Hydropod Propagator - 20 Cuttings Assembly and Maintenance Instructions
Welcome Welcome to Greenhouse Sensation and thank you for ordering your Hydropod. The Hydropod Propagator gives you fast results The mist provides the plants with constant access to water and nutrients. No Guessing Roots are visible so root growth can be checked without disturbing the plants. Healthier Plants No soil means no soil-borne pests and diseases. This means that the roots grow faster and stronger because they have access to everything they need.it also reduces root rot or drying out Greater Control Large vents give greater control over temperature and humidity. Less Fuss Top the reservoir up with water and add nutrient when cuttings start to root - instead of having to water dozens of separate pots each day. If you want to share your results with us and fellow Greenhouse Sensation growers visit our website and Facebook page to post your photos, comments or questions. We love to hear how your plants are getting on in a Greenhouse Sensation Propagator. Visit us at for reviews, tips and news.
Summary of Nutrient Programme Remember the following simple steps to successful propagation. Step 1 Place cuttings in the Hydropod Propagator, at this point only water is in the reservoir - until cuttings show signs of growth. Step 2 When roots appear and when the top of the plants have shown obvious signs of growth, top the water up to the level of the spray bar in the reservoir - add 3ml of A nutrient and 3ml of B nutrient for every 1litre of water in the reservoir. This reservoir holds 7 litres. If you are filling the reservoir to the spray bar with water, you need to add 21ml of nutrient A, followed by 21ml Nutrient B. Step 3 Transplant the cuttings when you have healthy root, as outlined in the image on the previous page. The above feeding programme is based on Greenhouse Sensation nutrients.
When are my Plants Ready? For successful transplanting you need healthy young plants with abundant white roots visible. This picture shows what your plants will look like when they are ready to be transplanted. Guidance and Tips for successful use of the Hydropod Light Cuttings should not be placed in direct sunlight, although you can use the hydropod in conjunction with propagation lights if growing indoors. Heat A consistent temperature is required. The optimum temperature required by cuttings is o C. You need to place your Hydropod Propagator somewhere which maintains this temperature, or you can place the optional heater in the reservoir.
Component List for Hydropod Propagator 1 x Reservoir 1 x Support Tray 1 x Propagator Lid 1 x Submersible Pump (including Stand) 1 x Spray Assembly 1 x Nutrient Pack 1 x Optional Heater 1 x Instruction Manual 20 x Sponge Discs
Assembly Instructions for Hydropod Propagator For best results use tap water. If you are in a very hard water area, you can use part rainwater. 1. Place the reservoir on a level surface and position the pump so the outlet is in the middle of the reservoir. Push the bottom of the stand onto the pump and attach the three suction pads. Push the sponge filter onto the end of the pump. The lead should sit in the groove on the edge of the reservoir. 2. Insert the adaptor on the spray assembly onto the pump outlet. This is a tight fit to improve stability when operational. Push the optional heater to the bottom of the reservoir using the suckers provided. Use the additional instructions for operating the heater. 3. Fill the reservoir with water to the level of the spray bars. Ensure the spray bars are level. Briefly test by plugging the pump in. Either use luke warm water or cold water from the tap which has been left to reach room temperature. 4. Place the support tray in position. Electrical Safety First 1. Ensure that your electricity supply incorporates an RCCB protection devise, or alternatively use a socket mounted RCCB power breaker unit. 2. Ensure pump and heater if employed, are connected in accordance with manufacturers instructions. 3. Always switch off electricity supply before making contact with nutrient solution in reservoir.
Propagation Instructions for Cuttings 1. If using gel type rooting hormone, dip the cutting first. Slide the cutting into the sponge disc using the slit to avoid damaging the cutting. At least 2cm of the stem should show below the sponge. 2. Place the sponge disc on top of the lip of the support tray. 3. Put the propagator lid in place. Switch on the sprinkler and run continuously. When roots are visible top up the tank (if necessary) with water and add nutrients (3ml of A nutrient followed by 3ml of B nutrient for every 1 litre of water in the tank). The nutrient dilution rate is based on Greenhouse Sensation nutrients. Should you wish to use any other brand of hydro nutrient you may need to seek advice from the supplier or retailer.
