in the water is converted to a changing resistance value. A rise in temperature will give a lower resistance across the terminals of the thermistor; the control module monitors this value and when it is the same as that as defined in the programme selected, the module will advance the programme out of the heating stage. Low Rinse Aid A float is fitted into the rinse aid dispenser, when the level of the float is near the bottom of the rinse aid reservoir the float will trigger a signal to the Control Module to turn on the Low Rinse Aid Warning Lamp. 16 of 40

17 Water Softening and Regeneration To obtain acceptable cleaning results, it is necessary to soften the washing water if the hardness is above 7 Clarke. Without water softening, limescale deposits especially on glassware and the internal dishwasher cavity would be noticed, also hard water would affect the performance of the powder or tablet resulting in a reduced cleaning performance. Water filling into the machine passes through the resin (ion exchange) container of the machines water softening unit. This exchanges the hardness ions in the water for sodium ions which do not affect the washing process. Eventually all the sodium ions in the unit will be replaced with hardness ions. To regenerate the water softener, a concentrated salt solution (sodium chloride) is passed through the resin (ion exchange) unit. Regeneration Procedure Unlike previous models Regeneration is not carried out during every wash. The Control Module counts the number of Litres used since the last Regeneration. The volume of water (in Litres) used between Regeneration is dependant upon the Water Hardness Setting stored in the Control Module. (Refer to "Setting the Water Hardness"). See Chart below. Water Hardness Setting Regenerates Every... No water is stored for Regeneration litres and regeneration will always take place at the end of the last rinse, litres after the number of litres has been 3 65 litres achieved litres 5 15 litres Regeneration Sequence 1. Regeneration valve activated, after 2 seconds, the fill inlet solenoid is opened to allow water flow, water flows from the inlet through the salt and the mixture of water and salt reaches the resins. 2. Solenoid valve closes (the inlet valve and after 2 seconds the regeneration valve). 3. Pause for 10 minutes. 4. Fill with 190cc of water (same procedure as step 1.) 5. 5 minutes pause. 6. Starts resin wash. Between 1 and 2 litres of water flow directly through the resins. (Inlet valve is on, regeneration valve is off. 7. Drains. Note: It the water hardness is set to levels 4 or 5, between 5 and 10 minutes will be added to the programme duration. Low Salt Warning An Optical sensor is fitted to the salt container where the presence of salt breaks the beam in the sensor. When the level of salt is below the sensor level, the receiving sensor receives the light beam from the sending Led. The sensor position is not at the bottom of the salt container because of possible false readings caused by impurities that collect in the bottom of the salt container. The Low Salt warning lamp is switched on 6 washes after the sensor signals the module. 17 of 40

18 Note: Whenever the low salt warning lamp is on, the dishwasher will not carry out regeneration. Air Break Assembly Located on the right hand side of the machine. The Air Break Assembly carries out 3 functions 1. Stops filling water siphoning back into the mains water supply. 2. Vents the Steam from the dishwasher tub. 3. Diverts 3% of the hard water fill into the tub to avoid the water being too soft which could cause excessive foam. The Air Break also holds the regeneration valve and the Water fill turbine. Regeneration Valve Turbidity Sensor Situated in the Sump it detects the dirt level in the water and consequently selects the required cycle content and duration when an Auto Cycle is selected. The Turbidity Sensor is active on Programmes: Auto Normal Auto Duo Wash Auto Super Wash Depending upon the soil in the water the control module, in conjunction with the turbidity sensor adjusts the following: Temperature Cycle duration Number of rinses Wash Pump Flexipower Motor speed Spray arm pressure Drying The Natural Drying System uses Residual Heat and Rinse Aid to Dry the loaded dishwasher. During the Drying Phase of the cycle the Water reaches a very high Temperature 70 C. Drying is carried out in 2 steps both with the machine paused (Circulating wash pump off). 1. Hot water in the tub. 2. Hot water drained from the tub. Filtering System The flat filter is made of metal and larger than previous models which will prevent the filter from clogging. 20 AUTO TEST CYCLE Note: At the Start of the Auto Test cycle, the machine will display the last fault detected by the module. The Auto Test Cycle will run a quick Diagnosis Cycle, and if a fault is detected will show the relevant fault code. Starting the Auto Test Cycle Start with the Door Closed and the appliance "OFF". (On-Off Button) 1. Open the Door and Switch "ON" ( ON/OFF) 2. Push button P 3. Push button P 4. Switch the Dishwasher "Off" " ON/OFF" 5. Push button P 6. Push button P 7. Switch the Dishwasher "ON" "ON/OFF" 8. Close the Door to Start the Autotest Procedure The dishwasher will Start the Test Cycle after a few seconds. Auto Test Sequence All times are approximate. The machine is drained to empty status + 15 seconds (D-Sensor); at the same time, the alternating wash motor is repositioned to operate with the bottom delivery outlet open. 1. Empty status is verified by the wash pump (W-Sensor), running with the bottom delivery outlet open at 1400 rpm for 40 seconds 2. The tub takes in 2 litres of water, with activation of the W-Sensor to confirm Full status 3. Another 2 litres are added in dynamic mode 4. The wash pump is activated for 30 seconds with the top delivery outlet open 5. The pump is switched to the bottom outlet for 30 seconds 6. The Wash heating element is activated, with the Wash Pump running at 2500 rpm, and the temperature raised to 30 C 7. The machine is drained to empty status (D-Sensor) + 15 seconds 8. The dispenser is opened by activating the solenoid valve for 2 seconds second pause 10. Service action: once the dispenser has opened, open the door, remove the salt cover and insert the door needle 11. The regenerate solenoid is activated for 5 seconds 12. The fill solenoid valve and regenerate solenoid valve are activated for 10 seconds. Check for outflow of water from the salt container 13. The Turbo Dry Fan is activated (if installed) 14. The machine is drained to empty status (D-Sensor) + 15 seconds 20 of 40

21 FAULT CODES & DIAGNOSTICS If an error is detected in programme, the Fault Code Number will flash on the console display. N.B. In a Fault Condition the On/Off LED will also flash. Flashing Number 1 2 Fault Overflow (water in base pan). Valve or Turbine faulty or disconnected. Possible Cause(s) Leak from water line. Inlet valve, connections, valve letting by when off. 3 Time out draining Pump connections, blockage, module, circulation pump. 4 Thermistor circuit Thermistor / module. 6 Time out filling Customer's tap, Inlet valve, connections, timer, water turbine. 7 Turbine faulty Module has detected no Turbine rotation. check turbine and wiring 8 Time out heating Heater Open circuit or NTC thermistor detached from casing ** Software recognition error Heating circuit Wash Pump Faulty 12 Communication Error Non-operative module Virtual Sensor --- Module not programmed, wrong keypad Heating element, connections, module, relay, pressure switch. Wash Pump faulty, or wiring/connections between pump motor and module faulty. Note 1. If the water is turned off after approximately 2 minutes the machine will beep every 2 seconds, then display a fault code. Note 2. In the event of any of the above codes being displayed, after the fault has been rectified it will be necessary to reset the dishwasher. ** This fault code is only applicable to the LFT321HXUK and LFT3214HXUK. Resetting after a Fault This is achieved by switching OFF the dishwasher with the On/Off switch and waiting 30 seconds. The dishwasher is then ready for use. Very Short Programme Times: If the dishwasher completes the cycle in a very short time (with very poor wash results) see BLOCKED FILTER on page of 40

22 Possible Reasons For Fault Code Displayed Note: - Always carry out an earth insulation test before using the fault guide, as an earth fault on a component or damaged wiring may display fault codes not related to the component signalled. If any earth faults are found on initial testing they must be rectified before using the fault code chart, to avoid erroneous codes being displayed. Modern components, especially modules are very reliable, therefore edge connectors, contacts and wiring should be thoroughly tested before trying components. Fault Code 1 The micro-switch in the base tray has been closed for 9 seconds to signal the alarm. Water is leaking from components or hoses in the base of the machine. Programme will abort and the drain pump will be energised. Fault Code 2 Fault Code 3 Fault Code 6 Fault Code 7 Fault Code 8 The module has detected movement of the turbine for 9 seconds when the inlet valve was not energised. The inlet valve is letting water by when the valve is closed. The programme will be aborted and the drain pump is energised. The drain pump has been energised for 8 minutes, but the pressure switch has not switched to the empty position (contacts 11-12). Check continuity of the pump coil. A jammed drain pump or blockage in the outlet hose or plumbing. A blocked pressure chamber or pressure switch air tube. A faulty pressure switch. Check wiring to pump and module connections. Time out for filling. The module has not detected turbine rotation with the inlet valve energised. Check the taps are turned on and that the fill hoses are not kinked. Check the inlet valve coil (4k ohms approximately) and wiring to valve and edge connector on module. Check the wiring and connector blocks to module, inlet valve and turbine. If all above tests are OK, replace turbine or module as required. Aborts the cycle and energises the drain pump. The module has detected no turbine rotation Check wiring between turbine and module. Check Turbine rotation Time out for water heating. The module has not detected temperature increase in 60 minutes. Check that the thermistor is not detached from its sump pocket. Check that the heater is not open circuit. The thermistor is out of calibration. Check the wash pump is circulating the water. Check the element is heating, and the TOC is not opening after a time. Note: The heater has a self-resetting cut-out (95 C) and a thermal one-shot fuse (206 C). 22 of 40

23 Fault Code 9 Module recognition error. Check edge connections and wiring. Reprogramme the EEPROM file. Replace module or display as required. Fault Code 10 Open circuit in heating circuit. Check the resistance of the heating element (30 Ω approx.). Check for an open circuit heater cut-out or fuse. Check pressure switch open circuit (connections 11-14). Check wiring and connections between module card, pressure switch and heater. If all above is OK, replace module card. Fault Code 11 **Wash Pump Faulty ** This fault code (11) is only applicable to the LFT321HXUK and LFT3214HXUK. Note: Due to the electronics fitted to the wash motor it is not possible to test the wash pump motor with test equipment. Pump Motor: Check the wiring and data control lead connections to the Wash Pump Motor. Check the wiring between the Wash Pump Motor and Power Module. Replace the module. N.B: If a module is replaced or reprogrammed, the water hardness setting will have to be reset. Fault Code 12 Communication Error Check connection and continuity of cable / connectors on lead between LED Display and Control Module. Fault Code 15 Virtual sensor The BLAC draini pump has signalled water in the dishwasher, but the dishwasher should be empty - see pages 11 to 13. Also refer to Fault Notes on the following page. 23 of 40

24 Fault Notes Blocked Filter There is NOT a fault code for a blocked filter. The large surface area of the filter makes a blocked filter very unlikely. If the filter was completely blocked, and the pressure switch had not moved to the FULL position after a maximum fill of 5.5 litres of water, the machine will drain and continue with the cycle. The symptoms of a blocked filter would be Poor Wash Results and a very quick cycle. Filling After the initial drain period, it is normal at the start of a cycle for the machine to pause for a period before filling. Heating Element An open circuit heating element can display either the heating time out fault code (Fault Code 6) or the open circuit heater fault code (Fault Code 10), depending on the cycle in progress or the phase of the cycle when the heater fails. If a dishwasher has an open circuit heating element, the machine may run for up to 75 minutes before a fault code will display. Programme Times The times in the handbook and displayed at the start of the cycle, are average times and will be affected by the following points: Inlet water temperature below 19 C Tab option enabled Water hardness setting set to positions 4 or 5 Condition of the heating element (limescale built up) Excessive foam caused by using tablets with a small or light load. NOTE: - The display is not a count down timer. It is normal occasionally for the same time to show for an extended period. Machine Starts up for a few minutes when not in use The machine inlet valve is 'letting by' and water is leaking into the machine when not in use. Providing the machine is plugged in and the door closed (it does not have to be switched on), once the water in the machine is enough to operate the pressure switch to full level, the machine drain pump will energise until the pressure switch resets to empty (plus 30seconds). Note: - Fault code A:2 displays if the water letting by is fast enough to be recognised by the water turbine. It is recommended before a module is replaced or when the fault is not obvious, the heating element is tested for continuity and resistance to earth at its terminals, with the heater disconnected. 24 of 40

27 MODULE PROGRAMMINg The module will always be supplied without a programme when supplied as a spare part. Note: This board does not have a physically replaceable Eeprom. Programming a Module: There are a number of ways the board can be programmed - some of which are not applicable to certain markets. Types of programming: 1. Handheld Terminal (Not UK) 2. Emit / Memwriter (UK Indesit Service Engineers) - see next page. 3. Smart Reader & Smart Card (certain area's of UK market) see photo below. MODULE PROGRAMMING (Using Smartcard Reader / Card) If the Main Module has been replaced during a repair the module will require programming using the following method. Smart Card Reader This holds the smart card. It is the interface between the smart card and the module. Smart Card this card holds the EEPROM program file and can only be used ONCE. Programming Cover Panel The cover panel is located below the door. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to release the cover. 1. Do NOT connect the machine to electrical supply. 2. Insert the pre-programmed card into the Card reader. Care must be taken at this point to ensure the card is inserted correctly with the Chip on the card facing the PCB of the Reader. 3. Insert the Reader & Card into module connection port - see photo. You MUST hold the Reader in place whilst programming is taking place. 4. Connect the machine to the Electrical supply, the LED's on the Smart Card Reader will light in this sequence: a) Red OFF: Good Communication between Smart Card Reader & Card. b) Red OFF; Green Blinking: Download taking place. c) At end, Green ON ---> Download OK. d) At end, Red ON ---> Download NOT OK. 5. Programming Complete, disconnect the machine from Electrical supply. 6. Remove the Smart Card Reader. Smart Card Reader and Smart Card in use You MUST hold the Reader in place whilst programming is taking place. The same location and method is used for the Hardware Key 27 of 40

28 PROGRAMMING (Using EMIT) The dishwasher can be programmed via the Emit PC, using a USB to Serial lead (Part No. C ), Hardware Key (Part No. C ) and the Memwriter software. Black Serial Hardware Key USB - Serial Cable Other types of Cable exist Replacement pins for the Hardware Key are available as Part No. C (Qty = 1) The Black Hardware Key and USB Serial Cable will be replaced with a new style Hardware Key and Cable which now has a USB connection. It has shorter, more robust pins, similar to those currently fitted into the SmartCard Reader. It is not possible to mix old and new (below) cables or keys. Note: The power light on the Key above is GREEN. The clear type Key below has a RED light. Note: - The USB Hardware Key also supports a low voltage connection point which allows an external power supply to be connected to the Hardware Key which enables the main module to be programmed with a settings file prior to fitting it to an appliance. ** NOT applicable to UK Service Engineers. Do not connect anything to this connection point. USB Hardware Key - C USB Cable C Low Voltage Connection Point (not used) USB Connection These items are supplied separately 28 of 40

29 SERVICING NOTES & DISMANTLING INSTRUCTIONS SAFETY NOTES:- 1. ENSURE THAT THE MACHINE IS UNPLUGGED BEFORE DISMANTLING. 2. BEWARE OF SHARP EDGES ON METAL PANELS AND PRESSED PARTS. Access to all components are via the side panels, front plinth or the access panel in the base tray. A. Side Panels 1. Remove the 6 screws securing the side panel. (3 front, 3 rear). 2. Using a flat bladed screwdriver, ease the panel over the location pegs and lift away. B. Front Access Flap 1. Remove 2 securing screws. 2. Release 2 locking clips. 3. Carefully open flap releasing wiring harness from top edge. Note: (The Control Module is attached to the flap). 4. When refitting be careful not to trap any wires. Release access flap locking tabs C. Control Module 1. Release front access flap as in B). and release harness retaining clip before hinging down. 2. Slide power module towards connections to release from access panel. 3. Note position and remove connections. 4. Release board from carrier. Ensure that the harness is clipped back into place when the flap is closed Front Access panel opens out with Control Module Attached. 29 of 40

30 D. Base Unit Access Panel 1. Protect the customers flooring. 2. Being careful not to damage the waste hose carefully lay the machine on its back. 3. Remove any screws that may have been fitted to replace broken clips. 4. Release 2 fixing clips on front edge. 5. Ease panel forwards releasing lugs from rear of panel. Locking Tabs Access panel removed E. Circulating Motor & Heater 1. Remove base access panel as in D). 2. Release 2 hose clips and hoses. 3. Ease motor towards front away from mounting bracket. 4. Separate motor from heater by twisting in a clockwise direction. 5. Important On reassembly:- a. Do not reuse the removed hose clips. Replace with new clips C b. Ensure 'O' ring is correctly positioned to avoid leaks. Circulating Motor & Heater Unit F. Alternating Motor 1. Remove base access panel as in D). 2. Pull out and remove rear foot adjusting rod. 3. Remove hose clip. 4. Disconnect wiring. 5. Undo the 4 securing screws and lift motor free. 30 of 40

31 G. Drain Pump 1. Remove base access panel as in D). 2. Release drain hose by gently pulling away from pump. 3. Twist pump motor anti-clockwise to release it from the sump. 4. Ensure 'O' ring is positioned correctly to avoid leaks. H. Pressure Switch 1. Facing the front of machine remove right hand side panel as in A). 2. Using suitable pliers squeeze clip and release pressure switch. 3. Disconnect wiring. I. Overflow Unit (base float switch) 1. Facing the front of machine remove right hand side panel as in A). 2. Release clip and slid unit from base frame. 3. Disconnect wiring. 4. Float and switch can now be separated from unit. Clip J. Air-break & Turbine 1. Facing the front of machine remove l/h side panel as in A). 2. Unscrew the ring nut fixing the air-break to the D/W tank. 3. Disconnect flow meter wiring. 4. Lift air-break up and release from water softener. 5. Disconnect inlet pipe. 31 of 40

32 K. Water Softener 1. Remove air-break as in J). 2. Unscrew salt cap and ring nut of water softener. 3. Remove base access panel as in D). 4. Release hose from sump to water softener. 5. Disconnect salt reading module and regeneration valve wiring and release the water softener from its fixing clip. 6. Rotate the water softener outwards from regeneration valve end and lift up to allow filler neck to be removed from the tank. L. Sump 1. Remove filters and lower spray arm. 2. Remove 2 fixing screws and detach upper wash arm inlet pipe from sump. 3. Remove 4 screws from sump ring and remove 4. Follow steps D), E), F) and G). 5. Remove wiring to turbidity sensor, detach the NTC and remove the sump. M. Turbidity Sensor 1. Facing the front of machine remove r/h side panel as in A). 2. Ease clips away from unit and withdraw sensor. 3. Disconnect wiring. N. Dispenser The dispenser cannot currently be replaced as an individual part. It is part of the inner door panel. 32 of 40

33 O. Display Board 1. Remove the outer furniture door. 2. Remove 6 screws securing console panel to inner door. 3. Ease panel away from inner door. 4. Disconnect wiring - observe correct location and orientation before removal. 5. Using a flat blade screwdriver release the left hand securing tab first, to avoid damaging the buttons. 34 P. Door Hinge 1. Remove the front panel and both side panels. 2. Partially open the door (half way). Insert a sturdy pin (or pop rivet etc.) in the hinge hole (in both left and right hinges) to keep the door half open. Note 1: IT IS IMPERATIVE THIS IS DONE BEFORE ANY FIXINGS ARE REMOVED. Note 2: New hinges are supplied with a Temporary Locking Pin. DO NOT REMOVE these pins until after full re-assembly. Each NEW hinge is locked in position by a temporary pin. DO NOT REMOVE until BOTH hinges are fixed to the Door and Dishwasher body. 3. Using pliers take off the tie rod, turning it around its fastening. 4. Disconnect the Earth Tags (Fastons) located on the hinges. 5. Remove 4 screws (2 in each side) fixing the inner door and pull out. 6. Pull the inner door upwards. 7. Remove the screws** located on the inner part of the dishwasher, fixing the hinges to the wash tank. **Note: One screw each side. 8. Remove 4 screws - 2 per hinge - at the base of the dishwasher. Remove 2 screws each side 9. Fit the new hinges in reverse order. Also refit both Earth Tags and make sure they are secure. The final action is to remove both Temporary Locking Pins as shown in (2) above. 34 of 40
