2 Section 1. Introduction One of the challenges of dust collection is the buildup of static electricity as the air and dust particles pass through the air passages to the collection container. Oneida has developed technology to effectively dissipate the static buildup and minimize the effects on equipment. Oneida offers a product called the Ultimate Dust Deputy that operates in conjunction with Festool CT Dust Extractors to remove 99% of the dust before it reaches the filter. The Ultimate Dust Deputy design consciously considered the dissipation of static electricity to assure that it has no adverse effects on the Festool products. Section 2. Purpose The purpose of this testing / document is to demonstrate that the Ultimate Dust Deputy maintains the anti-static loop and does not introduce any additional resistivity to the electrical path that dissipates static charges from tools or vacuum components to ground. Lab tests were conducted by Oneida Air Systems, Inc. and duplicated by Human Electronics, Inc. Section 3. Scope Lab tests were performed on the Festool CT33, CT26E, and CT Mini products. Electrical conductivity measurements were performed on each component in the electrical path from the entry hose all the way to the ground pin on the AC power plug. Subsequently, the Ultimate Dust Deputy was installed on each Festool model and the electrical conductivity measurements were performed again to measure the effects of this configuration. The electrical conductivity measurements were also performed on each component in the electrical path of the Ultimate Dust Deputy to demonstrate the low resistance of those components. The instruments used were the BK Precision Megger meter for the higher ranges above 1 megohms and the Fluke 117 meter for measurements from 0 to 0.5 megohms. Components were elevated from floor by non-conductive supports. The test leads were kept as short as possible with alligator clips at the ends to assure a low resistance connection to each component. Section 4. Results The tables on the following page contain the detailed measurements of each test performed. Table 1 shows the data for resistance measurements of each component in the dissipation path. Table2 shows the end-to-end resistance with and without the Ultimate Dust Deputy installed. The conclusion is: The Ultimate Dust Deputy maintains the anti-static loop and does not introduce any additional resistivity to the electrical path that dissipates the static charge from the Festool CT Dust Extractors & Vacuum products.

5 Section 5. Test Organization Qualifications Human Electronics, Inc. (HEI) has been in business since 1998 providing engineering services for industry and government organizations.
