2 Introduction Dear Customer, Thank you for the trust in us you have demonstrated by purchasing a NIKO product. We have taken care to provide you with an efficient and reliable product. We ask you to carefully read this operation manual and note the directions before using the machine. The operation manual will fully explain the operation of the machine and give you valuable information regarding the initialization of operations, maintenance and care. This is important, as warranty replacement claims cannot be recognized for damages caused by operator error or improper use. Inspections and Preventive Maintenance Warranty Conditions Product Description The herbicide sprayer is equipped with special nozzles either on one side or, dependent upon use and nozzle arrangement, on both sides or even for spraying complete areas. An easy to operate, high performance device has been created with a robust construction. The nozzle rod can be adjusted to variable widths and put in various settings. 1. Designated Use The herbicide sprayer is exclusive designated for: The spraying of orchards and vineyards This sprayer will be primarily be used on steep slopes. The machine is not intended for uses other than those listed here they will be deemed to be improper uses! We especially point out that it is not allowed to: Put people and animals in contact with the spray 1

5 12V Plug Connection To Bulldozer HY Side View of the Sprayer Water Filter: Hoses must be connected tightly. The water filter should be cleaned and inspected after every use. Leak Return Hose: Ensure that the plug connections are clean. It is also very important that these plug connections are 100% sealed, otherwise there is the risk that the pump will not perform optimally!!! Nozzle Elements: The nozzle elements/rods can be adjusted to a desired width; loosen the adjustment screw on the rod and set the desired width. 7 Shuflo Electronic Pump Water Pump Instructions Ensure by All Means Prior to Initialization of Operations: Ensure that all connections are correct and firmly connected. Cleaning and Maintenance of the Pump: It is very important that the pump be rinsed clean after every use. Store in a frost protected location during the winter months, with no water.!!! WARNING DANGER OF BURSTING!!! WARNING: Spray product, type and amount must be subjected to the corresponding regulations at the user's location. The user must comply with all regulations. 5

14 General Safety Instructions 1. Operator s Obligation to Exercise Diligence The Herbicide Sprayer was designed and constructed under consideration of a risk analysis and after careful selection of the harmonized norms to be maintained, as well as additional technical specifications. It is state of the art and guarantees a high measure of safety. This safety, however, can only be reached during operational use when all measures required for it are met. The planning of these measures and the examination of their execution falls under the operator s obligation to exercise diligence. The operator must especially ensure that: - The machine may only be used for its designated purpose (see Production Description section) - The machine can only be operated in faultless, fully functional condition and the safety devices must especially have their functionality regularly inspected - The required personal protective equipment for the operating, maintenance and repair personnel must be available and be used - The operation manual must always be available in a complete and readable condition at the location where the machine is used - Only sufficiently qualified and authorized personnel may operate, maintain and repair the machine - These personnel will be regularly instructed regarding all relevant issues of occupational safety and environmental protection as well as be made familiar with the operation manual and, especially, all of the safety instructions contained within it - All safety and warning notices placed on the machine are not removed and remain legible 2. Explanation of the Symbols Used The following safety symbols are used in this operation manual. The symbols should, above all, make the reader aware of the safety instructions written alongside the text. These symbols indicate that danger to the life and health of persons exists. Danger This symbol indicates that danger to the machine, material or environment exists. Warning 14

15 GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 3. Basic Security Measures, Requirements of the Operating Personnel, Special Types of Danger Safety Instruction for NIKO Herbicide Sprayers The device may only be operated by adults. Exception: Trainees older than 16 years of age! The motor sprayer operator should be trained in handling chemicals and in first aid. Protective equipment provided by the manufacturer may not be removed! Corresponding protective clothes, mouth and hearing protection must be worn here as well. If work on the machine is necessary, this work may only be conducted when the motor is powered down and the key removed from the ignition. Only refuel when the motor is turned off. Do not smoke. Do not allow any open flame. To protect the environment, immediately clean up any spilled gasoline. Do not work on or store the machine in the vicinity of open fire. Do not start the motor in closed rooms. Sufficient ventilation must be ensured in greenhouses. Only allow repairs to be made by your retailer!!! Safety Measures in the Event of Accidents with the Spray Products When working with plant protection products and these come into contact with the skin or eyes, immediately wash these areas with clean water. If symptoms such as: Nausea, dizziness, attacks of sweating, severe headaches, itching occur, immediately conduct the following measures: Immediately stop working. If the spray product comes into contact with clothing, remove it immediately. Lie still and be absolutely quiet. Inform your doctor immediately. If the spray product is swallowed and causes nausea and vomiting, immediately inform a doctor. Show the doctor the spray product packaging or usage instructions. If there is suspicion of being poisoned, do not consume any milk, butter, eggs, castor oil or alcohol! These products may increase the danger of being poisoned!!! Recommended Disposal of Excess Amounts Should there be remaining amounts of spray products which were not able to be previously estimated caused by false estimation of the amount or similar reasons, such as a falsely estimated spray area size, improperly set spraying device, false speed, too much water in the spray container, weather changes or similar reasons, these are to be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the individual states or municipalities. Remaining amounts of spray products may absolutely not be disposed of in water, ditches, sewers or similar locations. These liquid remnants may also not be disposed of in waste areas. These remnants may not remain in the spray product container in any circumstances. In the event of a small amount of remnants, it is recommended that these be diluted at approximately 1:10 and then sprayed over the area that has already been treated. Packaging that has been completely emptied may be disposed of in the household waste. If there are still remnants of spray products in the containers, we recommend bringing these to special collections areas for household chemicals. The administration of your municipality will provide information regarding this!!! 15

16 Transportation In order to avoid damage to the machine or life threatening injuries while transporting the machine, the following items must absolutely be adhered to: - Transportation may only be conducted by qualified personnel under compliance with the safety instructions. - The machine may only be lifted using the suspension points provided. - Only the load-bearing and suspension products indicated here may be used to transport the machine. - The machine can only be transported with the bulldozer; if this is not possible, the machine should be transported on palettes. 1. 17 Initialization of Operations In order to avoid damage to the machine or life threatening injuries while initializing the operation of the machine, the following items must absolutely be adhered to: - The initialization of operations of the machine may only be conducted by qualified personnel under compliance with the safety instructions. - Prior to the first use of machine, make sure that all tools and external parts have been removed from the machine. - Activate all safety equipment and emergency shut down devices prior to the initialization of operations. - Inspect this prior to starting up the motor. - Please also read the General Safety Instructions section. 1. Create Supply and Disposal Connections Please read the General Safety Instructions and Setup section for this. Check to be sure the pump connections are sealed, Check to be sure that the hoses and plug couplings are tightly sealed. Operation In order to avoid damage to the machine or life threatening injuries while operating the machine, the following items must absolutely be adhered to: - The machine may only be operated/used in accordance with its designated usage. - Inform yourself of the proper conduct in the event of malfunctions prior to turning on the machine. - Please also read the General Safety Instructions section. 17

18 Troubleshooting In order to avoid damage to the machine or life threatening injuries while remedying malfunctions in the machine, the following items must absolutely be adhered to: - Only repair a malfunction if you have the required qualifications to do so. - First, secure the machine against unintentionally being turned back on by removing the key from the ignition.- - Use a second person to guarantee an emergency shutdown of the machine at all times. - Secure the area used by moving parts of the machine. - Please also read the General Safety Instructions section. 19 HELP WITH MALFUNCTIONS Maintenance In order to avoid damage to the machine or life threatening injuries while servicing the machine, the following items must absolutely be adhered to: - First ensure a spacious area for the maintenance work. - Turn off all voltage sources and secure the voltage sources against unintentionally being turned back on. - Render all of the pressure devices pressure less. - Use only original replacement parts which are listed on our replacement parts lists. - Please also read the General Safety Instructions section. 1. 20 HELP WITH MALFUNCTIONS Warranty Conditions NIKO products are produced with great care using modern manufacturing methods and are subjected to numerous inspections. Therefore, NIKO provides warranties of 12 months if the following conditions are fulfilled: 1.) The warranty begins with the date of the purchase. 2.) The warranty covers material and production defects. We are only liable within the framework of the warranty of the respective manufacturer for third party products (hydraulics, electronics, motor). Production and material defects will be remedied by replacement or improvement to the affected parts free of charge during the warranty period. Other, additional rights, such as claims for conversion, reduction or rectification of damages which did not to the object of the delivery are expressly prohibited. The warranty services take place exclusively through authorized work centers, the NIKO production representatives or the factory. 3.) The results of natural wear, debris, corrosion and all error caused by improper use as well as external influences are excepted from the warranty services. The warranty is voided in the event of the independent conducting of repairs or alterations to the original conditions. The replacement part claim is voided if NIKO original replacement parts are not used. Please carefully read the operation manual. In all cases of doubt, please consult our production representatives or the factory. Warranty claims must be asserted to the factory within 30 days after the occurrence of the damage. Please provide the purchase date and machine number and please use our warranty claim form. Repairs that are to be conducted under the warranty may only be conducted by authorized work centers after consultation with NIKO, please indicate this to your retailer. The warranty period does not extend in the event of work covered by the warranty! Transportation damages are not production errors and are thus not covered by the manufacturer s obligation to provide a guarantee. 4.) Claims for the compensation of damages which did not occur to the product itself are prohibited. This also means that liability for consequential damages due to operator errors is prohibited. Independent alterations to the product can lead to consequential damages and rule out liability on the part of the deliverer for these damages. 3
