Make sure you set up the Super-Flow system on a level, flat surface. Since the system works on gravity, setting up system on a sloped or uneven surface will likely cause spilling or other complications. DO NOT remove fabric pots during FILL cycle, as flooding or spills will occur. DO NOT fill fabric pots with grow medium or attempt to plant while fabric pot is inside grow sites. Grow medium spilled into green grow site buckets can clog irrigation lines. Plant your plants outside the system and make sure the outside of fabric pot is clean before placing them in the grow sites. Packing down grow medium is helpful is most cases. Make sure to fill grow medium to correct level in fabric pots. Remember, some grow mediums such as coco coir and some soils soak upwards like a sponge when watered. Therefore, you would want to fill coco coir or soil slightly higher level in the pot then you would with clay pebbles or rocks. Refer to setup instructions for further details. Before running the Super-Flow for the first time, SOAK PLANTED FABRIC POTS by hand watering or top feeding. This helps to keep the system clean as well as prevents the fabric pots from floating, which can sometimes happen the first time you run the system if you ignore this step. When connecting irrigation tubing to barbed connectors, make sure to push tubing COMPLETELY onto barb for the most secure seal. Flooding can happen from poorly secured tubing. Never top-off water or nutrients into the reservoir when the during the FILL cycle. Overflow will likely occur afterwards when nutrients are pumped back from the grow sites during DRAIN cycle. Only fill reservoir with water or nutrients while system is idle. DO NOT attempt to service Gro-Commander controller module, as there are no serviceable parts and any tampering voids warranty. If controller is not working properly, see troubleshooting guide for possible fixes or call XL-YIELD to speak with one of our service technicians. Make sure to check your power source for proper voltage prior to plugging in your Gro-Commander controller module. Some popular microbiological nutrients, additives, and plant growth regulators (PNGs) tend to thicken up your liquid nutrient solution. When using these type of liquid nutrients, it is advised to leave an additional pump or water circulating device running in the reservoir. You can leave it on at all times or cycle the pump on a timer. This will help keep the nutrients fresh and moving, and help avoid any thickening or solidifying these type of nutrients may cause. 1 Log onto our website, for tips about use and setup. 4 Setting up the SUPER-FLOW system 1. Decide on your grow area layout DETERMINE DESIRED LOCATION FOR SETTING UP THE SYSTEM. SINCE THE SYSTEM WORKS ON GRAVITY, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE GROW SITES BE ON THE SAME LEVEL SURFACE AS THE CONTROLLER BUCKET. Grow sites should be set up and spaced out according to your lighting footprint. System can be expanded up to 18 grow sites with the 55 gallon reservoir. Further expansion can easily be achieved by using a large capacity reservoir. There are four irrigation outputs installed in bottom of the Gro-Commander Controller, that allow flow of water/nutrients from the controller to the grow sites. Grow Room Layout Options - Page 8 Two of the outputs have elbow connectors pre-installed in the grommets and are ready for use. The other two outputs have grommets with solid ¾ inch plugs pre-installed to block water flow. If using more than 12 grow sites, it is advised to use all 4 outputs. To do this, simply remove the plugs and insert connectors. This allows your grow site layout to be completely customizable and easily expanded. Optimum distance of tubing between grow sites depends on size and variety of plant. For most applications, ft of distance between grow sites should be ideal. WARNING: MAKE SURE TO SET UP SYSTEM ON A LEVEL SURFACE. IF THE CONTROLLER BUCKET IS HIGHER THAN THE GROW SITES, OVERFLOWING OR SPILLING MAY OCCUR. 2. Install Gro-Commander Controller Module Lid Press the lid down firmly on the top of controller module to secure it in place. Make sure the side with the grommets and connectors installed is placed on the opposite side of where the float switches are mounted on the controller bucket. 3

5 3. Set up Gro-Commander Controller next to reservoir Set Gro-Commander on floor approximately 6-18 inches away from reservoir, with timer module box facing away from reservoir. Rotate reservoir until grommets mounted on top lip of reservoir are facing the Gro-Commander. 4. Install Fill Tube Line and FILL PUMP Lubricate inside of grommet mounted in reservoir that has power cord running along side it. Next, from the inside of the reservoir, push and feed the end of the FILL tube closest to the anti-siphon valve through FILL grommet all the way until the siphon is located near the top of the grommet. Lubricating the inside of the grommet before inserting tube will ease friction. FILL grommet has power cord from pump running next to it. IMPORTANT: Always keep water/nutrient level below anti-siphon valve! This keeps nutrients from being flooded into controller! After tube is pushed through to the outside of reservoir, take the same end of tube that was just fed though and connect it to the pre-installed 1 inch to ¾ connector fitting, which is located on the lid of Gro-Commander controller. Hold and brace connector and grommet from beneath lid with one hand while pushing tubing securely onto connector with the other. Next, connect the Fill Pump securely to other end of tubing, which should be near the bottom of reservoir. The plug for the FILL pump should be pre-installed on the outside of reservoir. Plug FILL pump into ONE OF THE TOP TWO OUTLETS ON THE SIDE OF GRO-COMMANDER. The TOP TWO OUTLETS are reserved for FILL CYCLE PUMPS and ACCESSORIES ONLY. 4

Setting up the SUPER-FLOW system 5. Install Drain Irrigation Tube and DRAIN PUMP Similar to step 4, install the drain tube.

Lubricating the inside of the grommet before inserting tube will help.

Gro-Commander, opposite of the FILL connection. This end of the tube will connect DIRECTLY TO THE DRAIN PUMP. If there is any slack, cut with tubing cutters.

Make sure to push drain pump downward lightly to secure drain pump suction cups to floor of controller. Connect drain tube securely to drain pump.

Next, take the plug from DRAIN pump and run it upwards, through the hole in the back middle of lid.

6 Setting up the SUPER-FLOW system 5. Install Drain Irrigation Tube and DRAIN PUMP Similar to step 4, install the drain tube. From the inside of the reservoir, push and feed the end of Drain tube without the elbow fitting pre-installed through drain grommet to the outside of the reservoir. Lubricating the inside of the grommet before inserting tube will help. Next, take the same end of the drain tube that was just fed through to the outside of the reservoir and continue to feed it downward, through the grommet located on the top lid of the Gro-Commander, opposite of the FILL connection. This end of the tube will connect DIRECTLY TO THE DRAIN PUMP. If there is any slack, cut with tubing cutters. Place DRAIN pump securely in back corner directly under DRAIN tubing being fed in. The tube should be straight after installation. Make sure to push drain pump downward lightly to secure drain pump suction cups to floor of controller. Connect drain tube securely to drain pump. It is important that the DRAIN pump remain flat against bottom and secured in order to drain properly. Next, take the plug from DRAIN pump and run it upwards, through the hole in the back middle of lid. Once pushed through hole, plug drain pump into ONE OF THE TWO BOTTOM OUTLETS ON SIDE OF GRO-COMMANDER. The bottom two outlets are reserved for DRAIN PUMPS and ACCESSORIES only. 6. Insert Connection Tees into Grow Sites Insert connection tees into the grommets located at the bottom of the grow sites as shown in picture below. TIP: Place a small amount of the food safe organic vegetable oil (included) onto your fingertips and spread it around on the inside lip of grommet as well as on the outside surface of the connector tee. The lube eases the insertion process between grommets, connectors, and tubing during setup. Make sure connector tees are inserted securely into grommets. 7. Lay out Grow Sites Lay out your grow sites to match your grow area layout you decided upon in step #1. 5

8. Measure and connect irrigation tubing Once grow sites are laid out, measure distance between the connector tees.

No slack is needed in between. Continue connecting tubing between grow sites until you have 3 in each row (for 6 Site System). There should never be an end bucket or grow site.

This is a secure connection: Make sure to connect tubing SECURELY onto connector tees and elbows by pushing the tubing COMPLETELY onto the plastic tee connectors and past the barbs as shown below.

7 8. Measure and connect irrigation tubing Once grow sites are laid out, measure distance between the connector tees. Using the flexible hose cutters, carefully cut the tubing to length needed between grow sites. First connections made should be from the controller to the first grow sites in each row. No slack is needed in between. Continue connecting tubing between grow sites until you have 3 in each row (for 6 Site System). There should never be an end bucket or grow site. All end or last bucket on a row should be connected to other end site to form a loop. This helps promote even feeding. VERY IMPORTANT! This is a secure connection: Make sure to connect tubing SECURELY onto connector tees and elbows by pushing the tubing COMPLETELY onto the plastic tee connectors and past the barbs as shown below. The #1 cause of leaks in these style ebb and flow systems are from poorly secured connections. These are safe systems if you make the connection securely as shown here: 9. Place support inserts into bottom of grow sites Set support inserts in bottom of grow sites so that the cross section supports does not interfere with irrigation tees. The inserts should sit flush and flat at the bottom of bucket. 10. Fill fabric pots with grow medium and plants Place plants in fabric pots and fill with your grow medium of choice. The optimum planting height is different in some grow mediums. Remember, some grow mediums such as coco coir and some soil mixes soak upwards like a sponge when watered from beneath like the Super-Flow does. Therefore, you would want to fill coco coir or soil slightly higher level in the pot then you would with clay pebbles or rocks. The water level should rise up to about 1.5 to 2 inches from the top of the grow sites. Adjust medium height accordingly. IMPORTANT: Before running the Super-Flow for the first time, SOAK PLANTED FABRIC POTS WITH MEDIUM INCLUDED by watering by hand or top feeding. Fabric pots should be placed into system for the first time heavy, wet, and watered. This helps to keep the system clean by flushing out any dust or really small particles in the grow medium as well as prevents the fabric pots from floating, which can sometimes happen the first time you run the system if you ignore this step. 6

Understanding the Gro-Commander Controller and setting up feeding schedules The Gro-Commander Controller easily and efficiently waters your plants. While very simple to operate, its very important to understand the complete function of the unit. Most growers will want to utilize the automatic watering feature. If using automatic watering, the Gro-Commander does all the watering work for you after initial setup. SETTING MODES: There are 3 modes the controller can be set up for. The modes are controlled by the white toggle switch located on the right hand side of timer. The modes are as follows: MIDDLE SETTING: AUTOMATIC WATERING This is the mode you want for almost all applications. The controller should come pre-set in this position. ALWAYS KEEP THE SWITCH IN THIS POSITION IF YOU WANT YOUR PLANTS TO BE AUTOMATICALLY WATERED ON A FEED SCHEDULE. Each 15 minute increment equals 15 minutes of watering time. Example is shown below. This should water a 12 Site Super Flow system comfortably. For larger setups, 30 min watering (two tabs pushed out consecutively) can be utilized. TOP SETTING: MANUAL FILL This mode is for growers that want complete manual control of their feeding schedule. As soon as you flip the switch in the up position, the FILL pump will turn on, and the controller will water your plants up to the maximum fill level dictated by the float switches. Once system is filled, it will remain filled until you manually choose to DRAIN the system. This is very important because a switch accidently left on for a long period in the upward MANUAL FILL position can keep your roots submerged in water longer then desired, suffocating your root system of oxygen. This MANUAL FILL feature was specifically designed for growers that water less than once per day, such as every other day. The only time this mode should be used is if your medium retains a lot of water, and must be watered less than once per day. BOTTOM SETTING: MANUAL DRAIN - This mode is draining the system, for those growers that use the MANUAL FILL mode to water your plants. If using manual FILL/DRAIN MODES, flip to MANUAL DRAIN mode as soon as your plants have been completely watered during the MANUAL FILL mode. As soon as you flip the switch in the downward position, the DRAIN pump will turn on and will remove all water in the system and return it to the reservoir. If left in the MANUAL DRAIN mode, nutrients will remain in reservoir and FILL PUMP will not activate again until you manually switch modes. 7

11 Warranty Information Oxygen Pot Systems warrants the original purchase of this product against defects in material and workmanship under normal use for three (3) years from the date of purchase. During the warranty period, Oxygen Pot Systems, at our option, without charge, will repair or replace this product if the controller or any of its components fail or malfunction. Shipping costs for the damaged unit back to us for repair are the responsibility of the buyer. We cover shipping of replaced/repaired unit.
