The Workshop will be divided into four sessions, each with a number of specific focus areas that set out the aspects of management, design, operations and maintenance needed to ensure the integrity of the operations throughout the operating life The workshops will be divided as follows: Leadership sets out how to define and communicate the level of performance Risk Identification, assessment and management sets out how risks should be identified and assessed, identify the necessary control measures, how to record and maintain the process safety knowledge developed from risk identification and assessment activities. Operations, maintenance and management sets out the operational readiness and on-going activities to ensure that the risks are controlled, managed and reported. 11 Operations and Maintenance Operational Readiness and Startup The commissioning and start-up of new, modified or existing plant and eguipment is a high risk operation. Management must ensure that there is a systematic process to verify that plant and equipment s in safe condition, and that personnel are appropriately prepared, before start-up or return to normal operation. Emergency preparedness The consequences of an incident can be significantly reduced if the organization is appropriately prepared to handle potential emergency situations. Management must ensure that, in the event of an incident, the organization is appropriately prepared for all necessary actions which may be required for the protection of the public, the organization's and contractors personnel. 14 Education Day This instructor led course is designed to educate everyone (from engineers, managers, and executives) involved with safety related systems about their responsibilities within the Safety Lifecycle. The course addresses the knowledge and competency requirements defined in IEC Clause : All persons involved in any Safety Lifecycle activity, including management activities shall have the appropriate training, technical knowledge, experience and qualifications relevant to the specific duties they have to perform. Our instructor is a certified functional safety expert and will walk you through the requirements of IEC standards.
