For a millennium, Danes had been known for combining practical design with uncommon craftsmanship. From their ships, all the way to their home furnishings. In 1966, those Danish values collided in the most unlikely of places, a tiny henhouse in the Danish fishing village of Glyngøre. That was where cabinetmaker Preben Jacobsen built his first speaker. As a talented craftsman with a passion for great sound, Preben began designing and producing loudspeaker cabinets, and equipped them with the best acoustics technologies available. Two years after building his first speaker, he teamed with his brother-in-law, Julius Mortensen, to found JAMO. Their first factory opened in 1970 and by 1994, that dedication to crafting ingeniously practical sound solutions would transform JAMO into the largest manufacturer of loudspeakers in Europe. Over the last 40 years, JAMO has followed the centuries-old Danish belief of fusing innovation and functionality with beautiful design. We look forward to continuing that tradition for many years more.
