2 Why Fantasia? Formed in 1985, Fantasia Ceiling Fans are credited as the pioneers of the UK ceiling fan market and have developed a reputation for exceptional quality, service and value for money. Fantasia fans combine large motors with a steep blade pitch to maximize the circulation of air whilst ensuring quiet, efficient and wobblefree operation. This enables us to confidently offer a 10 year warranty on our fan motors. The Fantasia range of both contemporary and traditional styles has been continuously developed over the past two decades and now consists of over 20 models in 18 finishes and 8 sizes. These are complemented by a comprehensive range of accessories such as light kits, wall lights, remote controls and wall controls. Some models come complete with lights but most are light adaptable giving a wide variety of options to suit individual tastes. Our mission at Fantasia is to provide both high quality products and an after sales service that is second to none. 3 New Designs For 2008 we have introduced the revolutionary Alpha fan which, with its high efficiency, low-voltage DC motor, is completely unique in the UK. The Alpha consumes 60% less electricity than a traditional AC motor, has 6 speeds in forward and reverse as well as an integral remote control with built-in reverse function. Also new this year is the stylish Sigma fan complete with 100w light and available in White or Stainless Steel, and the contemporary Aurora in Pewter or Stainless Steel with acrylic blades. We have expanded our colonial style range with the addition of the Wicker fan. The Savannah range has also been modified and now includes an Antique Brass finish as well as two exciting new Tiffany shade designs. Environment We consider care for the environment to be one of our key responsibilities and an important part of the way in which we do business. Protection of the environment in which we live and operate is part of Fantasia s values and principles. Our 2008 brochure is printed on FSC Certified stock which ensures that the paper comes only from well managed forests. All new office paper we buy is 100% recycled and the cardboard boxes we buy are made of 60% recycled material. We strive to protect the environment by limiting our contribution to pollution of land, air, and water, seeking to keep wastage to a minimum and maximising our efficient use of materials and resources. We are energy conscious when looking for new product and are at the forefront of environmentally friendly product development, introducing a DC motor fan for 2008 which uses 60% less power consumption than a standard fan. The winter setting on our ceiling fans re-circulates warm air trapped at ceiling level, eliminating cold spots and draughts and distributing room heat without creating a cooling draft. Used correctly, a fan can save as much as 10% on energy bills during winter months. 5 Alpha ceiling fans NEW! The Alpha ceiling fan comes with brand new pulse technology enabling you to create a natural breeze on those hot Summer days. When set to pulse the ceiling fan will vary its speed creating a breeze effect to keep you cool. This new technology is exclusive to the Alpha ceiling fan. 60% less power consumption than a standard ceiling fan 6 Speeds in forward and 6 in reverse Remote control operates reverse function The addition of the DC motor Alpha fan to our range demonstrates our commitment to developing efficient, effective fans. The Alpha s control system takes your household power supply and converts this to a low voltage supply for the windings. The Brushless DC (BLDC) motor has permanent magnets which respond to the varying DC signals from the control system that in turn generate the motion required of a fan. This means lower heat dissipation, quieter operation and lower magnetic interference. A greater degree of speed control can be applied to DC motors and the Alpha offers 6 forward and 6 reverse speeds; twice that of a normal fan. 47 Accessories Conversion Kit This is required when changing a flush mounted fan (fig 1) to a drop mount (fig 2). The conversion kit will allow a fan to be mounted on a slope up to 40 degrees. Different finishes available (refer to price list) Anatomy of a Conversion Kit (fig 1) (fig 2) Big Strip Fastener This can be useful in some conservatory installations. Ask your conservatory supplier whether a big strip fastener is suitable for your installation. Drop Rods A drop rod lowers the fan to the required height above the floor. Available in lengths from 12 (30cm) to 72 (183cm). Please check carefully the type of drop rod the fan requires. Check whether the ceiling fan ordered requires a 22mm diameter drop rod or a 27mm diameter drop rod. Drop rods can be cut to size. Some finishes of drop rod are only available up to 30 (76cm) in length. 45

48 Useful Info When choosing a ceiling fan it is important to remember that it is more relaxing and efficient to run a larger fan on a slower speed than a smaller fan on a high speed. Fantasia Fans range in size from 36"/91cm to 56"/142cm in diameter to suit any installation. We do not recommend the use of a 36" fan in a conservatory, as it would not be sufficient to affect the build up of heat that a conservatory creates. A conservatory installation may require a drop rod and conversion kit. A drop rod and conversion kit can be ordered separately for flush mounted fans. The guide below suggests the fan size most appropriate for the installation. For rooms with higher ceilings a drop rod should be used to drop the fan down to 8ft/2.43m above the floor. Should the room have abnormal heat conditions go to the next fan size up in relation to the information in the above size guide. Fan blades Fantasia fan blades are available in many different finishes. They can be swapped within each range. Often there is a different finish on the reverse side of the blade. The blade can be attached either way up to compliment different interiors. See page 48 for full blade listing. Conversion kits Flush mounted fans can be converted to drop mount by using a conversion kit and drop rod. Dual mount fans do not require conversion kits. Wiring Fantasia Fans run from standard lighting wiring (two core and earth). If you wish to install a double wall control then three core and earth wiring is required. Installation We recommend installation is carried out in accordance with National Electrical Codes. The fixing point for the ceiling fan must be strong enough to hold 10 times the fan s stationary weight. Minimum recommended ceiling height for fan installation is 8'2"/2.5m. Ensure there is at least 8"/20cm between the fan blade and any obstruction. Remote control This is a popular way of controlling our ceiling fans and lights. The remote control consists of a handset and receiver and can be installed in any of our fans. You can fit the remote control after the fan has been installed. The remote control cannot be used in conjunction with a wall control. Technical Fantasia fans can be operated in summer for a cooling effect and reversed in winter to recirculate warm air trapped at ceiling level. Fantasia fan motors are of silicon steel construction with double sealed bearings, ensuring long, quiet, reliable and maintenance-free operation. Fantasia motor housings are of metal or wood construction. All metal surfaces are powder coated or plated and lacquered to give a permanent seal and prevent tarnishing. All models operate on volt AC/50 60 Hz electricity supply. The power rating of our fan motors range from watts with 3 forward and 3 reverse speeds. Fan running costs are less than running a 100w light bulb for the same period. Installing a Fantasia fan is similar to installing a light fitting but you must ensure that the fan blade tips are at least 8 (20cm) from any obstruction such as a sloping roof or beam. Blades should be mounted at least 7ft 6 (2.3m) from the floor. Ceiling fans can be installed in any room, except bathrooms. In conservatories or rooms with higher ceilings a drop rod and conversion kit may be required (see page 45 for more information). Wall controls and remote controls are also available.
