Category specifics may be varied at the discretion of Landscape Queensland. Landscape Queensland s determination of the award winners is final. * Project $ cost for each category is a guide only & subject to variation once all entries are received

3 Award Categories All entries must adhere to the following guidelines 1. Eligible projects must be constructed after 30 June 2014 and completed by 30 June Training projects in the Training Award must have occurred between 1 July 2014 and 30 June Trainees and Apprentices nominated in Category 19 or 20 must have been an apprentice or trainee between 1 July 2015 and 30 June All entrants must be a Landscape Queensland member. 5. Entries must be submitted on the forms provided by Landscape Queensland. 6. Submission Forms MUST be anonymous. The first page of the Entry Form is the only page that should contain your company name. Please remove any company references from remaining pages. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. 7. A separate and completed entry form must be submitted for each project in each category. 8. All photographs must be supplied on either a CD (1 disk / entry) or uploaded to drop box as hi resolution jpegs. Your project will be showcased using these images so please ensure they are uploaded as uncompressed files, preferably at 300dpi. No more than 12 photographs are necessary. 9. Site maps and other drawings should be reduced to A4 format if included. 10. Entry forms must be completed correctly and received by last mail on Friday 29th July, All entries must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee. Entries received after Friday 29th July, 2016 may be accepted at the discretion of the Association and may also attract a late fee of $55 per entry. 12. The job value is the full and final cost of the project entered, including GST. 13. There is no limit on the number of entries in any one category, including joint entries. 14. The entrant must have completed the major portion of each project submitted. 15. Projects or parts of projects that have won a Landscape Queensland Excellence Award in previous years cannot be entered again, except in the Maintenance Categories. 16. Judges must be able to gain access to the project. Include details of any special site access requirements. 17. Projects entered must be of a professional standard at the time of judging. 18. Entries will be kept for six months. If you would like your entry returned, it is your responsibility to contact Landscape Queensland prior to 31 January Entrants may be asked to provide documentation to substantiate costs. 20. The Client Consent Form contained herein MUST be signed by the project owner granting permission for awards entry, project access and to confirm figures. 21. The Architect Consent Form contained herein MUST be signed by the Architect for all projects entered into Category Judges decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into. 23. Noncompliance of any of these submission guidelines may result in forfeit of entry and fees. 24. The contractor MUST hold the appropriate licence for ALL work completed in the entry submission. 25. Only projects entered into residential categories 1,2,3 & 4 are eligible to enter design and construct categories 5,6 or Categories 5, 6, 7, 17 & 18 are ineligible to be considered for the Residential or Commercial Queensland Landscape Construction of the Year Awards unless entered into the appropriate construction category.

4 Entry Requirements & Guidelines PLEASE NOTE: Entries can be scanned and submitted via drop box please share the folder with - one entry per folder clearly noted with contractor name and entry category Hints & Tips Tell the judges what it is about this particular entry which makes it standout provide 5 examples What elements of the entry made the job particularly challenging Your submission should be simple, easy to read and leave no ambiguity about the extent of work to be judged Use bullet points wherever possible Be brief your work will speak for itself Get your entry in EARLY. You won t have to worry about it and it will cost you less! Entry Requirements Each project entered in categories 1 18, must contain ONLY the following: 1. Entry Form 2. Submission Form 3. Project details & Scope of Works 4. Site plan (preferably reduced to A4 size) 5. Please ensure correct site access and address details are provided 6. Your photographs as high resolution jpeg files can be submitted on a CD or uploaded to drop box Share the folder with admin@landscapequeensland.com.au and clearly note contractor name and entry category One entry per folder only no more than 12 photos are required Photos should be uncompressed files, preferably at 300dpi 7. Signed client consent form 8. Contact Landscape Queensland for a list of photographers (if required) 9. Signed architect consent form (only required for entries into category 4) Submissions should contain no more than 15 pages. Training or Trainee / Apprentice Nomination Form (depending on the award you re nominating for) 3. No more than two additional pages of supporting evidence 4. Completed Trainee / Apprentice Consent Form 5. 5 Entry Guidelines Tips for completing the Entry Form Address of project Name of landscape architect / designer Job value Project owner s details If there are special instructions for gaining access to your project, please nominate them here. e.g. If permission needs to be sought from a site office, if a key is required etc. If you re a contractor, write SELF DO NOT give company name. This is all costs, including GST, at commercial rates. Labour, machine hire, materials, permits, insurance etc. whether or not these services have been paid for directly by the contractor. The job value includes all variations it is the full and final cost of the project. This MUST be signed by the owner. It is your responsibility to inform the owner that entry of the project in the awards will entail at least one, if not several, visits by judges and/or photographers to the project to assess its eligibility as a winner. Tips for completing the Training Awards Some suggestions for information you might include are; the number and type of trainees employed details of in-house training undertaken development or implementation of company policies regarding professional development mentoring programs Be selective in the supporting evidence you attached, remember you ve only got two A4 pages to demonstrate the initiatives you ve undertaken. For example, include an extract of your company policy or manual rather than the entire contents of the manual or policy. Tips for completing the Trainee/Apprentice Awards List your trainee s / apprentice s achievements in bullet point format Include any community work or initiative your trainee / apprentice exhibits outside of the industry that demonstrates his / her community insight Remember to include a photograph of your trainee / apprentice

6 Entry Guidelines Tips for completing the Scope of Works Below is an example of how you might complete the Scope of Works table provided on the Project Details Form. Please provide concise details which directly relate to the construction of your project. Brief description means no more than 30 words per item. 7 Entry Guidelines for Category 15 Maintenance Award This category seeks to celebrate successful landscapes outcomes resultant from the maintenance and stewardship of amenity landscapes, including but not limited to: Parklands Schools Commercial facilities Sporting facilities Streetscapes Urban civic spaces Natural areas Residential landscapes Entries shall represent excellence in their field by exhibiting the following criteria: Provides landscape stewardship solutions which comply with or exceed requirements in an innovative and inspiring manner to provide a high quality of landscape condition and amenity Where use, wear or growth over time necessitate, the maintenance staff provide appropriate adaptation of the planting and finishes in a way that maintains the integrity of the landscape quality, purpose, and design intent Demonstrates an exceptional horticultural proficiency Considers the ongoing use of the landscape and minimises disruption to landscape users during maintenance activities For example: Is the site neat and rubbish free; are mulches and soils at appropriate depths; are weeds and pests controlled; are turfed areas mown and edged as appropriate? Are planting densities maintained; i.e. are additional plantings installed and / or are plants thinned as appropriate? Are plantings adapted to accommodate changes in microclimate due to growth of trees? Are successional plantings included to replace plants which become over mature? Are trees and shrubs formatively pruned as appropriate to the landscape style and / or the plants natural form; are trees and shrubs remedially pruned where required? Are hard elements maintained as appropriate to the material; i.e. is timber painted / oiled; are hard surfaces clean of algae / stains? Are systems in place to provide a proactive and ongoing dialogue with the client regarding landscape maintenance management? i.e. auditing of site performance, routine inspection reporting and recommendations to client regarding the prioritisation of works?

8 Entry Guidelines for Category 17 Ecological Rehabilitation Award This category seeks to celebrate projects involving creation, restoration and management of natural areas including but not limited to: Rehabilitation, revegetation and restoration of natural area Natural area creation Ongoing natural area management and maintenance (including fauna and flora) Installation, establishment and management of water sensitive urban design and other stormwater infrastructure such as biobasins, wetlands, lakes etc. Mining and infrastructure offset Entries shall represent excellence in their field by exhibiting the following criteria: Interpretation/management of design solutions which comply with or exceed regulatory requirements in a sensitive, innovative and inspiring manner to provide multiple uses for and enjoyment of the area including for local fauna and flora Maximisation for opportunities for retention, protection and integration of remnant vegetation and/or landform Best practice execution of hard and soft landscape treatments to provide seamless integration in the surrounding context Outstanding maintenance and performance of landscape elements Entry Guidelines for Category 18 Environment & Sustainability Award This category seeks entrants whose residential or commercial project exhibits characteristics of excellence with regards to environmental values or sustainability. Some of the criteria these projects might display are: Creation, sourcing and use of materials that minimise impact on the local and broader environment Innovation and industry best practices in site management that reduce environmental impact and encourage sustainability Interpretation/management of design and/or construction solutions that rare innovative, inspirational or otherwise exceptional in their environmental and sustainability values Enhancement and management of existing fauna and flora so that it is integrated seamlessly into the surrounding landscape and suffers minimal impact Adherence to and/or exceeding of statutory and contractual obligations to achieve an outcome with high environmental and/or sustainability outcomes Support and partnership with local business/economy by using locally sourced materials, trades, labour etc. Advocacy and promotion of environmental and sustainability values to the local community and business community Engaging with local stake holders to community landscape assets that inspire a sense of responsibility and pride

By entering the Awards your business taps into the promotion and prestige surrounding this longstanding and highly regarded event including promotion to consumers and others via the LQ website, publicity through various media outlets and consumer magazines and Awards logos for use in your own marketing initiatives When do entries open? June 2016 When do entries close? Friday 29 July 2016 How old can projects be and still be eligible to enter? - Projects must have been completed after 30 June 2014 How many categories are there? There are 21 categories (including training, maintenance, irrigation, design, landscape feature) most of them eligible for the overall Queensland Residential or Commercial Landscape Construction of the Year Awards Can I enter more than one category? Yes Can I enter the same project into more than one category? - Yes How much does it cost to enter? - $220 for first entry, $198 for second entry and $176 for third and subsequent entries (all prices include GST) How do I enter? Complete an entry form and lodge together with payment, consent forms and high resolution photos of the project on CD to the LQ office by 29 July Entries and photos can be submitted by uploading to Drop box please share the folder with admin@landscapequeensland.com.au one entry per folder clearly noted with contactor name and entry category Why do I need high resolution photos? -These are required to best represent your entry and also for reproduction in various magazines and the professional audio visual presentation at the Awards Gala Dinner Do I have to provide plans & contracts? - Yes, we need to verify the cost of the project and judges require as much information about the project as possible to assist the judging process Who judges the entries? Entries are judged by qualified Landscape Architects who visit each project on site. Entrant information provided to judges is anonymous What are the judges looking for? In addition to how well the project has been constructed (and designed if applicable) tell them what makes this particular job a winner; what elements of the job were especially challenging and 5 reasons why this job is a standout Can I get feedback on my entry? Yes, on completion of the awards program What if my client doesn t want me to enter the project? - Clients consents MUST be received! I am a small contractor can I still enter? Yes, all LQ members large or small are able to enter the awards I have a garden maintenance business can I enter? Yes, there is a category for garden maintenance
