Projects Completed FY14, FY15 and FY16 (arranged alphabetically) Abrams Planetarium Install automatic door opener on main doors of the Planetarium. Completed: Summer 2016 Cost: $13,000 Akers Hall Renovations to the food service areas and installation of new life safety equipment throughout the building. Project will improve accessibility within the hall, public restrooms, and will provide a new elevators to enable accessibility to the dining hall. All new food service operation will greatly enhance accessibility in dining operations. Completed: January 2015 (Food Service Areas) August 2014 (Residential Areas) Cost: $20.6 million (total Akers Hall project cost) Bessey Hall Bike Shop Site improvements including widening and re-sloping concrete ramp to accommodate pedestrian/wheelchair traffic as well as display of bikes and tire pump area. Install new railing system at the stairs and elevated concrete slabs. Replace existing doors with larger doors swinging opposite the ramp, and install automatic door opener. Install light kits in the doors for improved visibility. Completed: December 2015 Cost: $80,000 Bessey Hall 3 rd Floor Classroom Wing Renovated classrooms and corridor on the 3 rd floor of Bessey Hall. Variety of accessible seating provided in classrooms and corridors. Accessible drinking fountain and bottle filling station installed on the floor as well. Completed: Fall 2014 Cost: $1.5 Million (Total project cost) Business College Complex Install automatic door opener to vestibule doors outside of room N130. Butterfield Hall Renovations to the building to enhance and update infrastructure, improve accessible entrances and accessibility within the hall, public and community restrooms, way finding and upgrades to life safety systems. Modify site to include grade level entry at all main entrances, provide heated sidewalk to accessible parking. Completed: August 2014 Cost: $16 Million (total Butterfield Hall project cost) Chittenden Hall Modify site to provide outdoor terrace with ramped/grade level entry to the building, automated entry door from ramp, snow melt system to accessible parking, install elevator for access to all levels, provide barrier-free toilet rooms, ADA signage. Completed: October 2014 Cost: $6.2 Million (total Chittenden Hall project cost) Demonstration Hall: Renovate and expand restrooms in the Arena for barrier-free access. Install automatic door opener. Completed: August 2016 Cost: $200,000 Giltner Hall Install automatic door opener to doors on the North Side of Giltner Hall. Completed: Fall 2016 Cost: $16,000 Holmes Hall Renovated two accessible student room restroom suites, providing new finishes, fixtures and lighting. Completed: Summer 2014 Cost: $80,000 Kresge Courtyard Project Site renovation of Kresge Courtyard into an accessible venue for Summer Circle Theater and other events. Stage and two out of three seating tiers are accessible. Grade level ramps provided. Contrasting material colors were used throughout the design. Landon Hall Renovations to the building to enhance and update infrastructure, improve accessible entrances and accessibility within the hall, public restrooms, two new elevators to enable lower level accessibility, new ramp at NE entrance to increase accessibility of building. All new food service operation will greatly enhance accessibility in dining operations. Completed: August 2014 Cost: $18.7 Million (total Landon Hall project cost) MSU River Trail Construction of dedicated bicycle and pedestrian pathway extending along the south side of the Red Cedar River from Kalamazoo Street at the Spartan statue to Farm Lane. Completed: Summer 2014 Cost: $670,000 Munn Ice Arena Improvements include replacement of all bench seating with a combination of chair/bench seats; addition of six ADA platforms; install railings in all aisle ways. Completed: September 2015 Cost: $900,000 (Total Munn Ice Arena project cost) Music Practice Building Install automatic door opener and changed double doors to a single entry door. Completed: Winter 2016 Cost: $ 35,000 Spartan Stadium North End Zone Addition to the north end of the stadium includes new home and visiting team locker rooms; equipment areas; training rooms and coaches locker rooms; media center; restroom facilities on concourse level, including family restrooms; new Engagement Center; expanded entry plazas. Spartan Stadium Student Seating Section SE Corner of Bowl Construction of an accessible seating platform integral to the student seating section in the SE Corner of Stadium Bowl with 20 wheelchair locations and additional companion seating. Additionally, entrances to the student sections have been updated to meet accessibility standards. Completed: August 2015 Cost: $850,000 (Total Spartan Stadium project cost) Trout Food Science Building Install automatic door opener to the exterior door at the rear of the building. Install magnet hold-opens on three interior doors. Completed: Summer 2016 Cost: $15,000 Various Buildings Auto Door Sensors Modify location, height and/or orientation of the automatic door sensors at entrances to various buildings on campus. Current installations comply with ADAG code, however do not meet MSU Construction Standards for installation and thereby limit accessibility. Completed: January 2013 / October 2014 Cost: $26,000 Veterinary Medical Center Install automatic door opener to the entrance of the G-Wing (closest to classroom G150). Completed: Summer 2016 Cost: $15,000 Wilson Hall Renovated two accessible student room restroom suites, providing new finishes, fixtures and lighting. Status: In progress Estimated Cost: $360,000 Breslin Center Barrier-free stalls and fixtures added to existing north and south restrooms. New single occupancy toilet rooms added. Barrier free entry and exit corridors to and from all public restrooms. New Concession stands designed to be accessible. New barrier-free ramp created at the north end of the site. Power assisted doors added. Upgrades to current lighting meet standards for ADA visibility requirements. Status: In progress (scheduled to be complete Oct 2017) Cost: $50 Million (total project cost) Jenison Install automatic door opener to women s locker room.
