2 Overview The wheels of the trains represent a risk factor for the security of the railway operations. Therefore, it is very important to monitor the wheel status in terms of temperature and defects. It is also important to detect if there are dragging elements beneath the train. For that we can use several side-track detectors 2

4 General Requirements RAMS: High Reliability above 99% High Availability above 99% MTBF above 15,000 hours Option for self-test and calibration Automatic restart in case of computer s failure. After power supply is restored the system should start automatically Malfunction alarm (error message) in case of: power failure, interruption of communication, low battery etc. The system should be protected from lightning strike, voltage fluctuations and power outages. The system must return to function correctly after completion of the event. In case of a power failure the last valid settings should apply automatically after recovering of power supply Very precise measurements on trains speed range as follows: km/h (main lines) 5-30 km/h (maintenance areas) 4

8 Indoor Equipment (1) A Temporary structure made of concrete, 20 centimeters thick, with no windows and one door type safe according Israel Railways specification M-2501 It should be logged to the hacking system which is already installed in the area and will include two volume detectors, magnetic detector, keyboard and horn 8

9 Indoor Equipment (2) In addition a Fire Extinguishing System should be installed on the basis of FM200 gas with two detectorsin accordance with Israel Railways. Backup protection of min. 10 hours should be provided The structure should have heat isolation and equipped with air conditioner suitable for communication rooms The structure should be equipped with two webcams cameras & DVRwith a recording capacity of a minimum one week 9

10 Indoor Equipment (3) A fire extinguishing system should be installed. A fire alarm should be connected directly to CCR's displays & Security department. The structure should include outdoor lightingto illuminate the entire structure and additional lighting to illuminate the sensors in the track 10

11 Structure Requirements (1) It's the supplier responsibilityto define the Electrical Cabinet Room as follows: External & Internal dimensions Heat Isolation Air Conditioner and ventilation Electrical Power requirements Electrical Sockets; quantity & locations Electrical Cabinets; locations & dimensions Cables & installation schema Indoor Temperature Sensor Overheat & Fire Extinguishing System Indoor Camera including DVR Lights 11

12 Structure Requirements (2) Israel Railways will provide the electrical connections at the monitoring stations as defined by Supplier subject to the approval of ISRin writing and in advance. Israel Railways will connect the Temporary Structure to the electrical net. All electrical connections (Electrical Sockets) in the structure are the responsibility of the Supplier. 12

13 Structure Requirements (3) Israel Railways will provide all the necessary connections Ethernet train. The network connection will be the responsibility of the system provider and will be done by Israel Railways. Israel Railways is responsible for preparing the area for the Temporary Structure as defined by Supplier subject to the approval of ISR. 13

14 Data Transmission Technique The basic communication used is TCP/IP. The connections are usually made as peer-to-peer connection where the central provides the right amount of sockets. 14

15 Network Topology The general topology usually is a star. The individual measurement places should be connect directly to the central equipment (peer-topeer). Each site may consist of more than one measurement system that may share the physical line (a local router is used to connect all systems to this line). 15

16 Centralized Equipment (1) The Central Monitoring Solution comprises of central server/s. All data is received and stored in a data base. The operators have access to this data and receive unsolicited information at their stations (e.g. failure information of technical equipment and alarm messages concerning the rolling stock). 19 Connection to MMS Server The ISR uses Maintenance Management System (MMS) monitors train conditions in real-time and reports on alerts and failures. The supplier is required to integrate with the MMS 19
