2 Resolutions of the 41st plenary meeting of ISO/TC 211 Sydney, Australia, /11 Resolution 720 Renomination of the ISO/TC 211 chair ISO/TC 211 resolves to recommend that the ISO Technical Management Board accepts the renomination of Mr. Olaf Østensen as chair of ISO/TC 211 for one year. Acclamation Resolution 721 Liaison with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the request for a category A liaison from the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the secretariat for the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UNCE-GGIM) (N 4177), and instructs the secretariat to inform the ISO Central Secretariat of its approval. ISO/TC 211 welcomes the nomination of Ms. Cecille Blake as the liaison representative from UNSD. ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the nomination of the Chair, Mr. Olaf Østensen, and from the NMB of USA of Ms. Jeanne Foust as liaison representatives to the UNSD. Resolution 722 Contribution to the UN-GGIM knowledge base ISO/TC 211 expresses its continuous support to UN-GGIM. ISO/TC 211 offers to contribute the multilingual glossary of terms to the UN-GGIM knowledge base. ISO/TC 211 offers to discuss with the UN-GGIM secretariat how other resources from ISO/TC 211, like ontologies, XML schemas, etc. can be contributed. Resolution 723 Ad hoc group to participate in a joint study group on sustainable development goals and targets (SDG) of the UN ISO/TC 211 resolves to establish an ad hoc group to participate in the joint study group formed by IHO, ISO/TC 211 and OGC on the sustainable development goals and targets. ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to send out a call for participation. Resolution 724 Terminology repository implementation ISO/TC 211 recognizes the need for the implementation of the terminology repository into contemporary technology. ISO/TC 211 invites national member bodies to offer a sustainable solution. 2
3 Resolution 725 ISO Concept Database Noting the success of the ISO concept database, ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to contact the ISO Central Secretariat to discuss (with the TMG convenor) the potential for using the concept database as a distribution and maintenance platform for the multilingual glossary of terms and for the expansion of the concept database along the lines of the multilingual glossary of terms. The proposed amendment will be taken into consideration at the next revision of ISO Resolution 728 Registration of ISO/CD , Geographic information Place Identifier (PI) architecture Part 2: Place Identifier (PI) linking, as DIS ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to forward the ISO/CD (document N 4133) to the ISO Central Secretariat for DIS ballot. Resolution 732 Publication of ISO/TS Geographic information Metadata XML schema implementation of metadata fundamentals ISO/TC 211 endorses the decision of WG 7 and the secretariat to advance the publication without a final review. 6 Resolution 741 Systematic review of ISO/TS :2012, Geographic information Procedures for item registration Part 2: XML schema implementation Noting the results of the systematic review of ISO/TS :2012 (N 4105), ISO/TC 211 resolves to confirm this technical specification. ISO/TC 211 recognizes the need for a new XML schema for the encoding of ISO Noting Resolution 684, Derived resources from UML models, ISO/TC 211 invites a new work item proposal to append an annex to ISO , referencing the XML repository of the ISO XML schema implementation. ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the offer from the NMB of Germany to propose the NWIP for the amendment of ISO , with the proposed project leader Mr. Stefan Strobel. This amendment shall replace ISO/TS :2012. Resolution 742 Recommendations on vote on systematic reviews ISO/TC 211 recognizes that the upcoming systematic reviews have a number of standards where the members are requesting guidance on how to vote. Resolution 744 Backward compatibilities in revised standards ISO/TC 211 strongly recommends that revisions of standards and technical specifications include an informative annex which describes how backward compatibility is addressed. This annex may include crosswalks, mappings or similar mechanisms, which evidence the degree of compatibility. Resolution 745 Ad hoc group on Location based services ISO/TC 211 resolves to establish an ad hoc group to review the location based services related standards, and provide guidance and a road map for the maintenance of these standards. ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the offer from the NMB of Korea of Professor SangKi Hong to convene the group. ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to send out a call for participation. Resolution 746 Ad hoc group to revise the business plan ISO/TC 211 expresses its appreciation to the Ad hoc group to revise the business plan for their work. ISO/TC 211 resolves to disband the group. 7

9 Resolution 749 Requirements concerning subsequent meetings ISO/TC 211 adopts the following meeting schedule: 42nd plenary /17 Norway (venue to be decided Tromsø?) 43rd plenary /12-02 Facilities for WG meetings, editing committees, project teams and other meetings will be provided prior to the plenary, as required. ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to send out a call for host for the 43rd plenary meeting and other subsequent meetings. Abstention: Saudi Arabia Approved Appreciations ISO/TC 211 expresses its appreciation to Standards Australia (SA) for hosting the meeting, their preparation of the meeting and provision of excellent meeting facilities, and to the SA staff, Mr. Jonathan Avery, Mr. Brian Lester, Ms. Jessica Marks, Ms. Ariella Michel and Ms. Giulia Savoca for their work in the preparation and for their kind support during the meeting. ISO/TC 211 also particularly expresses its appreciation to Mr. Chris Body, for his work in the preparation of the meetings.
