LNA Excellence Awards have always been successful in allowing industry members to share their hard work, dedication and to be recognised for excellence in their field. 2 Conditions of Entry 1. Entries will be accepted for judging from Full Members of the LNA for construction and maintenance works (financial at the time of judging). 2. Projects submitted must be completed within the last four (4) years and be situated within NSW/ACT. NB: It is wise to give plant material time to establish prior to entering these Awards. 3. Projects that have previously won an award may be entered again only after four years have elapsed since the winning entry was awarded. 4. Each project entered must comply with relevant legislative and statutory requirements. The entry must include the signed Contractor s Declaration to meet the criteria and be eligible for judging. 5. Duplicate (2 x) copies of entry must be submitted for judging. 6. Entries are judged on merit and excellence. Individual or Company name must only appear on the Entry Payment Form LNA membership number only should be included on each page of the entry to ensure judging anonymity. 7. Entries are to include 2 descriptions: Technical Description A detailed word description must be submitted, addressing Scope of Works as well as the items as outlined in the table of Entry Form, and An accurate description of the Contractor s involvement is to be supplied and utilised for the Judge s consideration Media / Lifestyle Description A detailed marketing/lifestyle review of the project examples of which include: 1. WOOLLOOMOOLOO Inner-City Garden Courtyard Working with A Gentleman s Agreement on The Moo Project. This inner-city, Sydney courtyard in Woolloomooloo, was designed for entertainment. Boasting an impressive al-fresco area, outdoor garden lighting / audio and large feature trees. This well-executed outdoor space not only offers room for wining and dining, but also provides the practicality of a secure parking space for the resident s car. 2. MOSMAN A Garden to be Admired This garden on Sydney s Lower North Shore was designed and built to be enjoyed both practically and visually. The garden retains traditional qualities which are sympathetic to the character of the area and blends them together with contemporary features. This eclectic approach has resulted in this gardens own unique style. A simple yet functional design that provides detail and complexity through the material and planting selection. Polished concrete, recycled brick, detailed carpentry and sandstone paving and walling make up the majority of the built elements. Mature Olive trees were craned into site and set into the paving as the centre piece. Established Lilly Pilly hedges were also craned into place to provide instant privacy. Another exciting collaboration completed with Hampton Architecture. Services completed by Outdoor Establishments Landscape Design - Landscape Construction - Garden Maintenance This description will be utilized as part of the LNA marketing activities for the awards as well as the media showcase at the awards announcement event. 8. Video Files - Award entries should consist of a submission of 2 separate video files and drone footage supplied only via USB or CDROM attached to the award application. One video can consist of a panoramic shot of the completed work (no longer than 30 seconds for residential entries and 2 minutes for Commercial and Maintenance entries) that may or may not be used for marketing and award presentation purposes. The second video is for assisting the judging purposes (no longer than 5 minutes for Residential and 10 minutes for Commercial and Maintenance) which contains all technical aspects of the project including, but not limited to, close ups of joints, paving or construction materials relevant to the project that would give the judges a scope of the technicalities and workmanship. PLEASE NOTE: Videos may be edited for time constraints but may not be digitally enhanced with any software that manipulates colours or quality or applies filters and lighting effects. PLEASE NOTE: In the event a video is determined to have breached the aforementioned criteria, the video will be ineligible for the judging process and may deem the award entry liable for penalties including, but not limited to, disqualification of the award entry and ineligibility to attend the event. These descriptions may be used for Landscape Excellence Awards material. 9. Photography - A selection of 15 digital images (mixture of portrait and landscape). Digital images must meet the following specifications: Minimum resolution of 300dpi (highest quality camera setting) Image size no smaller than A4 Format jpeg or tif Only one project per CD. Entrants are responsible for the quality of all images. These images are used in the audio-visual presentation and media so good quality material will better profile your entry. 10. A plan of the subject works to identify which areas of the project are to be judged, design brief, architectural drawings, full specification (if required), tender/quote document and submission, as well as images to include construction or maintenance detail. The method for submitting material is via post Landscape Excellence Award entries close 21/7/2016

3 11. A minimum number of entries for each category will be determined by the Awards Committee for the category to be judged. The Committee reserves the right to determine whether to judge a category and/or to re-categorise those entries to the next most suitable category without reference to the entrant. In this instance, discretion will be exercised and should, in the Committee s opinion, if an issue with re-categorising exists, the entry fee (if applicable) for that category shall be refunded. 12. Any conflict of interest shall be declared between Conveners, Entrants, Judges, Committee and LNA Board Members. 13. Duplicate (2 x) copies of each entry must be posted to Master Landscaper s Association PO Box 3267 North Parramatta NSW 1750 or delivered to 456 Church Street, Parramatta (Monday to Friday between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm) before close of business 21/7/ ALL entries received will be considered in a preliminary round of judging that will determine which projects go forward as Finalists. From those finalists, Judges will endeavour to select one winner for each category and reserve the right to make multiple awards. Both the Finalist and Winners will be announced at the 2016 Landscape Excellence Awards Winners Gala Event to be held Friday, 28 October Not every entry will receive bronze, silver or gold. 19. The LNA reserves the right to publicise at its discretion any compliant entry within these Awards, without reference to the Contractor. 20. Entrants will accept the Awards Committee and Judges decisions as final and correspondence will not be entered into. 21. The LNA Master Landscapers Association and Award Entry Parties confirm that the conditions in this Agreement are valid, reasonable and are fair and equitable and any breach of these conditions may result in the aforementioned penalties including, but not limited to, disqualification and refusal to attend the ceremony. Both parties agree that upon termination of this Agreement is at the full discretion of the LNA. It is a condition of entry that entrants shall not have any action, cause of action, claim or demand against the LNA or person as a consequence of this Agreement or the termination of this Agreement, whether such claim arises pursuant to any applicable legislation, pursuant to this Agreement or otherwise at law. 15. The winner of the Graham Ross Residential, Graham Ross Commercial, Graham Ross Residential Maintenance, Graham Ross Commercial Maintenance of the Year Awards will be awarded by the Judges from each of these categories. 16. Entries only accepted after payment, which is non-refundable, excepting only as specified in Condition 11. Such payment is indication that these Conditions of Entry are understood and accepted. 17. Late entries submitted after the closing dates will not be accepted for judging. 18. Entries will only be submitted with the Owner s written authorisation in order to meet the entry criteria. The Member submitting the entry is responsible to secure the authorisation and advise the LNA. This information facilitates the LNA Judging Panel to physically inspect the work as part of the adjudication process. Each individual project must have a clearly marked folder with the projects name. All photographs pertaining to that project are to be placed in that folder for judging. Any photograph not contained within that folder will be ignored, as per the requirements of judging. We also require a separate folder marked with Media Hero images, this folder will contain photographs to be utilized on the awards announcement night to showcase the project. PLEASE NOTE: if any of the photographs that are included in the project folder are to also be utilised as Media Hero images then they need to be duplicated and placed in that folder. RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION (a) Up to $75,000 (b) $75,000 - $150,000 (c) $150,000 - $300,000 (d) Over $300,000 (e) Regional Open Value This category is for landscape construction involved with a single unit dwelling on one or combined allotments of land. Entry in Section (e) is open only to Members residing in a regional area, with the project entered being situated in a regional area, i.e. Outside the Sydney Metropolitan area. 2. COMMERCIAL & CIVIL CONSTRUCTION (a) Up to $3 Million (b) Over $3 Million This category is for landscape construction around a commercial, industrial or institutional building. Apart from factories, shops, office buildings and the like, it may include hospitals, schools, or such projects as pedestrian plazas, street closures, malls and forecourt areas etc. It includes projects for major transport infrastructure and civil projects like road systems, rail systems, transport, bridges, airports, dams or waterways. 3. OPEN SPACE - PARKLANDS, PLAYGROUNDS & LEISURE FACILITIES (a) Up to $3 Million (b) Over $3 Million This category caters for public space areas of all types and may include soft and hard landscaping. This includes structural elements including detention basins and natural area rehabilitation. This category is for landscape construction involved with areas that are designated as active or passive recreation. This may include sporting ovals, race courses, golf courses, leisure parks, nature areas, fun parks, animal parks etc., as well as the actual construction of such areas. This category may also include peripheral or supplementary landscaping to any of the aforementioned projects. It includes landscape construction involved in the development of play spaces specifically for children s play which encourages educational activities and stimulation. 4. MAINTENANCE - RESIDENTIAL (a) Residential Single House The contractor must have carried out total maintenance for a minimum of 12 month continuously prior and up to the time of entry. Previous winning projects from this category may be entered again only after two years have elapsed since the project was last entered. (b) Residential Communities Multi-Housing Development/Community - The contractor must have carried out total maintenance for a minimum of 12 month continuously prior and up to the time of entry. Previous winning projects from this category may be entered again only after two years have elapsed since the project was last entered. These categories are where the contractor must have carried out total maintenance for a minimum of 12 months continuously prior to and up to the time of entry. Previous winning projects from this category may be entered again only after two years have elapsed since the project was last entered. 5. MAINTENANCE - COMMERCIAL (a) Parklands & Open Spaces This may include sporting facilities, race courses, golf courses, leisure parks, nature areas, fun parks, animal parks etc. (b) Resorts & Retirement This may include hotels, educational Campuses, Retirement Living, Retirement Villages, and Aged Care (c) Retail & Business Parks Shopping Centres & Precincts, Industrial, Commercial Offices. These categories are where the contractor must have carried out total maintenance for a minimum of 12 months continuously prior to and up to the time of entry. Previous winning projects from this category may be entered again only after two years have elapsed since the project was last entered. 6. LOCAL GOVERNMENT AWARD Entries into this category include projects constructed by an LNA member for Local Government. Note: Onus is on the Contractor to obtain entry material and consent from Local Government.

12 7. BEST INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY LANDSCAPE MATERIAL AND SERVICE AWARD The LNA will recognise the advancement in the use of technical solutions in landscaping and the ability of LNA contractors to meet the demands of installing complex features and innovative design elements. E.g. lighting, drainage, irrigation, water features, green walls, etc. Criteria: Plans, images, design protocol, and measured outcomes where applicable. LNA Affiliate members are encouraged to submit entry for products and services that are innovation or cutting edge. 8. CELEBRATING WOMEN IN LANDSCAPING Building and construction has traditionally been a predominantly male domain. While women make up 44 per cent of the overall workforce, they comprise only 13 per cent of the employees in the building and construction sector. The LNA recognises and values the contributions of its female members, who, almost certainly, and often without realising it, are playing an important role in breaking down barriers. They are paving the way for other women to see the Landscape Industry as a possible area of employment. Criteria: Open to LNA member or their employee and is not limited to a hands on trade. May include but not limited to; office manager, educator, or administrator. A submission should demonstrate a record of the individual s contribution to the landscaping industry. 9. APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR PARKS AND GARDENS The nominee for this category should be in the final year of their apprenticeship and undertaking a landscape industry related course. A copy of the most recent TAFE results and the employer s comments must be attached. Nominees may be required to complete a series of questions, to assist the Judges. 10. APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR CONSTRUCTION The nominee for this category should be in the final year of their apprenticeship and undertaking a landscape industry related course. LANDSCAPER PROJECT/CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN/MANAGER OF THE YEAR This category can be nominated by an employer or client that has worked with the Project Manager/ Construction, Foreman/ Manager. The nominee must have had the control of the project and all associated onsite aspects. Criteria: The LNA member is responsible for obtaining a letter of reference to submit with the entry from either/ or the employer and/ or client. 12.
