3 1 Suary The Synco living starter kit is a wireless room temperature control systems for heating plants comprising up to 2 individual zones. A maximum of 6 radiator control actuators can be integrated in the system and the collected heat requests can be forwarded to heat generation. The 2 starter kits are more favourably priced than the sum of the individual product prices. Each of the starter kits contains 1 QAW912 room unit and 1 or 4 SSA955 radiator control actuators. Compared to a conventional room temperature control system, the major benefit of the starter kits is the cost savings they offer: Reduced energy consumption and lower investment and installation costs. Thanks to wireless radio counication, the system is suited for both upgrading projects and new construction. In the case of plant extensions with a Synco living QAX910 central apartment unit, all components of the starter kit can be used with the exception of the QAW912 room unit. 36E126BC April 27, 2009 HVAC Products 3

4 2 Description of products and functions The KIT91.. is a wireless room temperature control system 1 for heating plants comprising: 1 QAW912 room unit 1 or 4 SSA955 radiator control actuators The starter kit can be extended to include a maximum of 6 SSA955 radiator control actuators and controls the room temperature of up to 2 heating zones. The QAW912 room unit is used for operation and displays the heating functions of both zones. The room temperatures are acquired via the QAW912 and the SSA955. Also, the collected heat requests of both zones can be forwarded to heat generation via a relay contact of an RRV912 or an RF adapter plug KRF960. Coissioning is straightforward and only comprises a few steps. The multi-language instructions supplied with the products cover coissioning, installation and operation. Tools are not required. 2.1 Operating functions A separate 7-day time switch with 6 switching points per day is available for each zone, providing changeover between Comfort and Eco setpoints. The QAW912 displays the current 24-hour profile in the form of a graph. The operating mode can also be changed manually via the Mode button of the QAW912 room unit. In that case, it acts on both zones. Using the Timer function, Comfort or Eco mode (saving energy during short periods of absence) can be activated for both zones for up to 96 hours. In the case of longer periods of absence, the number of days the apartment is not used (holiday periods) can be entered jointly for both zones. Protection or Eco can be selected as the holiday operating mode. The heating up and cooling down behaviour of the heating zones is continuously acquired and evaluated by the QAW912 room unit. This means that the switch-on and switch-off points for heating per zone can be shifted forward in a way that the required room temperature will be reached at exactly the time entered. Also supported are the Antilime function, silent mode and the yearly clock for automatic suer- / wintertime changeover. To ensure secure coissioning and reliable operation, the QAW912 room unit contains a list with all connected wireless devices that are monitored. Fault status messages are delivered and any failure scenarios that might become necessary are initiated. 1 RF counication is based on the KNX standard (868 MHz bidirectional) and all devices are powered by coercially available 1.5 V batteries 4 36E126BC April 27, 2009 HVAC Products

5 2.2 Field of use / extension option Thanks to its simplicity and versatility, the room temperature control system is especially suited: For the retrofit market For difficult wall mounting situations (sandstone, glass, etc.) Where room patterns change frequently (changing décor or furniture) For new construction projects When extending a plant with a Synco living QAX910 central apartment unit, all devices contained in the starter kit can be used with the exception of the QAW912 room unit. The SSA955 radiator control actuator has a standard M30x1.5 connecting thread. It is suited for use with most types of radiator valves of other manufacture, which means that a large number of standard thermostatic control actuators can be replaced with no need for fitting an AV adapter. Using the respective AV adapters from the range of valve accessories, the majority of thermostatic actuators not having the M30x1.5 connecting thread can be replaced without having to replace the existing valve. To simplify selection of the required AV adapter in the future, we intend to create a selection tool (for more detailed information, refer to chapter Error!
