2 Resolutions of the 34th plenary meeting of ISO/TC 211 Toulouse, /08 Resolution 580 Registration of new projects ISO/TC 211 confirms that the following projects have been approved by the ISO/TC 211 members and shall be added to the programme of work: New project (Stage 30.99): NP , Geographic information Geography Markup Language (GML) Part 2: Extended schemas and encoding rules Submitted by: Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) Project Leader: Mr. Clemens Portele Approval date: Target date for IS: The project is assigned to WG 4. New project (Stage 20.20): NP , Geographic information Metadata Part 3: XML schema implementation of metadata fundamentals Submitted by: Energistics Project Leader: Dr. Ted Habermann Approval date: Target date for TS: The project is assigned to WG 7. 3 Resolution 582 Registration of ISO/DTS , Geographic information Metadata - XML Schema Implementation - Part 2: Extensions for imagery and gridded data as TS ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to forward ISO/DTS (N 3205) to the ISO Central Secretariat for publication. Resolution 583 Registration of ISO/DTS , Geographic information Imagery sensor models for geopositioning - Part 2: SAR/InSAR, Lidar and Sonar as TS ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat, in cooperation with the editor and chair of the Editing Committee, to consider the comments received (document N 3348), amend ISO/DTS (N 3211) as necessary, and forward the revised document to the ISO Central Secretariat for publication. Resolution 584 Systematic review of ISO 6709:2008, Standard representation of geographic point location by coordinates Noting the result of the systematic review (document N 3269), ISO/TC 211 resolves to confirm ISO 6709:2008. Resolution 585 Systematic review of ISO/TS 19104:2008, Geographic information Terminology Noting the result of the systematic review (document N 3301), ISO/TC 211 resolves to revise ISO/TS 19104:2008. ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the offer of the NB of Australia to submit an NWIP to revise the Technical Specification, with Mr. Andrew Jones as project leader. Resolution 586 Revision of ISO/TS 19139:2007, Geographic information Metadata XML schema implementation Noting the implication of ISO NP on ISO/TS 19139:2007, ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the offer of the NB of France to submit an NWIP to revise ISO/TS 19139:2007, with Mr. Nicolas Lesage as project leader. 3

4 Resolution 587 Extension of target dates for project 19119, Geographic information Services ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to apply to the ISO Central Secretariat for an extension for project to the extended time frame of 48 months, with the following target dates: CD DIS FDIS IS Resolution 588 Ad hoc group on linked data Referring to resolution 569, ISO/TC 211 accepts the recommendations of the report from the ad hoc group (document N 3308), and confirms that the group is disbanded. Resolution 589 Establishment of an ontology maintenance group ISO/TC 211 resolves to establish an ontology maintenance group to ensure that the ontologies used in ISO/TC 211 projects are maintained and made accessible. ISO/TC 211 instructs the group to draft terms of reference for presentation at the 35th plenary, and address the recommendations in document N ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the offer from the NB of Canada for Dr. Jean Brodeur as convenor of the group. ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to distribute a call for membership of the group before the end of June Resolution 590 Ad hoc group on GIS-BIM (Building Information Modeling) ISO/TC 211 resolves to establish an ad hoc group to investigate interoperability issues concerning the respective standards of ISO/TC 211, ISO/TC 59/SC 13, Organization of information about construction works, the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. and other relevant groups. ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the offer from the NB of the Republic of Korea for Professor SangKi Hong as chair of the group. ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to distribute a call for membership of the group and to invite the relevant groups to participate in this ad hoc group, before the end of June The ad hoc group shall report on their progress at the 35th plenary. 4

5 Resolution 591 Cultural and linguistic adaptability Recognizing the importance of cultural and linguistic adaptability in the ISO/TC 211 suite of standards, considering previous resolutions, ISO/TC 211 requests that the PMG initiates a study on the subject, proposes possible solutions and recommendations to the TC, and reports on their progress at the 35th plenary. Resolution 592 Corrigendum for ISO :2009 ISO/TC 211 instructs the secretariat to forward the corrigendum (document N 3320) for ISO :2009 to the ISO Central Secretariat for publication. Resolution 593 Liaison representatives ISO/TC 211 accepts and appreciates the following nominations of liaison representatives: Mr. Kazushige Kawase, Japan to ISCGM Dr. Serena Coetzee, South Africa to UPU Mr. Antony Cooper, South Africa to UPU Resolution 594 ISO/TC ISO/TC 211 task force ISO/TC 211 expresses its appreciation to Dr. Jinsoo You for his service and dedication as convenor of the ISO/TC ISO/TC 211 task force since ISO/TC 211 appreciates and accepts the nomination from the NB of the Republic of Korea of Dr. Soohong Park as a new convenor of the task force. Resolution 595 ISO/TC 211 fact sheets ISO/TC 211 encourages the WG convenors to provide updated fact sheets and input for the Standards Guide, covering all existing and new standards within their WG. In the case of new standards, this should be provided when the draft is submitted for DIS ballot. ISO/TC 211 invites members to review all fact sheets and submit any updates to the advisory group on outreach chair and the secretariat. Resolution 596 Template for table of requirements classes and requirements ISO/TC 211 invites the PMG in cooperation with the project leaders for projects , , and to cooperate on drafting a template for requirements classes and requirements in ISO/TC 211 deliverables. ISO/TC 211 requests that the project leaders report on the progress at the 35th plenary. 5

7 Appreciations ISO/TC 211 expresses its appreciation to M. Alain Costes for the invitation to have the 34th plenary and associated meetings in Toulouse. ISO/TC 211 expresses its appreciation to AFNOR for the provision of excellent meeting facilities at the Hotel Mercure Toulouse Atria Comans Caffarelli, and for refreshments and lunches. ISO/TC 211 expresses its appreciation to Mme Ghislaine-Inès Magnan and Mme Marie-Lise Henneré from AFNOR, for their preparation of the meetings and their kind and helpful support during the meetings. ISO/TC 211 also expresses its appreciation to Mme Marie-Lise Vautier and M. Nicolas Lesage from IGN for their support in the preparation of and during the meetings. ISO/TC 211 further expresses its appreciation to the sponsors for their support to make the arrangement possible: AFNOR, ESRI, Institut National de l'information Géographique et Forestière (IGN), Intergraph, Ministère de la Défense et des Anciens Combattants, Service Hydrographique et Océanographique de la Marine (SHOM) and Sparx Systems. ISO/TC 211 expresses their appreciation to the Institut ENSICA for sponsoring the workshop on Wednesday, and to the presenters at the workshop. ISO/TC 211 expresses its appreciation to the Mairie de Toulouse for the invitation to the opening reception in the beautiful salle Gervais, at Place du Capitole on Tuesday evening, and to Mme Py, Conseillère Générale, and M. Stéphane Moulière, manager of the Department of Transport, Energy and Communication, for their warm welcome addresses to the delegates.
