4 2 Setting up the machine 2.2 Levelling the machine The machine has to be levelled by adjusting the pedestals. The pedestals can be adjusted in height by means of an open-end wrench (Picture 4.1 ). 5 J Setting up the machine Pneumatic and electric connection Pneumatic connection The pneumatic system of the machine has to be connected by means of a pressure hose with plug which is already mounted to the machine. -Air quantity: -Air pressure in front of the machine: min /min min 8-10 bar the compressed air has to be - cleaned (air card ridge) and - dry (water separator) Electric connection: The electric system of the machine has to be connected by means of an Euro-switch (17 Amp) which can be found at the machine (Picture 5.1 ). - Voltage: V I 50-60Hz - Fuse: 16 A, Slow blowing fuse

6 - 3 Starting the machine 3 Starting the machine Security regulations The surroundings of the machine must be kept free during operation (knife driving mechanism, transport lattice) Attention Do not touch the needles or the knives while the machine is in operation. The knives and needles are sharp! Do not try to push the fish into the machine. It will be transported automatically! 10 4 Adjusting the machine 4. Adjusting the machine 4.1 Adjusting the slice thickness The slice thickness can be adjusted by turning the grip at the beginning of the transport lattice. The lattice stroke is being changed. Adjusting grip Picture 10.1 Adjustment: - Loosen counter nut. - Adjust slice thickness The scale at the grip enables you to make fine adjustments. - Retighten counter nut 4.2 Adjusting the slicing angle The slicing angle is adjusted by lifting and dropping the transport lattice. After loosening the clamp levers at the left and right side of the lattice you can adjust the lattice into the desired position (refer to the scale at the left support of the lattice). 15 Service Programme 6 6. The Service Programme for checking the lattice and knife sledge movement ATTENTION During maintenance and adjustments it may be necessary to control some sequences of operations. This can be done by means of the service programme. Before entering into the service programme always make sure that the sledge is in the upwards position. Check that the machine has been oiled properly (at least after each 7-8 working hours) and that the air pressure is 6 bar. Programme 1: Check the knife sledge and its initiator Switch off main switch then press green Start-button and red Stop-buttonat the same time and keep them pressed while switching on the main switch again. The green light must be on then. When the light is on, release both buttons and check the up and down movements of the sledge by pressing the two buttons separatly. If necessary, adjust the air piston. Programme 2: Up and down movement of the lattice Switch off main switch, press green Start-button and switch on the main switch again while keeping the green button pressed. Wait until the green light is on then release the Start-button. The lattice movements can be checked by pressing the two buttons separatly. Programme 3: Lattice advance movement Switch off main switch, press red Stop-button and keep it pressed while switching on the main switch again. Wait until the green light is on, then release the Startbutton. The lattice movements cari be checked by pressing the two buttons separatly.

16 7 Maintenance and Service 7 Maintenance and Service 7.1 Cleaning of the machine GEBA Soft Slicing Machines are water resistant and can be cleaned with a high pressure hose! ATTENTION Electric parts and pneumatic valves should not be sprayed directly with a high pressure hose. Danger of damages. ATTENTION The control unit should be cleaned without water ATTENTION Only clean machine when main power is switched off Switch off the main switch If necessary, remove off cuts and remains by hand Rinse down with water (max 60 C). Clean with brush and cleaning liquid Cleaning liquid (Ph-value = 2) disinfectant (Ph -Wert = max 8) Rinse again with water, use high pressure water hose if necessary (max 60 C). Dry machine with air gun Perhaps wipe down with leather cloth Depending on quality and quantity of product being cut it may be necessary to give the machine a quick rinse several times a day. Machine should not be left uncleaned for long periods or overnight. Chemicals in the product to be cut can attack materials of the machine and damage it. ATTENTION Never use Scouring liquid! We recommend the cleaning liquid "P3 Topax 12, Henkel" Only use liquids that do not attack materials like delrin, high grade steel, aluminium, paint, rubber and plastic

17 Maintenance and Care Oiling the machine Daily oiling - Evey day the plain bearings at the knife sledge must be oiled -This is done by placing the oil press supplied with the machine onto the oil nipples (Picture 17.1 )and pressing oil into the bearings with several lifting movements until the oil escapes sideways at the stripping rings. - If the frequency of the machine slicing becomes slower, the bearing may be too dry. Add more oil -Oil the sliding groove every day Picture 17.1 (Picture 17.2) - Only use oils suitable for food-stuff for the oil press, e.g. Fina Festan A 350 Picture 17.2

18 7 Maintenance and Service Oil change First oil change -The first oil change at the knife motor (Picture 18.1 )has to be carried out after SO operating hours -Screw out discharge screw -Oil runs out - If necessary, loosen filling screw at the same time Picture Screw in discharge screw again and tighten - Screw out filling screw completely - Pour oil in, observing the viewer at the same time - Pour in enough oil so that the viewer is completely covered with oil (190 ml) - Put back filling screw and tighten Oil change - Proceede exactly as described under "first oil change" - Intervals can be seen in table hereunder First oil change Every further oil change after SO operating hrs.. after SOO operating hrs. If this is the case, correct the adjustment.

21 Maintenance and Service The transport lattice Inserting and removing the transport lattice The transport lattice can be removed for cleaning purposes. Therefore you lift the lattice out of the four lattice supports (Picture 21.2) and move it over the slice thickness adjustment device (Picture 21.3 ). ATTENTION: Danger of injury! Picture 21.1 Inserting the lattice The insertions of the transport lattice is being done in reverse order as the removal. The lattice is inserted from the front over the slice thickness adjustment device (Picture 21.3) into the lattice frame and is then set onto the four lattice supports (Picture 21.1). After inserting the lattice, please check the correct function in service programme no. 2. ATTENTION: Danger of injury! Picture 21.2 Please make sure after inserting the lattice (Picture 19.1) that it is laying onto the lattice supports. A wrong installation could cause damages to the lattice inserts!
