2 BIG IDEAS IN THE BATHROOM When it comes to cleaning and organisation, the smallest room in the house can often throw up the biggest challenges. Daily personal hygiene routines all create mess and require a wide variety of toiletry and grooming items to perform. Limited space, permanent wet zones and hard-to-clean areas are just some of the problems faced in the bathroom. Having won numerous awards for innovation in kitchenware, Joseph Joseph have now applied their unique problemsolving skills to this key area of the home with the launch of a brand new range of bathroom accessories. This totally new category for Joseph Joseph is a natural progression for a brand with a global reputation for producing inventive, high-quality products that are a pleasure to use. Individually, each item in the new Joseph Joseph bathroom range has it s own unique features. TOOTHBRUSH HOLDERS Impractical; hard to clean SOAP DISHES Space inefficient; messy; hard to clean Bathrooms can easily become messy, disorganised environments and there s no shortage of products available to help. TOILET BRUSHES Clog with dirt; drip on the floor; ineffective But do any of these items really address the problems or merely add to it? For example, many toothbrush holders can be impractical, cumbersome or difficult to clean. Sometimes they can be all three. At Joseph Joseph we don t just design products for the sake of it. Everything we create has to have a real, practical purpose that makes something easier, quicker or more enjoyable. For us, if it s not brilliantly useful, it s useless. Our research in the bathroom category showed us quite quickly that the most common problem areas were: Storage & organisation Cleaning & hygiene WASTE BINS Not designed for recycling; unsightly Waste & recycling With this in mind we set about creating a range of products that would provide some truly innovative solutions to these challenges. 4 Many everyday objects can actually create problems for the user through poor design. DESIGN ORIGINS Twin brothers Richard and Antony Joseph grew up with manufacturing in their blood, spending time in the family glassmaking business. The company mainly produced decorative glass chopping boards illustrated with rustic scenes but when tastes changed and demand began to wane it was clear a fresh approach was needed. Having both trained in product design, the brothers were embarking on their early careers when their father asked them to look at reinventing the glass chopping board range. They jumped at the chance. DESIGN HERITAGE After early success with their creative, colourful designs, their entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and in 2003 they decided to go it alone and with that the Joseph Joseph brand was born. Their big leap forward though came from a simple observation - many everyday objects can actually create problems for the user through poor design. In addition, many tasks around the home could be made much easier and more enjoyable with a little intelligent thinking. Joseph Joseph continues the tradition of world-class British design with its range innovative housewares. The company takes pride in the fact that everything is designed by some of the finest talent the UK has to offer. Ideas are generated through an awardwinning team collaborating with renowned UK design studios. The design process always starts by identifying an everyday problem that people experience in the home and ends with finding an original solution that is a joy to use. 6 7

5 TOILET HYGIENE Flex is quite simply a revolution in toilet brush design. Not only does it look nothing like a conventional toilet brush, it also performs like no other, with its flexible head, anti-clog bristles and slimline design. 8 9

6 Flex Technology Conventional toilet brushes hold dirt and liquid, making them messy and unhygienic to use and clean. Also their bristles distort and wear quickly, meaning they need to be replaced regularly. Flex features a flexible, D-shaped head that reaches all areas, even under the rim. The widely spaced bristles prevent dirt clogging and allow liquid to drain quickly, which means there s less chance of dirty water dripping on the floor. 12 Slim Compact Soap Pump Design registered Slim Compact Soap Dish Design registered With space at a premium around most sinks, the narrow footprint of this stylish soap pump means it takes up less room without compromising on capacity. It features a non-drip nozzle and an easypush pump head and holds up to 350ml (12.3 fl oz) of liquid soap. Wash and dry by hand. 13 BATHROOM WASTE In the UK alone, 16 million plastic bottles that could be recycled end up going to landfill and many of these bottles originate in the bathroom. Split 8 is a dedicated bathroom bin that s designed to make it much easier to separate bathroom waste.
