3 HUNGEXPO GOING ON A year ago, when we celebrated the 50th birthday of Hungexpo Ltd., my colleagues and I knew two things: we can build upon our past, but the future of the company can only be secured if it is capable of constant change. This is how we maintain the trust of exhibitors and visitors alike. Numbers and facts, as they say, are stubborn things. In 2018 our pavilions operated at 87% occupancy, which is an outstanding achievement in the company s history, and the revenue of Hungexpo Ltd. grew by more than 10%. But last year s achievement certainly won t be enough for next year. And we are talking primarily about the company s market presence and our partners satisfaction. For this reason we are especially proud that in 2018, in addition to our traditional events, Hungexpo s portfolio has expanded with three new exhibitions. HUNGAROMED Healthcare and Medical Technology Exhibition and Conference, HOMEDesign Autumn Homemaking Exhibition and Fair, and Beauty & Style International Beauty Industry Exhibition all lived up to our expectations, therefore visitors will be able to experience these events again this year. For years we have been working with our parent company, GL-events, towards hosting more international professional conferences and sporting events in addition to top quality exhibitions. After the huge international success of last year s Euroskills (nearly 100,000 people took part in the European Championship of professions) in 2019 we are hosting world class events such as ERA- EDTA, the annual congress of the world s most prominent professional association of kidney medicine, or the WTTC 2019, the singles World Table Tennis Championships, an event expected to draw more than 10,000 competitors from all around the world. This year is also extremely important for Hungexpo because after considerable work on the new design, the expansion of the Budapest Fair Center is beginning. The construction, and its temporary discomfort, all show the trust we put in our future. We, here at Hungexpo, are sure that in two years time we will be the owners of a world class facility, capable of fully satisfying the needs of the exhibitors and the visitors alike.
