Presentation by: Arne Bonnerup CEO, HydroSystems
Background HydroSystems ApS Founded in Denmark year 2004 started with a product range for optimizing the sewer system from our German partners. Placed in Middelfart 2 hours drive from Sweden Local treatment of Storm Water and CSO. Climate adaption with local storage with the LAR-regulator Storage in the river systems HydroLax regulator Monitoring systems for CSO-outlet Product presentation
Treatment of Storm Water with the HydroSeparator Proces Sandtrap lamellas filter outlet to recipient
The HydroSeparator is established at 7 locations in Copenhagen in the period as a test facility, capacity 20 to 60 l/s for storm water. HydroSystems have been the operator for these 7 plants until 2013 a lot of experience has been gained.
Treatment of Storm Water with the HydroSeparator, Alpedalen, Kolding Treatment of industrial storm water in Kolding in operation April 2014, capacity 200 l/s. Operated by HydroSystems. Documentation in 2015, Insitu-test method developed togeter with DTU and TI. Reported to Naturstyrelsen May 2016.
Treatment of CSO with the HydroSeparator in Kærby, Middelfart Treatment of Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) in combination with a Planted Filter, in operation May 2014, capacity 75 l/s. Operated by HydroSystems, and tested in by DTU Reported to Naturstyrelsen, May 2016.
HydroSeparator CSO Testing values measured during 4 years in Kaerby Middelfart using pilot plant and fullscale HydroSeparator for combined systems Parameter Mg/l HS outlet HS+Cem+Des outlet COD, ppm SS, ppm Total P, ppm 0,1-0,3 0,05-0,15 Bacteria removal % not tested >99 % Heavy metals % % 40-80% HS added chemicals is tested during situations with full scale plant Finished and reported to the Danish Ministry of Environment May 2016.
Benefits of the HydroSeparator Documented effects for both storm water and CSO app % of suspended solids with capacity of 4 to 8 l/s per ha Automatical operating Control and supervision Low operating costs Low installation costs Small footprint no staff needed only if alerts from control system < 2 DKK per m3 incl. chemicals < 2 DKK per m3 incl. depreciation 0,36 m2/ l/s
Automatic flushing sewer systems Consequenses of sediments in the pipes and retention basins? Periodic overloading the treatment plants more than 100 % Sediments reduces the capacity of the sewers more than 30 % The load to the recipients are increased if we have sediments in the sewer Automatic flushing will reduce the operating costs Clean pipes gives a higher hydraulic capacity Climate adaption can be postponed if the sewers are flushed automatically
Benefits of using bioswales with the LAR-regulator Designing each garden as a bioswale and controlling the outlet in LAR-regulators Reduces the total cost more than 70 %! Outlet from the LAR-Regulator unit from 0,05 l/s (0,01 gallon/sek)
HydroLax-Regulator Controlling the flow in the rivers gives possibility to use the meadows for storage the heavy rainfalls Fauna passabel HydroLax-Regulator for riversystems Capacity 0,05 l/s to l/s
Bioswales in housing association Decoupling of rainwater using LAR-regulator for each bioswale Small retention basins integrated in the surrounding areas Overflow from the Bioswales directly to the river downstreams
Decoupling of rainwater for a senior center Transforming all outdoor areas to a new playground for the senior people living at the center and the children in the neighborhood
Monitoring CSO HydroMonitor datalogger, developed for registration of flow out of CSO constructions Established in Fredericia in for 40 CSO constructions
Climate adaption The challenges of climate changes gives a possibilty of changing our minds and looking for new solutions. HydroSystems are combining the best of 40 years experience in Denmark and Germany with new products prepared for handling the climate challenges for the next 50 years. We are looking for new partners in Sweden and Norway.
