12 NoMo Lawn Alternative Exclusively from Hortech Five good reasons to plant NoMo as a ground cover or lawn alternative. 1. Mowing seldom if ever needed. Did you know that mowing for 1 hour pollutes the same as driving 40 cars for one hour 2. Water conserving. Liriope NoMo requires little if any irrigation once established. 3. Beautiful. Like a beautiful deep green traditional lawn 4. Soft yet durable. Feels like grass under foot, and holds up to lots of activity 5. Time saving. Enjoy your leisure time instead of mowing the lawn. 12 EVERETTSLANDSCAPE.COM

34 Nursery SPECIALTY PLANTS Are you looking for a nursery that can meet all your landscape needs? Look no further, EVERETT S NURSERY has an abundant selection of nursery stock available. Our inventory includes perennials, shrubs, ornamentals, and shade and evergreen trees. Following are a few of the many plants we have at Everett s. KOTO NO ITO JAPANESE MAPLE (ACER PALMATUM KOTO NO ITO ) Koto no Ito is a green leaf Japanese maple. The mature height is 12 tall. The foliage resembles harp stings giving it the name Harp String Maple by some. Fall color is beautiful from shades of orange to red. KOSTERI HINOKI CYPRESS (CHAMAECYPARIS OBUTSA KOSTERI ) Kosteri Hinoki Cypress is a great evergreen for small places. The growth rate is slow and only reaches 4-5 tall. Kosteri makes a great accent to the perennial garden or as a focal point near an entrance. 34 EVERETTSLANDSCAPE.COM
35 SPECIALTY PLANTS SCOLOPENDRIFOLIUM JAPANESE MAPLE (ACER PALMATUM SCOLOPENDRIFOLIUM ) Scolopendrifolium is a beautiful upright green leaf Japanese Maple. It has great fall color with unique foliage. Spring color is a pinkish tint with bright red infloresences. Scolopendrifolium makes a medium sized Japanese Maple, taller than it is wide. WEEPING WHITE SPRUCE (PICEA GLAUCA PENDULA ) Weeping White Spruce is a great upright ornamental evergreen tree. It grows straight as an arrow and can reach 25 + in our climate. It is a cultivar of the native White Spruce and is very cold hardy. HEART THROB KOUSA DOGWOOD (CORNUS KOUSA HEART THROB KOUSA) Heart Throb is a cultivar of Kousa Dogwood which is a Chinese Dogwood. The foliage is glossy green with red tips. Flowers are large reaching up to 4 diameter and blooms later in the spring than native dogwoods. Fall color is red and also bears bright red fruit. (616)
36 COLOR IN THE LANDSCAPE By Melissa Reister MCN, Nursery Manager SHARP S PYGMY JAPANESE MAPLE When people talk about color in the landscape they are often referring to flowers, fruit, and foliage of deciduous and evergreen plants. These are key factors in landscape design that provide seasonal interest and are a very important part of a balanced landscape providing color throughout each season. But there is a completely different season within the season I would like to share with you. That season is the time of fall color. People usually think of large shade trees when thinking of fall color, but in my opinion, some of the best fall color is amongst smaller ornamental trees. The bursts of color create another season to look forward to. Colors range from red, yellow, orange and multicolored foliage. This beautiful display of color can last for several weeks. By incorporating ornamentals that have vibrant fall color your landscape transforms into something new and exciting. There are a number of ornamentals that can renew and enhance the landscape after a long hot summer. Everett s Landscape specializes in growing these beautiful ornamentals at our nursery. Please consider a nursery tour at Everett s and experience how to incorporate these outstanding trees and plants into your landscape. FALL COLOR VIEW FROM THE OFFICE SUMMER 36 EVERETTSLANDSCAPE.COM
