Neighborhood Summary Journal Square Business District Journal Square is a business district, residential area, and transportation hub in Jersey City, NJ, which takes its name from the newspaper Jersey Journal whose headquarters are located there. The square itself is at the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Bergen Avenues. The broader area extends to and includes Bergen Square, McGinley Square, India Square, the Five Corners and parts of the Marion Section. Many local, state, and federal agencies serving Hudson County maintain offices in the district. Area Attractions The Journal Square Transportation Center, includes the Journal Square PATH and bus station, Shops at PATH Plaza and concourse and is the headquarters of the Port Authority Trans-Hudson. The campus of Hudson County Community College is a collection of buildings throughout the district around the square. A few blocks to the south near McGinley Square, are Saint Peter s College, Hudson Catholic Regional High School, and the Jersey City Armory. Other notable sites include the Afro-American Historical Society Museum, New Jersey City University, Stanley Theater and Hudson County Courthouse. Development The planned megaproject One Journal Square complex would combine rental housing, multi-story retail and parking in 68 story and 50 story residential towers above a 7-story retail and parking base with a rooftop terrace. The site, one block away from the subject property, has been cleared and construction is set to begin. Ironstate Development received a $28.3 million tax credit to build a $162.6 million 500-unit apartment development in Jersey City and BNE Real Estate is constructing a 139-unit rental building.
