STAGE 3 ARCHAEOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT LIMEBEER PIT, TOWN OF CALEDON, ONTARIO Executive Summary An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 and 2) was previously conducted (Golder Associates Ltd. 2009) on behalf of Lafarge Canada Inc. for an approximately 39 hectare study area located on part of Lots 14 and 15, Concession 2 W.H.S., Town of Caledon, Regional Municipality of Peel, Ontario. This assessment was undertaken as part of the aggregate pit licensing process, as outlined in Sections and of the Provincial Standards under the Aggregate Resources Act. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of an archaeological site Location 2 (AlHa-39), a small pre-contact Aboriginal lithic scatter requiring further Stage 3 archaeological assessment. The Stage 3 archaeological assessment was undertaken by Golder Associates Ltd. (Golder) as part of the aggregate pit licensing process, as outlined in Section of the Provincial Standards under the Aggregate Resources Act. The Stage 3 assessment of Location 2 (AlHa-39) resulted in the recovery of eight pre-contact Aboriginal lithic artifacts of low cultural heritage value or interest and no further archaeological work is recommended. The Ontario Ministry of Culture is asked to accept this report into the Provincial Register of archaeological reports, as well as issue a letter of concurrence with the findings to the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Regional Municipality of Peel to inform them that the provincial concerns for heritage for this property have been met. 5 STAGE 3 ARCHAEOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT LIMEBEER PIT, TOWN OF CALEDON, ONTARIO 1.0 INTRODUCTION An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 and 2) was previously conducted (Golder Associates Ltd. 2009) on behalf of Lafarge Canada Inc. for an approximately 39 hectare study area located on part of Lots 14 and 15, Concession 2 West of Hurontario Street, Town of Caledon, Regional Municipality of Peel, Ontario (Figure 1). This assessment was undertaken as part of the aggregate pit licensing process, as outlined in Sections and of the Provincial Standards under the Aggregate Resources Act. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of two pre-contact Aboriginal archaeological locations (Location 1 and Location 2). Location 1 (AlHa-38) was one isolated scraper manufactured from Onondaga chert and Location 2 (AlHa-39) was a 14 metre by 10 metre scatter of Onondaga chert chipping detritus. Due to the low cultural value of the one isolated scraper, no further archaeological assessment was recommended for Location 1 (AlHa-38), but due to the fact that Location 2 (AlHa-39) represents a relatively dense and spatially discrete cluster of precontact Aboriginal material, further Stage 3 archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 archaeological assessment was undertaken by Golder on behalf of Lafarge Canada Inc. as part of the aggregate pit licensing process, as outlined in Section of the Provincial Standards under the Aggregate Resources Act. The Stage 3 field assessment was conducted October 29th, 2009 under archaeological consulting licence P001, issued to, by the Ontario Ministry of Culture. 7 STAGE 3 ARCHAEOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT LIMEBEER PIT, TOWN OF CALEDON, ONTARIO 2.0 STUDY METHODS 2.1 Stage 3 Assessment of Significance and Information Potential The Stage 3 assessment involved the controlled collection and mapping of the surface artifact distribution as well as the hand excavation of a series of one-metre units strategically located to test the nature and density of the artifact distribution at the site (Plate 1). Datum stakes from the Stage 2 assessment were relocated and a permanent datum was placed on the site, oriented on magnetic north. The five metre units in the grid are referred to by the intersection coordinates of their southwest corner. Each five metre square was divided into 25 one-metre units, with sub-square number one located in the southwest corner of the five metre unit, number five in the southeast corner, number six located immediately north of number one, and so on (Figure 2). Figure 2: Excavation Unit Identification Key Each one-metre test unit was excavated to subsoil, with all soil screened through six millimetre hardware cloth to facilitate the recovery of small artifacts. The subsoil surface of each unit was shovel shined and examined for any evidence of subsoil cultural features prior to backfilling. All excavated artifacts were retained for laboratory analysis and description. The weather during the assessment was sunny and mild and at no time were there conditions detrimental to the recovery of archaeological remains. Permission to enter the property and remove artifacts was provided by Sergio Carbone, Lafarge Canada Inc. All recovered artifacts will be temporarily housed at Golder s London office until formal arrangements can be made for their transfer to the Ministry of Culture collections facility at 900 Highbury Ave. London, Ontario. 9 STAGE 3 ARCHAEOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT LIMEBEER PIT, TOWN OF CALEDON, ONTARIO 3.0 RESULTS 3.1 Location 2 (AlHa-39) The Stage 2 archaeological assessment found that Location 2 (AlHa-39) consists of a 14 metre by 10 metre surface scatter of eight pieces of pre-contact Aboriginal chipping detritus manufactured from Onondaga chert. Due to the fact that Location 2 (AlHa-39) represents a relatively dense and spatially discrete cluster of precontact Aboriginal material, further Stage 3 archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 controlled surface collection yielded no further artifacts. However, the site was relocated using the GPS coordinates recorded for the site during the prior Stage 2 archaeological assessment. The Stage 3 excavations included the hand excavation of 13 one-metre test units with depths ranging from 12 centimetres to 31 centimetres and artifact yields ranging from zero to two artifacts. The Stage 3 excavation of Location 2 (AlHa-39) was conducted using the methods outlined in Section 2.1 of this report. Figure 3 shows the location of the archaeological site subject to Stage 3 excavation and Figure 4 shows the position of the test units excavated during the Stage 3 assessment. All artifacts are described in detail below and when artifacts are illustrated they are shown at actual size. A total of eight lithic artifacts were recovered, all manufactured from Onondaga chert. Onondaga chert is a high quality raw material that outcrops along the north shore of Lake Erie east of the embouchure of the Grand River. This material can also be recovered from secondary, glacial deposits across much of southwestern Ontario, east of Chatham. One of the eight artifacts recovered (and catalogued in Table 1 below), was a side scraper, two were utilized flakes, and five were pieces of chipping detritus. 12 STAGE 3 ARCHAEOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT LIMEBEER PIT, TOWN OF CALEDON, ONTARIO The one side scraper (Plate 2:1) measures 43.4 millimetres long, 32.5 millimetres wide, and 9.8 millimetres thick. It is manufactured from a large secondary flake, unifacially worked and battered along one lateral edge. The two utilized flakes (Plate 2:2) exhibit expedient retouch along one edge; both are manufactured on broken flakes that cannot be categorized. The five pieces of chipping debitage (Plate 2:3) include one retouch flake and four broken flakes that cannot be categorized. It is not surprising that six of the recovered flakes from the Stage 3 assemblage are broken flakes given that the site is located in a well ploughed agricultural field (Golder 2009). Plate 2: Location 2 (AlHa-39) Stage 3 Excavation Artifact Sample (actual size) No temporally diagnostic artifacts were recovered during the Stage 3 test excavation. Since the Stage 2 assessment had also not recovered any temporally diagnostic artifacts, the site can merely be assigned a precontact Aboriginal cultural affiliation. It is surmised that the site represents one short episode of lithic tool reworking and discard, especially given that only a total of eight lithic artifacts were recovered during the Stage 3 test excavation to add to the eight pieces of chipping detritus already recovered during the Stage 2 pedestrian survey. 13 STAGE 3 ARCHAEOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT LIMEBEER PIT, TOWN OF CALEDON, ONTARIO 4.0 RECOMMENDATIONS AND ADVICE ON COMPLIANCE WITH LEGISLATION The Stage 3 excavations of Location 2 (AlHa-39) resulted in the recovery of eight pre-contact Aboriginal, nondiagnostic lithic artifacts, all manufactured from Onondaga chert. Given the low cultural heritage value or interest of the artifacts recovered and the low yield of artifacts per test unit, the site is considered to be sufficiently documented and no further archaeological work is recommended. The Stage 3 archaeological assessment was conducted as part of the aggregate pit licensing process, as outlined in Section of the Provincial Standards under the Aggregate Resources Act. This report is submitted to the Minister of Culture as a condition of licensing in accordance with Part VI of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c The report is reviewed to ensure that the licensed consultant archaeologist has met the terms and conditions of their archaeological licence, and that the archaeological fieldwork and report recommendations ensure the conservation, protection and preservation of the cultural heritage of Ontario. Should previously undocumented archaeological resources be discovered, they may be a new archaeological site and therefore subject to Section 48(1) of the Ontario Heritage Act. The proponent or person discovering the archaeological resources must cease alteration of the site immediately and engage a licensed consultant archaeologist to carry out archaeological fieldwork, in compliance with sec. 48(1) of the Ontario Heritage Act. The Cemeteries Act requires that any person discovering human remains must notify the police or coroner and the Registrar of Cemeteries, Ministry of Consumer Services. GOLDER ASSOCIATES LTD. This project is currently ongoing. 2009, Walker Pit, Bayham Township Elgin County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 1 and 2 assessment was conducted for an approximate 14 acre property located in Elgin County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological material and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2009, Strickland Richmond Pit, Bayham Township Elgin County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. This Stage 1 and 2 assessment was conducted for an approximate 35 acre property located in Elgin County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of one piece of pre-contact Aboriginal chipping detritus. Due to the low significance and information potential of this location no further archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological material and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2009, Clarington Aggregate Depot and Asphalt Plant Municipality of Durham, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of three 19 th century Euro-Canadian locations. The Stage 2 investigation these locations resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of mid-19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material and additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended. The results of the Stage 3 assessment are currently being report on and further Stage 4 archaeological assessment is recommended. 2009, Nash Pit, Zorra Township Oxford County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of two Euro-Canadian historic sites. Due to the possible information potential and cultural heritage value of the two Euro-Canadian locations it, was recommended that they be subject to additional Stage 3 archaeological assessment in advance of any extraction activities. The Stage 3 assessment determined that 2 locations consisted of a concentration of early 19 th century Euro-Canadian historic material and further Stage 4 mitigation was recommended. The client has chosen avoid impacts to both locations by protecting them with permanent fencing as well as a note on the Site Plan , Limebeer Pit, Town of Caledon Municipality of Peel, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archarological Assessment on an approximate 39 hectare development property located in the Town of Caledon, Regional Municipality of Peel, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of two pre-contact Aboriginal archaeological locations. Due to the low cultural value of one isolated scraper, no further archaeological assessment is recommended for the first location. However, the second location represents a relatively dense and spatially discrete cluster of pre-contact Aboriginal material, therefore, further Stage 3 archaeological assessment was recommended. Publications - Page 1 of 18

, Highland Melancthon Quarry Dufferin County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of 22 locations, including four pre-contact Aboriginal find spots and 18 historic Euro-Canadian domestic occupations. Two pre-contact Aboriginal findspots were judged to require precautionary Stage 3 assessment and eight historic Euro-Canadian locations were judged to have significant information potential and to require Stage 3 assessment. The Stage 3 excavations were conducted and the heritage concerns for the two pre-contact Aboriginal findspots and four of the historic Euro-Canadian locations were considered to be sufficiently documented at that time and no further work was recommended. However, 4 locations yielded mid-to-late 19 th century material and therefore their level of significance and information potential was judged to be moderate to high. Stage 4 archaeological mitigation of these sites was recommended and subsequently completed , Amherst Quarry Expansion Amherstberg, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. Contracted to conduct an archaeological assessment for an approximate 65 hectare property located in the Geographic Township of Anderdon, Essex County, Ontario. The Stage 3 field investigations was conducted in 2009 and concluded that 1 location produced a significant amount of early to mid 19 th century cultural material and additional Stage 4 archaeological assessment was recommended and subsequently completed. 2008, Belmont Rose Quarry County of Peterborough, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 35.4 hectare property located in the Geographic Township of Belmont, Township of Havelock, Belmont and Methuen, County of Peterborough, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources. As no cultural material was identified no additional archaeological assessment was recommended. 2008, CBM St. Marys Eramosa Pit Expansion Township of Centre Wellington, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximately 20 hectare property located in the Geographic Township of Eramosa, now Township of Centre Wellington, Wellington County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of two locations, one producing historic Euro-Canadian material and the other Pre-Contact Aboriginal cultural material. The first location is a scatter of late 19th and 20th century Euro-Canadian cultural material of limited cultural heritage value and no additional assessment was recommended. The second location is an isolated Pre-Ccontact Aboriginal findspot of limited cultural heritage value and no additional assessment was recommended. 2008, East Garafraxa Pit Expansion Dufferin, County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for a 9.6 hectare property slated to be a gravel pit expansion located in the Township of East Garafraxa, Dufferin County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of four locations producing pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. All four locations produced only a limited amount of cultural material and as a consequence no additional assessment was recommended. 2008, Lafarge West Paris Expansion Whiting Property Brant County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. Archaeological assessments (Stages 1 & 2) were conducted for an approximate 62 acre aggregate property located in the former Geographic Township of Brantford, Brant County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of four areas producing pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. Two archaeological sites were found to be findspots of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material and due to the limited significance and information potential of a solitary artifact, these locations were judged to have a low heritage value and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. Publications - Page 2 of 18

The remaining two archaeological sites both produced a significant amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material and additional archaeological work in the form of a Stage 3 site-specific assessment was recommended in order to better evaluate the significance and information potential of these sites. The Stage 3 excavations the remaining two locations resulted in the documentation of two distinct and relatively large areas of pre-contact Aboriginal occupation. The 2004 Ministry of Culture Draft Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists assigns a high heritage value designation to large, dense lithic scatters. As a result was recommended that Stage 4 mitigation be conducted at thwese two archaeological sites in advance of any ground disturbance activities. 2008, Orchardview Pit, Town of Kingsville Essex County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for a 13 hectare property located in the Town of Kingsville (Gosfield South), Essex County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological material. As a result, no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2008, Sykes Aggregates Jenner Pit Township of Harwich, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for an 18.4 hectare property slated to be a gravel pit located in the Geographic Township of Harwich, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological material. As a result, no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2008, Vidcom Uxbridge Main Pit Expansion Municipality of Durham, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stage 1, 2 & 3) was conducted for an approximate 53 hectare aggregate extraction property located in the Township of Uxbridge, Regional Municipality of Durham, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in identification of one small pre-contact Aboriginal site and one historic scatter. Due to the potential archaeological significance of these locations, both were subject to a Stage 3 assessment in order to better evaluate its significance and information potential. The Stage 3 assessment of the precontact Aboriginal site resulted in the recovery of a minimal amount of cultural material and no additional assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 assessment of historic scatter site resulted in the recovery of additional 19th century Euro-Canadian material and a Stage 4 assessment of this archaeological site was recommended if the area could not be satisfactorily avoided. The intent was to avoid this site and afford it long term protection on the site plan. 2007, CBM Bromberg Pit Township of North Dumfries, Ontario Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for a 52 hectare property located in the Township of North Dumfries, Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of six locations producing pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. Two of the locations produced only a limited amount of cultural material and as a consequence no additional assessment was recommended. The remaining locations consisted of relatively dense scatters of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material and additional Stage 3 archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 assessment of the three locations resulted in the recovery of only a small amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. Due to the limited significance and information potential of these sites they were judged to have a low cultural interest or value and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 assessment of the remaining location (the Bromber Pit site) resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material and therefore additional Stage 4 mitigation was warranted. The Stage 4 assessment of the Bromberg Pit site resulted in the documentation of a small pre-contact Aboriginal activity area. No diagnostic artifacts were recovered, and therefore it is impossible to assign the site to a specific temporal phase or assign it a cultural affiliation. The Stage 4 mitigation at the Bromberg Pit site was completed and no further archaeological fieldwork was required. Publications - Page 3 of 18

2007, CBM Huxley Pit Town of Hillsburgh, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 153 acre property located in the Geographic Township of Erin, Town of Hillsburgh, Wellington County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological material. As a result, no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2007, CBM Olalondo, Fanshawe Pit Expansion Municipality of Thames Centre, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 4.9 acre proposed pit expansion located in the Municipality of Thames Centre, Middlesex County, Ontario. The subject property was formerly used as a camp and is comprised primarily of areas of previous disturbance with lesser areas of overgrown scrub and trees. Although all of the camp buildings have been removed, foundations and other recent structural debris are evident. The Stage 2 investigation did not result in the documentation of any archaeological material or concerns. As there were no sites of cultural heritage interest on the subject property, no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2007, Inland West Pit Township of Warwick, Ontario Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 40 acres potential aggregate property located in the Township of Warwick, Lambton County, Ontario. The Stage 2 investigation resulted in the identification of fifteen locations producing pre-contact Aboriginal material. Six of the archaeological sites consisted of isolated findspots or very small clusters of cultural material. Due to the limited significance of these sites no additional archaeological assessment was recommended for these sites. A significant amount of cultural material was noted at nine of the fifteen sites and additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended to better understand the nature of these archaeological resources. The Stage 3 assessment of four of these locations resulted in the recovery of a small amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. Due to the limited significance and information potential of these sites they were judged to have a low cultural interest or value and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 assessment of the remaining five locations resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material and additional Stage 4 mitigation was warranted. 2007, Lafarge Fonthill Pit Expansion Welland County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 76 acre property located in the Geographic Township of Pelham, Town of Fonthill, Regional Municipality of Niagara, Welland County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of two locations producing pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. The sites identified during the Stage 2 investigation are characterised by a very small amount of cultural material. Due to the paucity of material at each site the significance and information potential was judged to be limited and no additional archaeological assessment was recommended. 2007, Lafarge North Quarry Extension City of Hamilton, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 2 field assessment that was conducted on a 30.9 hectare property located in the City of Hamilton, Ontario did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended. 23 2007, Thames Valley Aggregates, Scout Camp Pit City of London, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 40 acre proposed aggregate pit located in the Geographic Township of London, now City of London, County of Middlesex, Ontario. The Stage 2 investigation did not result in the identification of any areas of archaeological concern, no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2006, AAROC Aggregates, GH Pit Township of Zorra, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 85 acre development property located in the former Geographic Township of North Oxford, now Township of Zorra, Oxford County Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of four locations producing archaeological material, three pre-contact Aboriginal sites and one late 19 th century Euro-Canadian site. Only a small amount of cultural material was recovered from all three of the Aboriginal sites, consequently the significance and information potential was judged to be limited and no further archaeological assessment was recommended for these Aboriginal sites. The material collected from the Euro-Canadian site dates to the late 19 th century. Due to the late date of material recovered, as well as the fact that late 19 th century homesteads are quite common in southwestern Ontario, the significance and information potential of the Euro-Canadian location was judged to be limited and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2006, Dan Leamington Gravel Pit Town of Kingsville, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for a 3.21 acre property located in the Geographic Township of Gosfield South, Town of Kingsville, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of three locations producing 19 th and 20 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. The sites identified during the Stage 2 investigation of the proposed Dan Pit property represent a long history of Euro-Canadian occupation in this area. Each artifact concentration is characterised by artifacts dating throughout the 19 th and 20 th century. There was a broad range in date of material recovered as well as a lack of significant concentrations of early 19 th century artifacts, with the majority of artifacts originating in the 20 th century. Due to the close proximity of two residential and agricultural structures as well as the large range in date of material recovered, all three locations were judged to have low archaeological significance and information potential and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2006, Barber Pit, Class B Oxford County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1 Archaeological Assessment. The study area is approximately 15 hectares in size and is located in the Township of Zorra, formerly North Oxford, County of Oxford, Ontario. The background research of the archaeological database indicated that there were no known archaeological resources within the limits of the study area, however, there are thirteen registered archaeological sites within a two kilometre radius of the study area. A visual inspection of the study area indicated that the entire property had been previously impacted by aggregate activities. The subject property was being used for topsoil manufacturing, with some agricultural buildings, a dirt road and areas of previous extraction. The Stage 1 assessment has resulted in the determination that the entire study area had been previously disturbed by aggregate activities. Due to the extensive previous disturbance, the subject property was judged to have a low archaeological potential and did not require archaeological field assessment. 2006, Capital Paving Montrose Pit Township of Woolwich, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for the proposed Montrose Pit license application. The subject property is approximately 75 acres located in Woolwich Township, Waterloo County, Ontario. Publications - Page 5 of 18

The Stage 2 field assessment of the Montrose Pit property resulted in the identification of one location producing Aboriginal cultural material. Due to the paucity of artifacts recovered the significance and information potential was judged to be limited and no further archaeological assessment was recommended for this site. 2006, Dufferin Aggregates, Brown Pit Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted in 1993 for a proposed approximately 42 hectare gravel pit (Brown Pit) located in the Township of North Dumfries, Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of 31 archaeological finds on the subject property. Of these 31 finds, 17 had a small amount of cultural material (five artifacts or less) and were not considered significant, the eight remaining sites were judged to be significant and these sites were provided protection from aggregate activities on the site plan. The Stage 3 excavations at the Beattie Site resulted in the recovery of only a small amount of Euro-Canadian cultural material. It was determined that the majority of the Beattie Site remains undisturbed underneath an earth berm constructed between the area of extraction and Regional Road 71. As the Beattie site was inaccessible at the time, and appeared to be relatively undisturbed, it was recommended that in advance of rehabilitation of this area a licensed archaeologist should monitor the removal of the berm and excavations should be conducted on the remaining portion of the site. This Stage 4 assessment should consist of the excavation of a series of additional one metre units in the area of greatest artifact density, followed by the mechanical removal of topsoil from the remainder of the site area in order to uncover all subsurface post or cultural features. The Stage 3 excavations at the other location resulted in the recovery of only a small amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. It was determined that a significant portion of the site was subject to inadvertent impact during aggregate extraction by the previous owners of the property. Due to the paucity of artifacts and the fact that the significant portion of the site has now been destroyed, no further archaeological fieldwork is recommended for this site and clearance to extract this area was requested. 2006, Lafarge Soares Quarry - Dundas City of Hamilton, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-4 archaeological assessment was conducted for the Dundas Soares Quarry, an approximate 290 acre property located in the Geographic Township of West Flamborough, now City of Hamilton, Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentworth, Wentworth County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of 34 locations producing archaeological material, including 29 pre-contact Aboriginal sites and 5 Euro-Canadian sites. Most of the Aboriginal sites had only a small amount of cultural material present, and as a consequence the significance and information potential was judged to be limited and no further archaeological assessment was recommended for 19 of these locations. Three Euro-Canadian sites all produced late 19 th or 20 th century cultural material and because these are quite common in southwestern Ontario the significance and information potential was judged to be limited and no further archaeological assessment was recommended for these sites. Two Euro-Canadian sites and 10 Aboriginal sites all warranted Stage 3 archaeological investigation to better understand the nature of the cultural deposits at each site. The Stage 3 assessment of eight of the Aboriginal sites all resulted in the recovery of only a small amount of cultural material, consequently no additional archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 assessments of the two Euro-Canadian sites, as well as the remaining two Aboriginal sites resulted in the determination that these sites will need Stage 4 mitigation or excavation in advance of any ground disturbance activities. 2006, Leitch Farm Pit Township of West Nissouri, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 2-3 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 2-3 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 220 acre proposed Leitch Farm Pit located at Heritage Road, in the Geographic Township of West Nissouri, Middlesex County, Ontario. The Stage 2 assessment resulted in the identification of one location producing mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. In order to better understand the significance and information potential of this location, additional Stage 3 archaeological assessment was recommended. Publications - Page 6 of 18

The Stage 3 assessment resulted in the recovery of a substantial amount of primarily late 19 th century cultural material. Due to the larger percentage of later artifacts and the existence of a structure in the same approximate location in the 1878 Illustrated Historical Atlas of Middlesex County the significance and information potential for this site was judged to be limited and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2006, Naylor/Foreman Pit Town of Whitchurch-Stouffille, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. The land to be assessed consists of an approximate 18 hectare property located in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffille, Regional Municipality of York, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the documentation of the Naylor site, a midden associated with an existing residential structure, constructed on the site circa Due to the late date of material recovered, the archaeological significance and information potential of the Naylor site, it was judged to be limited and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment of the remaining portions of the study area did not result in the identification of any archaeological material and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2006, Moore Quarry - Wayside Pit Permit City of Ottawa, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stage 1) was previously conducted for the Moore Property in the Geographic Township of Goulbourn, City of Ottawa, Ontario. Based on the results of the Stage 1 assessment, a Stage 2 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 140 acre portion of the R.W. Tomlinson Limited Moore property, located in the Geographic Township of Goulbourn, City of Ottawa, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the documentation of two Euro-Canadian archaeological resources. The Stage 2 assessment of the first location resulted in the documentation of an early to mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian artifact scatter. Due to the significance and information potential of this site, additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended for this location. The Stage 2 assessment of the second location resulted in the documentation of a late 19 th to 20 th century cluster of artifacts. Due to the late date of material recovered, the significance and information potential was judged to be limited and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 excavations at the first location resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of early-to-mid 19 th century cultural material. Consequently, this site will require further Stage 4 assessment in advance of the licensing of this portion of the property. The Stage 4 mitigation of this site resulted in the documentation of a primarily 19 th century occupation. The excavation documented the remains of an early frame or log structure that predates the present brick home constructed circa The location was fully excavated and no further archaeological documentation was required. 2005, CBM Aggregates Lanci Pit Wellington County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 80 acre proposed aggregate pit, located in Puslinch Township, Wellington County, Ontario. The Stage 2 investigation did not result in the recovery of any archaeological material. As a consequence, no further archaeological work was recommended. 2005, CBM Aggregates Olszowka Pit Brant County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 202 hectare proposed aggregate pit, located in the Geographic Townships of Burford and Brantford, County of Brant, Ontario. The southwest corner of the study area had been previously assessed in 1996 by staff archaeologists from the Ministry of Transportation, and six archaeological sites were registered (MTO 1996). The Stage 2 examination resulted in the relocation of these sites as well as the identification of 54 additional locations producing pre-contact Aboriginal artifacts and five locations producing 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. Additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended for 30 of these archaeological sites in order to better evaluate their significance and information potential. Publications - Page 7 of 18

The Stage 3 excavations of the first 10 sites resulted in the recovery of a small amount of additional cultural material. Due to the limited significance and information potential of these locations, no further archaeological work was recommended. The Stage 3 excavations of locations 11 and 12 resulted in the recovery of a large amount of late 19 th century to early 20 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material, however due to the late date of these locations no further archaeological assessment was recommended for these sites. The Stage 3 excavations of the remaining locations resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of Pre-Contact Aboriginal cultural material and the recovery of a significant amount of early-to-mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. Consequently, due to the significance and information potential of these locations it was recommended that they be subject to additional Stage 4 assessment or avoidance. The Olszowka Pit is comprised of three large operational areas. Area 1, located east of Bishop s Gate Road (County Road 16), was clear of any archaeological concerns, and no further assessment was needed before extraction can begin in this area. Area 2 is located west of Bishop s Gate road and east of Landons Creek. There were nine significant archaeological sites found in this area. It was necessary to either protect or fully excavate each of these sites before any soil disturbance activities took place in Area 2. There were also nine significant archaeological sites located within Area 3, which is comprised of the lands located west of Landon s Creek, extending to the western limit of the property. As was the case with Area 2, it was necessary to either protect or fully excavate each of these sites before any soil disturbance activities took place in Area , Handy Pit Expansion Grey County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 15 hectare proposed aggregate pit located in the Township of Glenelg, Grey County, Ontario. The Stage 2 examination did not result in the identification of any archaeological material. Consequently, no further assessment was recommended. 2005, Johnson Brothers Huron Pit Township of Colborne, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 60 acre proposed aggregate pit located in the Geographic Township of Colborne, Huron County, Ontario. Stage 2 examination did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources. Consequently, the archaeological condition of the aggregate pit licensing process was met and no further archaeological work was recommended. 2005, Lafarge Cambridge Pit Extension Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate hectare proposed aggregate pit, of which 8.1 hectares is proposed for extraction, and additional lands, located in the Township of North Dumfries, Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario. The Stage 2 assessment resulted in the discovery of one location producing mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. Due to the fact that this location falls outside the limits of the current licensing application further Stage 3 assessment was not recommended. However, if development activities were to occur in the immediate vicinity of this site at some point in the future, Stage 3 assessment will be required in order to further evaluate its significance and information potential. 2005, Lafarge Hagersville Quarry Extension Haldimand County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 9.11 hectare quarry extension property, 6.77 hectares to be extracted, located East of Plank Road in the Town of Hagersville, Township of Oneida, Haldimand County, Ontario. During the field inspection the study area was found to have been entirely disturbed by access roads, a railway bed, machine landings and overburden piles, and as a consequence to have low archaeological potential. Given the results of the Stage 1 assessment, no additional Stage 2 assessment was recommended. Publications - Page 8 of 18

2005, McNally East Pit, Township of Pislinch Wellington County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1-3) was conducted on an approximate 100 acre proposed aggregate pit property located in the Township of Puslinch, Wellington County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of one location producing 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. Due to the fact that only early to mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian artifacts were recovered from this location it was recommended that it be subject to additional Stage 3 assessment in order to further assess its significance and information potential. The subsequent Stage 3 excavations of this location resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of additional early-to-mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. Consequently, Stage 4 mitigation was recommended in advance of development. The Stage 4 excavations at the location produced a collection of 19 th century artifacts that are consistent with a mid 19 th century domestic settlement. Additional historic background research conducted as part of the Stage 4 assessment suggests that this location consists of the remains of a mid 19 th century log cabin or frame home which was in all likelihood the homestead of the McNaughton family. The residence was likely constructed in the mid 19 th century, and abandoned sometime prior to The site was fully mitigated and no further archaeological work was recommended. 2005, Preston Sand and Gravel, Roszell Pit Puslinch Township, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 80 acre proposed aggregate pit to be in Puslinch Township, County of Wellington, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the discovery of 12 locations producing pre-contact Aboriginal artifacts. Due to the limited amount of cultural material recovered at these sites, they were determined to exhibit a low level of significance and information potential and no additional assessment was recommended. 2005, Thamesford Highway 19 Pit Township of Zorra, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-3 archaeological assessment was conducted for a proposed aggregate pit located south of Thamesford, along Highway 19. In total the study area consists of approximately 85 acres located in the Geographic Township of North Oxford, now Zorra Township, Oxford County, Ontario. The Stage 2 archaeological assessment resulted in the identification of one archaeological resource producing mid-19 th century Euro- Canadian cultural material. Due to this the site was judged to exhibit sufficient significance and information potential to warrant further Stage 3 archaeological assessment. The Stage 3 excavations at the location resulted in the recovery of a large amount of predominantly mid-to-late 19 th century cultural material. As late 19 th century domestic sites are relatively common in southwestern Ontario, this location was judged to have a low degree of significance and information potential and no further archaeological work was recommended. 2005, Thames Valley Aggregates, Putnam Pit Oxford County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-3 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 29 acre proposed aggregate pit located in the Township of Zorra, formerly North Oxford, Oxford County, Ontario. The Stage 2 assessment resulted in the identification of two locations, one producing 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural remains and one producing pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. Due to the fact that only early to mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian artifacts were recovered from the first location, additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended in order to better evaluate its significance and information potential. Only a limited amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material was recovered from the second and therefore no additional assessment was recommended for this location. The Stage 3 excavation of the first location resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of additional early-to-mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. Consequently, due to the significance and information potential of the site it was recommended that it be subject to additional Stage 4 assessment in advance of any ground disturbance in this area. The Stage 4 assessment of this location was completed and no further archaeological assessment was required. Publications - Page 9 of 18

2004, Aikensville Pit, Township of Puslinch Wellington County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for a 52.5 hectare proposed aggregate pit located in the Township of Puslinch, Wellington County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the discovery of any archaeological cultural material. Consequently, no further archaeological work was required. 2004, Erie Sand and Gravel City of London, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-3 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 4.36 hectare property located in the Township of Westminster, now City of London, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of one small pre-contact Aboriginal site, for which additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended in order to further evaluate its significance and information potential. The Stage 3 assessment resulted in the recovery of minimal pre-contact Aboriginal material, and consequently no additional archaeological assessment was recommended for this location. 2004, Hard Rock Paving, Law Quarry Municipality of Niagara, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1, 2 & 3) was conducted for an approximate 287 acre proposed quarry site, situated in the Township of Wainfleet, Municipality of Niagara, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of 15 previously unregistered sites; including one late 19 th century Euro-Canadian site and 14 pre-contact Aboriginal sites. Due to the limited significance and information potential of the Euro- Canadian site, and three of the pre-contact Aboriginal sites, no further archaeological assessment was recommended for these locations. Additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended for the remaining locations. The Stage 3 assessment of Location 2, Location 4, Location 7 and Location 9 resulted in the recovery of a small amount of cultural material. Due to the limited significance and information potential of these locations no further archaeological assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 assessment of the remaining seven locations resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of cultural material and consequently Stage 4 mitigation was required in advance of any aggregate extraction activities. 2004, Holman Pit Extension Wellington County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for a 10.1 hectares proposed aggregate pit located in the Township of Guelph-Eramosa, formerly Guelph Township, County of Wellington, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the discovery of a diffuse scatter of mid-to-late 19 th century Euro-Canadian cultural material. Due to the diffuse nature of the concentration and the relatively late date of material recovered, it was determined that this location had a low degree of significance and information potential and no further archaeological assessment was recommended. 2004, Lowndes Quarry City of Hamilton, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1, 2 & 3) was conducted for an approximate 193 hectare proposed quarry site, situated in the Geographic Township of East Flamborough, now the City of Hamilton, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of four previously unregistered sites; including one find spot of an isolated pre-contact Aboriginal artifact and three 19 th century Euro-Canadian artifact scatters. Due to the limited significance and information potential of the find spot location and one of the 19 th century Euro- Canadian artifact scatters which is very diffuse, no additional assessment was recommended. Additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended for the remaining two locations in order to further evaluate their significance and information potential. The Stage 3 field assessment of these locations produced a number of mid-19 th and early 20 th century artifacts. Given the relatively late date of material recovered it was determined that both locations had a low degree of significance and information potential and no additional archaeological assessment was recommended. 29 2004, McCann Redi-Mix Pit Expansion Perth County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 1 background research indicated that there were no previously registered archaeological sites within 2.0 kilometers of the subject property, an approximate 9.2 hectare property located in the Geographic Township of Blanshard, Perth County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological material and no additional assessment was recommended. 2004, Nelson Aggregates Quarry Expansion City of Burlington, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1, 2 & 3) was conducted on an approximate 200 acre property located in the City of Burlington, Municipality of Halton, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of five previously unregistered pre-contact Aboriginal sites. Additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended for three of the sites to further evaluate their significance and information potential. The Stage 3 testing of the first two locations resulted in the recovery of sufficient pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material to warrant additional Stage 4 investigation. The Stage 3 testing of the fourth location resulted in the recovery of a smaller amount of cultural material, but enough to warrant limited Stage 4 testing. The Stage 4 assessment the first location resulted in the documentation of a historic Neutral period cabin site, circa A.D. The Stage 4 assessment of the second location resulted in the documentation of another small Aboriginal cabin site or small hamlet. The diagnostic artifacts recovered also suggest an occupation during the historic Neutral period, circa A.D. The Stage 4 assessment of the fourth location resulted in the documentation of a small area of Aboriginal activity. The diagnostic artifacts recovered from this location also dated to the historic Neutral period, circa A.D. The Stage 4 mitigation at these sites was completed. 2004, Orford Sand and Gravel Pit Expansion Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximately 16 acres aggregate pit expansion located in the Geographic Township of Orford, Regional Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of a single find spot of chipping detritus material. Due to the limited significance and information potential of this find, no additional archaeological assessment was recommended. 2004, Robinson Pit, Township of Zorra Oxford County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for a hectare proposed aggregate pit located in the Township of Zorra, formerly West Zorra, County of Oxford, Ontario. Due to the limited significance and information potential of these locations no further archaeological fieldwork was recommended. 2004, Steve Smith Pit, Township of Zorra Oxford County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 2 survey did not result in the discovery of any archaeological materials and no additional assessment was recommended for the area , Bingo West Pit, Township of Bosanquet Lambton County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 2 fieldwork resulted in the identification of 11 locations with pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. Additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended for four of these archaeological sites in order to better evaluate their significance and information potential. The Stage 3 excavations of these 4 locations resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of cultural material and it was determined that these sites would require Stage 4 assessment in advance of any aggregate extraction activities. During the 2008 field season a Stage 4 assessment was conducted within Phase 2 of aggregate expansion of the Bingo West Pit. Publications - Page 11 of 18

2003, Mast North Snyder Pit Extension County of Wellington, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-3 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 100 acre aggregate pit expansion located in the Township of Puslinch, County of Wellington, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of one pre-contact Aboriginal find spot and two mid-19 th century Euro-Canadian sites. Due to the potential significance and information potential of the two Euro-Canadian archaeological resources, additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 investigations resulted in the determination that both locations constitute significant archaeological concerns. As such each site was excluded from the excavation area, and Ministry of Culture approved long-term protection measures were put in place. 2003, West Elgin Pit Expansion Elgin County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. The Stage 2 field assessment for an approximate 10 acre aggregate extraction site located in the Geographic Township of Aldborough, County of Elgin, Ontario resulted in the identification of two pre-contact Aboriginal sites within the proposed licence area. Due to the potential significance of these sites, additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended. The Stage 3 assessment of the second location resulted in the recovery of only a minimal amount of cultural material of limited significance and information potential. Consequently, no additional assessment was recommended for this location. The Stage 3 assessment of the first location resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material, and additional Stage 4 mitigation was required for this location. The Stage 4 assessment of the West Elgin Pit site resulted in the documentation of one small pre-contact Aboriginal activity area or campsite. The diagnostic artifacts recovered suggest that the site consists of a small Meadowood special purpose camp (circa B.C.). The Stage 4 mitigation at the West Elgin Pit site was completed and no further archaeological fieldwork was required. 2003, Lawford Pit, Town of Caledon East Municipality of Peel, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-3 archaeological assessment was conducted on a 400 acre property located in the Town of Caledon East, Municipality of Peel, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of four precontact Aboriginal sites and one mid-to-late 19 th century Euro-Canadian site. Additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended for two of the pre-contact Aboriginal sites to further evaluate their significance and information potential. The Stage 3 testing of these locations resulted in the recovery of sufficient pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material to warrant additional Stage 4 investigation at each location. 2003, Don Young Trucking Sand Pit Middlesex County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. This Stage 1-2 assessment was conducted for an approximate 3.5 hectare proposed aggregate pit located in Middlesex County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of four locations producing pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material. The first two locations were located outside the boundary of the proposed licensed area. Due to the low significance and information potential of the second two locations, no further archaeological fieldwork was recommended. 2003, Olympia Sand and Gravel Pit Town of Caledon, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist. A Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment was conducted for an approximate 300 acre proposed aggregate extraction site located in the Town of Caledon, Municipality of Peel, Ontario. 31 2002, Dufferin Aggregates, Cochrane Pit Township of Clarke, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stage 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 32.5 hectare aggregate extraction property located in the Geographic Township of Clarke, Municipality of Durham, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in identification of one late 19 th to 20 th century Euro-Canadian site. Given the relatively late date of the location, as well as its lengthy occupational history, it was determined to have low archaeological significance and information potential. 2002, Dufferin Aggregates Erin Pit Expansion Township of Erin, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-3 archaeological assessment was conducted on a 60.2 hectare aggregate extraction property located in the Township of Erin, County of Wellington, Ontario. At that time, one mid 19 th century Euro-Canadian site was documented and a recommendation was made that it be subject to additional Stage 3 assessment to determine its significance and information potential. The Stage 3 excavations resulted in a determination the location, a pre-1860 Euro-Canadian homestead, had moderate to high informational potential. As such it was recommended that the site should undergo a Stage 4 salvage excavation in advance of construction. The Stage 4 assessment of the location resulted in the documentation of a mid-19 th century Euro-Canadian pioneer homestead. The site was fully investigated and no additional archaeological assessment was recommended. 2002, Lafarge, Uxbridge Pit Expansion, The Hewlett Property Township of Uxbridge, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate six acre aggregate pit located in the Geographic Township of Uxbridge, Municipality of Durham, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended. 2002, Lobo Sand and Gravel Pit Expansion Middlesex County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1-4) was conducted for an approximate 11.9 hectare aggregate pit expansion, located in the Geographic Township of Westminster, Middlesex County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of one mid-19 th century Euro-Canadian site, as well as four pre-contact Aboriginal sites, each of which was subject to a Stage 3 assessment in order to evaluate its significance and information potential. The Stage 3 assessment resulted in the determination that the Euro-Canadian site consisted of a post-1860 occupation and no additional assessment was recommended. Likewise, only a minimal amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material was recovered from the first pre-contact Aboriginal site and no additional assessment was recommended. However, the additional 3 pre-contact Aboriginal sites each produced a significant amount of pre-contact Aboriginal cultural material and additional Stage 4 excavation was recommended in advance of extraction. 2002, West Elgin Pit Expansion Elgin County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted an approximate 10 acre property located in the Geographic Township of Aldborough, Elgin County, Ontario. The background research indicated that there were no previously registered archaeological sites within 2.0 kilometers of the subject property, however the Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of two pre-contact Aboriginal sites within the proposed license area. Due to the potential significance of these sites, additional Stage 3 assessment was recommended in order to assess their significance and information potential. Publications - Page 13 of 18

2001, Brock Aggregates, Sunderland Property Township of Brock, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for a proposed aggregate extraction pit located in Brock Township, Municipality of Durham, Ontario. In total, the two properties consist of approximately 3.4 hectares of manicured lawn and reforested lands. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of no archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended. 2001, Giordano Sand & Gravel Pit Expansion Municipality of Durham, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for an approximate 12.6 hectare proposed aggregate pit expansion located in the Township of Uxbridge, Regional Municipality of Durham, Ontario. Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of no archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended. 2001, Lafarge James Pit Expansion Township of Uxbridge, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 100 acre proposed aggregate license located in the Geographic Township of Uxbridge, Municipality of Durham, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended. 2001, Livingston Excavating & Trucking, Simcoe Pit County of Norfolk, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted an approximate 20 hectare property located in the Geographic Township of Woodhouse, County of Norfolk, Ontario. The background research indicated that there were no previously registered archaeological sites within 2.0 kilometers of the subject property, however the Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of one pre-contact Aboriginal find spot within the proposed license area, as well as eight pre-contact Aboriginal sites in the area west of the proposed licence area. Due to the limited significance of the one archaeological resource within the application area, no additional archaeological assessment was recommended. 2001, Select Stone & Aggregate, Wiarton Quarry Township of Lindsay, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted for an approximate 21 hectare quarry located in the Geographic Township of Lindsay, Bruce County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended. 2000, Beachville Lime Quarry Oxford County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1, 2 & 3) was conducted on a 600 acre property located in the former North Oxford Township, now Zorra Township, Oxford County, Ontario. Background research indicated the presence of only one registered archaeological resource within 2.0 kilometers of the study area. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of ten locations producing archaeological materials, including five 19 th century Euro-Canadian sites and five pre-contact Aboriginal sites. The Stage 2 general survey resulted in the recommendation that two of the pre-contact Aboriginal sites and two of the Euro-Canadian sites required additional archaeological assessment. The Stage 3 assessment of the two pre-contact Aboriginal sites did not result in the recovery of significant archaeological remains, and additional assessment for these sites was not recommended. The Stage 3 assessment of the Euro-Canadian did result in the recovery of numerous artifacts consistent with an early to mid-19 th century domestic occupation. Due to the significance of these Euro-Canadian locations, it is recommended that these sites be avoided. A suitable barrier has been erected around each site, providing a minimum of a 10-meter buffer. These areas have been clearly identified on the site plan, and will not be subject to any impacts; including soil or aggregate stockpiling, berm construction, or vehicular traffic. 33 2000, Dennis McGuire Aggregate Pit Biddulph Township, Ontario Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted on a 6.8 hectare property located in Biddulph Township, Middlesex County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended. 2000, Federal White Cement Quarry Expansion Zorra Township, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was previously conducted for an approximately 66.1 hectare property located in Zorra Township, Oxford County, Ontario. An early-to-mid 19 th Century Euro-Canadian site was identified on Lot 17, and the recommendation was made that it be subject to additional Stage 3 assessment. The Stage 3 test excavations resulted in the recovery of numerous 1830 to 1850 artifacts. Given that the occupation at the site was limited to the first half of the 19 th century, it was recommended that the site be avoided. A suitable barrier was erected around the site, providing a minimum of a 10- meter buffer. This area was clearly identified on the site plan, and will not be subject to any impacts; including soil or aggregate stockpiling, berm construction, or vehicular traffic. 2000, J.C. Duff Pit Expansion Town of Halton Hills, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted on a 14.5 hectare property located in the Geographic Township of Esquesing, Town of Halton Hills, Municipality of Halton, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources, and additional archaeological assessment was not recommended. 2000, Jim Mattice Sand Pit Township of Woodhouse, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 & 2) was conducted on a 3.4 hectare property located in the Geographic Township of Woodhouse, City of Nantikoke, Municipality of Haldimand-Norfolk, Ontario. The background research indicated the presence of one archaeological site within 2.5 kilometers of the subject property, however the Stage 2 field assessment did not result in the identification of any archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended. 2000, Kemp Aggregate Pit Middlesex County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for a 12.9 hectare proposed aggregate extraction pit located on in the Township of West Nissouri, Middlesex County, Ontario. Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of no archaeological resources and additional assessment was not recommended , Cayuga Materials Quarry City of Nanticoke, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-4 Archaeological Assessment. In 1999 a Stage 1-2 archaeological assessment was conducted for a acre proposed limestone quarry located in the City of Nanticoke, Ontario. During the 1999 assessment sixteen archaeological sites were documented, although not all of the property was assessed due the presence of crops in several fields. In 2003 the entirety of the property was subject to assessment. In total, the Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of twenty-two archaeological sites. Due to their significance and information potential, additional Stage 3 archaeological assessment was recommended for all but one of these sites. The Stage 3 assessment of 5 of these locations, resulted in the determination that there are significant archaeological deposits at each and additional Stage 4 mitigation was required for these 5 locations. Publications - Page 15 of 18

1999, Blue Circle Aggregates Martinello Pit Wellington County, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-2 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stages 1 and 2) was conducted on an approximately 50 acre property located in the Township of Puslinch, Wellington County, Ontario. The Stage 2 field assessment resulted in the identification of a single archaeological site of limited significance, and additional assessment was not recommended. 1999, Lafarge Regan Pit Expansion Uxbridge Township, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. A Stage 1-3 archaeological assessment was conducted on a 50 acre proposed gravel pit expansion located in Uxbridge Township, Municipality of Durham, Ontario. The Stage 2 assessment resulted in the discovery of two mid-to-late 19 th century archaeological sites. Due to the potential significance of these finds it was recommended that they be subject to a Stage 3 assessment to further evaluate their significance and information potential. The Stage 3 assessment of these sites did not result in the recovery of significant archaeological materials, and consequently no additional archaeological assessment was recommended. 1999, Mountain Lake Quarry Cavendish Township, Ontario Project Manager - Senior Project Archaeologist, Stage 1-3 Archaeological Assessment. An archaeological assessment (Stage 1 & 2) was conducted on an approximately 177 hectare parcel located in Cavendish Township and Lot 32, Concessions 6-7, Harvey Township, Peterborough County, Ontario. There are no registered archaeological sites on the subject property, and none within 10 kilometers of the study area. The Stage 2 assessment resulted in the discovery of one site producing fragments of pre-contact Aboriginal ceramics. Due to the potential significance of this find it was recommended that it be subject to a Stage 3 assessment to further evaluate its significance and information potential. The Stage 3 assessment of this site resulted in the recovery of a significant number of Late Woodland sherds from a restricted area. Consequently, it was recommended that this area of artifact concentration be subject to Stage 4 mitigation. Publications - Page 16 of 18
