Each RSP contains one or more neutron Smart detectors made of a unique neutron-sensitive scintillating glass fiber (PUMA panels) or traditional He-3 pressurized gas tubes and one or more gamma ray Smart detectors made of polyvinyl toluene (PVT) plastic scintillator or sodium iodide NaI(Tl) detectors. 7 Chemical, Biological & Radiation Monitoring 4 Border Monitoring 1 Chem ID: Detect, Identify, and Analyze Chemicals The chem-id is a parts-per-billion gas analyzer that characterizes chemicals using two-dimensional gas chromatography. The chemical signatures of gases and out-gassing liquids and solids are measured and recorded in the filed. Each chemical signature contains information on the individual compounds and concentrations of the chemicals present in the sample. Because the chem-id is rugged, it can be used in most locations and under most harsh conditions. The chem-id operates using 4 large control buttons, a large color LCD display, and menu-driven software. It can also be operated by remote control via the built-in Bluetooth wireless radio. The chem-id automatically performs the functions needed to precisely measure a chemical sample, produce and record the two-dimensional chromatograph signature of the sample, and clean itself in preparation for the next visit. The analog meter comes in a variety of measurement ranges and units to support the external radiation detector selected. A one meter (39 in.) straight type detector cable with C style connector is included in the price of the instrument. A very sensitive 15.2 cm diameter x 2.5 cm thick (6 x 1 in.) plastic scintillator detector is mounted at the end of a 1.2 meter (4 ft) long pole to facilitate reaching elevated areas.
