1 Village Green Amenity Memorial Program Rev. 7/26/17
2 About the Program The Village Green Amenity Memorial Program was established for village residents and other members of the public to honor a person, special event or family name by memorializing an amenity in Village Green park. This booklet provides information about the program and the different amenities that are available. Village Green is located at 215 E. Four Mile Rd., just blocks from Lake Michigan and the Wind Point Lighthouse. It was established as Wind Point s central neighborhood park in the mid-1960s. The park s original amenities included a child s play area, tennis courts, baseball diamond, basketball court and skating rink. In 2015, the Village of Wind Point initiated a planning process for a complete update of The Village Green. The Village Board approved a final concept plan for the park renovations on February 11, The plan included an updated playground with modernized, age-specific playground areas; a continuous pathway around the perimeter of the park; a new park pavilion; reconfigured parking to eliminate extra driveways; new tennis court fencing and replacing one tennis court with two pickleball courts; and updated landscaping with new trees around the tennis courts. Along with the improvements, a variety of high-quality benches, picnic tables and trash receptacles are selected for Village Green. The Village Board wished to give residents an opportunity to personalize the park by offering the chance for residents to have engraved name plates affixed to the new park furnishings. By memorializing a park bench, table or receptacle, a commemorative plaque will be placed on the amenity. It will be memorialized for the life of the amenity. 2
3 Commemorative Plaques A customized commemorative plaque is permanently affixed to memorialized park amenities. The back page of this booklet contains an order form that can be used to select an amenity and provide the wording for the plaque. All plaques are black zinc metal with a double coating of clear urethane for added protection. The plaques appear as pictured below with brushed gold raised lettering. 3
