4 Foreword Green and smart technology as well as sensors and their applications are areas that attract many academic and industry professionals. The goal of the first international Mega-Conference on Green and Smart Technology (GST 2012) and the International Conference on Sensor and its Applications (SIA 2012) is to bring together researchers from academia and industry as well as practitioners to share ideas, problems, and solutions relating to the multifaceted aspects of this field. We would like to express our gratitude to all of the authors of submitted papers and to all attendees, for their contributions and participation. We acknowledge the great effort of all the Chairs and the members of the Advisory Boards and Program Committees of the above-listed events. 5 Preface We would like to welcome you to the proceedings of the First International Mega- Conference on Green and Smart Technology (GST 2012) and the International Conference on Sensor and Its Applications (SIA 2012), which were held during November 28 December 2, 2012, at Jeju Grand Hotel, Jeju, Korea. GST 2012 and SIA 2012 are focused on various aspects of advances in green and smart technology and sensors and their applications. They provided a chance for academic and industry professionals to discuss recent progress in the related areas. We expect that the conferences and their publications will be a trigger for further related research and technology improvements in this important subject.
