This checklist is designed to ensure that you receive thorough training and gain competence in the operation and user-performed maintenance of the Matan Matan JetSet printer. Please check each box after you have completed the task and before continuing to the next step. Do not hesitate to ask questions during the training. At the end of the training, you will be required to confirm that you have received full instructions of the listed tasks and fully understand how to carry them out. Unpacking: Opening the crate/box and releasing the Printer of the screws attached to the crate/box. Placing the Printer in its place and making sure that it s according to the site requirements. Go over the checklist located on one of the boxes and make sure you recognize by eye each part that comes separate from the printer. 1

Usage of leveling wheels. Power up procedure: PC and Rip card installation. Operation of the main power switches (from Left to Right). PC Boot up (wait). Matan JetSet Software launch. Operation of the 35V switch button, fan switch, tension motor switch and vacuum switch buttons. Usage of the Emergency stop (Right, Left). Pre-Printing actions: Installation of the head inside the head holders, data cables (Crossway) and the fine tune screws into the printer. Connect the ink pipes to the main ink tanks. Make sure that you secure the pipes connections with rubber ring that thight the pipes (comes seperatly) Vacuum cleaner installation. Connection of X motor cable. 2

3 Adjust the Carriage height to the bar (3 mm). Adjust the zero position of the carriage according to the vacuum cleaner plate. Adjust the tension of the motor tension according to the kind of media used. Using the syringe/injector for blowing air into the secondary tanks. Cleaning the heads (3 ways : (1) Air trough the pipes (2) Solvent directly to the heads Or (3) Vacuum the heads). Loading new substrate/media. Adjustment of the temperature according to the type of media used. use different Syringe / Injector for air and Solvent Matan JetSet Software: Review all Matan JetSet Software windows one-by-one. Usage of test files for head alignments, calibration and parallelism Review of motors movement, heads cleaning, file importing & file settings. Printing Procedure: Importing files into the Matan JetSet print queue. Queuing & Editing print jobs. Choosing mode, speed, and resolution. Cleaning the heads. Rip Software: Installation of PhotoPrint Rip software. Creating setup parameters. Postscript files from MAC/PC art application (Prepared and saving in the easiest way for the Matan JetSet printer). Selecting setup for 180/360 dpi. 3

4 Pre editing the file before ripping (CMYK/CMY, Tiling, Rotation, ICC profiles etc.). Ripping and moving the files to the Matan JetSet (via network disk). Maintenance: Cleaning the heads - every day, before printing & during printing (Vacuum). Printer shut down procedure - cleaning paper soaked with solvent located between the heads and the protector. Long term maintenance routine (Washing the system with solvent). Cleaning the ink system with solvent once in 4 months. Replace the filter vacuum cleaner - once in 4 months. Replace the ink filters - once in 3 months. Clean the vacuum holes - once in 4 months. PC maintenance: Defrag and Scan disk once a month. Matan JetSet web site visits - monitoring for new software, manual book, substrates, ICC profiles and other updates that may be added to the site from time to time ( once a month. The head nosels will be clogged if they will not be maintained every day. In case the printer will not be used for more then 3 days you should perform the long term routine maintanance specified. Troubleshooting: Print Head change/replacement procedure (Disconnect 35v cable to the heads, close 35v switch). Motor issues: X motor, Y motor, Tension motor. Head issues data, adjustment, quality, voltage difference between heads, blocked heads. Ink issues: cleaning, filters, pumps and tubes, replacing pipes. Importance of maintenance as a way to avoid printer shut-down. Loading & unloading the substrate/media. Vacuum cleaner, heating, media vacuum, fans. 4

5 Matan JetSet software errors, Rip software errors, PC problems. Power-down Procedure: Exit the Matan JetSet software (move heads to the right side to be able to clean and close the heads protector). Shut off the 35V switch button, fans switch, and vacuum switch. PC shut down. Shut off the main power switches from right to left. Close all covers. Work according to the daily maintenance routine Solvent soaked paper between the heads and their protector. Precautions: Summary: Using gloves when dealing with Solvent. Proper ventilation. Using masks. Solvent disposal routine. Qualifying test. FAQ. Open issues. 5
