4 Lancaster Farmland Trust LOGO CONCEPTS PRESENTATION 2005 Gecko Group Logo Objectives In developing a new identity program, Lancaster Farmland Trust wants to establish an accurate visual representation of their organization that positions the institution as an established, proactive, caring, thoughtful steward of Lancaster County Farmland, and conveys message themes of future, local, and heritage, that research shows will resonate with their various target audience segments. Graphic Approach Logo A: The overall iconic element plays off the concept of a patchwork quilt incorporating graphic symbols representing land, abundance and farming, that also whisper heritage and hope for future as well. The style of the iconic element mixed with the font selection has a slightly historical feel, lending to communication of heritage The upper and lower case script balanced with all upper case serif in the name provide a sense accessibility and invitation as well as strength and establishment The color selection pairs a warm gray with an earthy orange to, again, convey warmth and accessibility Logo B (version 1): This 2 color logo expresses strength and progressiveness while very clearly communicating Lancaster County, open space and farming through the icon. The serif font is classic giving a sense of strength and heritage with a little movement added in through the treatment in the R in Trust, speaking to the proactiveness of the organization. The recommended colors include a deeper chocolatey-gray paired with a spring-like green. In application across components, a mixed palette of alternate colors paired with the deep gray tone could be explored. Logo B (version 2): This variation on the logo is a little more contemporary treatment of the same concepts as above. The use of the shortened version of the name in a combination of upper and lower case serif, especially leading with lower case, makes this version a little more casual in tone. Logo C This logo icon is inspired more by the land and the future than the heritage and place, instead allowing the name to communicate that The hand-drawn quality of the line work also provides a less formal, authoritative position, and a more neighborly/ casual feel The color combination marries the warm, chocolatey gray color with a bright, golden orange underscoring the caring, thoughtful, hope for the future that the organization represents. The use of the shortened version of the name in a combination of upper and lower case serif, especially leading with lower case, once again, makes this version a little more casual in tone. Brand Communications Campaign Lancaster Farmland Trust Strategic Planning, Brand Analysis & Positioning, Logo, Stationery, Marketing & Development Collateral, Web Site Working from a cllient supplied brand audit report, Gecko Group developed a strategic position platform from which to develop logo design concepts that visually embodies the core strengths of the institution that resonates with their current and prospective constituents in multiple audience segments. The new brand identity was then translated across various marketing collateral components inlcuding brochures, flyers, a newsletter template, as well as a new, more dynamic and content rich web site design that is currently in development and programming.

Its scale proudly announces that you have arrived. Installed in the new plaza entrance of the zoo, it is an integral part of the vision for an enhanced visitor entrance experience - one that welcomes zoo visitors and provides a safe and beautiful area for them to congregate. The sign, which is inspired by the logo, brings the zoo presence out to the street and welcomes visitors in. It will become the backdrop for visitors photos, capturing memories for years to come and will be a landmark for the surrounding neighborhood. The new sign was imagined and designed by Gecko Group, lighting provided by The Lighting Practice, landscaping by Synterra, LTD and fabrication by L&H Signs; all working for prime contractor, Pennoni Associates Inc.
