Hot and Cold Weather Repairs Read entire manual prior to performing repairs! Remember to rinse insert with denatured alcohol after each repair to clean resin off insert. Insert needs to be dry when contacting glass to eliminate air-resin exchange and to facilitate moisture removal from damage. Use eyedropper included with your tool. DISCLAIMER: Glass Pro Systems, its principals, and suppliers are not responsible for damages resulting from misuse of this product. Read all instructions, use eye protection and wear protective clothing and gloves for those allergic to repair resin. 2

Introduction Glass Pro Systems has been providing the most advanced windshield repair tool on the market. Our original Cinch tool is far more advanced than other systems in that the damage is allowed to evacuate the natural air-pressure and moisture from the break before the resin pool is on the glass. Glass Pro Systems is now evolving using the Super Cinch, which simplifies the repair unit and actually forces the operator to follow the right series of steps to error proof the repair process while making the repair unit easy to use. This manual will point out the parts of the Super Cinch and how to operate the unit properly and cleaning instructions. Windshield damage is like fingerprints. Although quite similar, all damage is slightly different and that is why there isn t always a set way to do every repair the same. The Super Cinch tool supplies a basic method to start repairs in a systematic way, yet allows the operator to vary the pressure and secondary vacuum as needed to facilitate perfect repairs time and time again. You will find your repair quality will become far better than what you expect than using ordinary wet vacuum injectors. You will be able to quickly move to your next repair and repeat great looking and strong repairs far better than any wet vacuum injector can provide. Your new Super Cinch will enable you to make far more money than you ever thought possible while amazing your customers with extremely high quality repairs. 3

Figure 1. Parts of the Super Cinch 1. Bridge (red) or (Blue) has three rubber suction cups, a swivel end, which can house Super Cinch unit when switched from center position. Bridge has a threaded hole in rear of bridge for placing the adjuster screw for operations on crack repair and edge repair. 2. Injector body with piston, shown (gold). Production model will be (red). 3. Valve body of Super Cinch shown (silver) will be (blue) with a modified Woods pump. Note the equalizer valve on valve body. This is used after the repair to flood repair unit with air to relieve pressure on o-rings. 4

Figure 2. Prepare injector for loading with resin. Piston knob is backed off three and one half turns. The injector will hold approximately ten drops of resin but only two to three drops are actually used for a repair. Repair resin not used remains in injector to be used later. The Cinch and Super Cinch tools use far less resin per repair than ordinary repair tools saving you money! Resin can stay inside injector from one repair to the next. It is advisable to remove resin before long storage of tool by simply opening a resin bottle and placing injector tip into bottle and turning piston knob until all resin is removed. 5

Figure 3. Loading resin into injector with needle cap bottle. Insert needle cap of resin bottle or syringe loaded with resin into injector end and fill. Do this while cradling injector with a paper towel to catch any spilled resin. Place index finger over injector tip and turn piston knob to purge air from injector. Piston should have a very solid feel to it when all air is gone. Turn piston knob slightly counter-clockwise to hold resin in place. Any grade of resin will hold in injector without dripping out. 6

Figure 4. Connecting valve body to bridge. Pick up valve body and turn it into center hole of bridge for normal repairs. Turn it in clock-wise two full turns. If using outer position of bridge thread it into swivel end piece, and place outer nut to center position and install suction cup. Bridge always needs three suction cups to perform a repair. Note the swivel end of bridge. This swivel end can be used to angle down or up depending on what you need. The Super Cinch Bridge can negotiate any curvature of the glass regardless of how much of an angle there is. The Cinch or Super Cinch can operate at any angle, so vertical repairs are accomplished just as easily as a normal repair. 7

Figure 5. Turn valve body to glass after aligning damage by looking down valve body opening to center of pit. Turn valve body down clock-wise until insert just contacts glass plus about ½ turn. Tighten hold down nut by hand to keep valve body from spinning around. 8

Figure 6. Place loaded injector into valve body. Loaded injector is now placed gently into valve body. Do not drop injector into place, this could dislodge resin to the damaged area. There is a mark on injector, which aligns with front of valve body. Once these lines are lined up, turn injector three turns to vacuum line. Now the unit can enable a vacuum to be created. 9

Figure 7. Pressing pump to create vacuum. The thumb is placed on the modified Woods pump top and pressed up to ten times. Note the red line on depressor. When a vacuum is in place, the red line will stay down near valve body shown next page. Five presses on pump generate 25 inches in vacuum, ten pumps produce 27 plus inches of vacuum. 10

Figure 8. Super Cinch holding the vacuum created. The indicator or red line will stay in this position when a vacuum is in place. If red line rises vacuum is being lost. When vacuum stays in place, red line will remain down. This indicator replaces the vacuum gauge. It has been shown in tests the vacuum will range from 25 to over 27 inches of vacuum with five to ten presses on thumb depressor, depending on atmospheric pressure of your location. Once this vacuum is enabled, allow vacuum to hold over damage for at least one minute. After vacuum is held over damage for at least one minute, turn down injector to bottom of travel, then turn piston knob until you feel slight pressure, back off slightly and re- 11

apply pressure. Allow damage to fill to edge for bullseyes and back up piston knob four turns. This causes a strong secondary vacuum within the resin and will degas any remaining air from damage. After the secondary has pulled micro air bubbles from resin, simply turn piston down until pressure is felt again. You may cycle the secondary as often as you like, but usually only two cycles are needed to completely degas the resin. Allow damage to completely fill and this is the point in time when you can cure repair under pressure. Pressure curing is recommended for any damage larger than the diameter of your insert seal, or a star break with points out further than insert. The main reason for pressure curing damage is when a liquid cures and turns hard or polymerization occurs, a slight amount of shrinkage occurs. Pressure curing allows resin to keep edges of bulls-eyes and points of a star filled during this transition. Glass Pro Systems resin only shrinks approximately 2%. Review: 1. Make sure hold down nut is at highest level before placing valve body into bridge. 2. Align pit looking down valve body and secure suction cups making sure pit remains aligned with insert seal end. 3. Load injector by inserting needle cap or syringe and fill injector until air is purged out. Place finger over injector tip and turn piston knob making sure piston feels solid. Slightly turn injector counter-clockwise to hold resin in injector. 12

4. Place injector gently into valve body aligning timing marks and turning injector three turns. This brings injector to vacuum line enabling a vacuum to be created. 5. Pushing on thumb depressor of Woods pump, quickly press five to ten times making sure red indicator line remains at or near valve body. This indicates Super Cinch is maintaining the vacuum. If vacuum is lost try turning insert seal down to glass slightly more. 6. Allow vacuum to hold over damage for at least one minute. 7. Turn injector down until at lowest point of travel. If doing a star break watch legs of the star. If legs of star seem to grow larger stop lowering injector and inject resin at that point with light pressure, back off piston knob slightly and re-apply pressure. You will now see rapid filling of damage. 8. When damage is filled to edge of the bulls-eye, back off piston knob four turns. This causes a strong secondary vacuum in the resin effectively degassing the resin further. 9. Turn piston knob down until pressure is felt again, inspect damage to make sure damage is completely filled. 10. Pressure cure damage when break is larger than insert seal. Pressure cure using just enough pressure to keep damaged completely filled. Only light pressure is needed. Use curing lamp along side Bridge for about one minute to start setting resin in damage. Remove tool from glass using a scribe to release suction cups. (Always)! 13

If filling star break damage or combination break damage, allow damage to fill just about to tips of legs of break and then back off piston knob. You will now see the slight amount of air filtering back up to injector. Allow secondary vacuum to remain for about one minute, then turn piston back down to complete filling. Pressure cure and remove repair tool, cover damage immediately with Mylar square and cure damage right away. Cure damage for at least three minutes. It is recommended to use a curing lamp for all repairs, even in summer time as our curing lamp has more intense Ultra-violet light than normal sunshine. In winter the angle of the sun is too weak for curing of resin using sunshine. It is always best to use a strong curing lamp. 4 watt curing lamps cannot cure resin anymore than the sunshine can. See picture below to equalize air-pressure within tool. 14

Equalizer valve shown Equalizer Valve: Is used to flood air back into unit to take pressure off o- rings. The depressor of the Woods pump will pop back up to its starting point at this time. Remove the injector and place in your box with tip of injector out of sunlight to avoid setting up of resin in injector tip. Use an eyedropper provided with tool with denatured alcohol to drip about one half of an eyedropper down valve body to rinse off insert. Hold valve body with paper towel coving insert seal end and drip denatured alcohol down valve body to rinse resin off insert seal, gently puff air down valve body and set aside valve body to dry. Now the Super Cinch is ready for its next repair. 15

Pressing equalizer valve to equalize air pressure What damage to drill? The only times you need to drill damage is when you are working on an angel wing break, or a bulls-eye without any opening, a star break or a combination break, or to repair a cracked windshield. I also recommend drilling for any damage that needs to be dried using a moisture evaporator to allow quicker relief from pressure building to avoid cracking out damage. 16

After drilling damage needing to be drilled, use the heavy duty sewing needle provided in kit and a four inch long, one inch wide and ¼ inch thick piece of Plexiglas swung with a four inch swing to provide a shock to damage. This shock causes the small cracks in a star or combination break to open up slightly making fills easier. With the Super Cinch or Cinch tools I never use a drill bit with a larger diameter than.022. The main reason for this is that, using the Super Cinch or Cinch tool only need a very small hole to evacuate damage. The resin after many months of exposure to the elements does deteriorate some and if you had drilled a large hole at pit, in time the pit area will have a large depression in the glass. Drilling a very small hole in the glass allows for the repair to look better longer. Cleaning and Care of the Super Cinch tool Very little cleaning of the Super Cinch or Cinch is required. Some tools on the market need extensive cleaning daily to operate as intended. The Super Cinch can go for weeks without a cleaning. It is operating procedure to drip some denatured alcohol down the valve body to wash off the insert after each repair, and the only cleaning is wiping off the threaded areas periodically. If the Super Cinch isn t to be used for an extended period of time, it is necessary to remove the resin inside 17

the injector and wipe off the piston. Once wiped off the Super Cinch can be stored indefinitely. Before using the tool when it is new, or after an extended time of non-use, simply place a small drop of resin on the o-rings of the piston and injector seals to lubricate them. The parts of the Super Cinch are made from aluminum and cannot withstand extended periods of time exposed to resin. Resin contains acrylic acid and aluminum is a reactive metal. The anodizing protects the aluminum from brief periods of time exposed to repair resin. Note! Never attempt to replace o-rings with any other kind of o-rings than what is provided. Black rubber o- rings are attacked by repair resin and will make unit hard to operate or jam the repair unit. Avoid dropping the repair unit. The Super Cinch is very durable and short drops should not damage it. For assistance call customer service at 1-800-395-7380 Vacuum over the resin isn t capable of removing moisture. This is why is it important to evacuate damage without resin on the damage. To be effective removing moisture vacuum levels of over 20 inches are needed without resin blockage. 18
