RULES AND REGULATIONS Infringement of any of the following points may result in disqualification. 1. There must be a minimum of three (3) exhibits before a second placing can be awarded. 2. A Judge may withhold first prize where he/she considers entries not worthy of such award and may award second place only, or as the situation permits. 3. If only one (1) exhibit in a class, this exhibit will be transferred to a Miscellaneous Class. 4. All exhibits in the Roses, Gerberas, Cut Flowers and Orchid sections must be grown by the exhibitor or family, NOT commercially grown. 5. Pot Culture exhibits including Orchids, must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for at least three (3) months prior to the Show. 6. Pot Culture and Orchids exhibits must be attractively presented in plain, clean, presentable pots or containers (not double container), suitable for exhibition. Plants must be free of oils, etc and should be well furnished with leaves, fresh and free of insect infestation, disease or blemishes. Soil should be one (1) inch from the top of the pot. Plants should be in centre of pot. Inconspicuous corner trimmage of leaves and trimming of dead tips is permitted. Pots must be no more than 200 mm (8 inches) in diameter and baskets are to be no more than 250 mm (10 inches) in diameter NOTE: NO NAME TAGS ADVERTISING THE GROWER IS ALLOWED 7. No rocks or pebbles are allowed in pot cultures to enhance presentation. Also no wiring or support for Cut Flowers will be permitted until after judging. Judging Criteria 1. Leaf 2. Character 3. Freshness 4. Balance 5. Free of insect infestation and disease 6. Clean Containers 7. All reasonable care will be taken against Damage 8. 'The Mackay Show Association' will accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to/of exhibits. 9. All entries must be collected at Pavilion 2, Mackay Showgrounds Thursday 21 st June 4.00pm to 5.00pm (strictly no vehicle entry before 4.00pm) or Friday 22 nd June 8.00am to **all unclaimed exhibits will go to charity** 10. Any exhibit/s found to be diseased or infected will be disqualified by the Chief Steward. 11. All fruit and vegetables must be grown by the exhibitor. 12. The following guidelines apply to Roses, Gerberas, and Cut Flowers. Foliage, natural to blooms exhibited should not be removed. Containers will be supplied by Stewards Judging Criteria 1. Perfection of flowers 2. Straightness of stems 3. Freshness 4. Free from insect infestation Collections Class is also judged upon 1. Quality (not Quantity) 2. Freshness 3. Variety 4. Collections classes of flowers not allowed for Champion 13. The following guidelines apply to Produce Vegetables, Produce Fruit and Rare Fruit. All vegetables will be judged together, organically grown or otherwise. It is the end product that is exhibited and placed on the bench to be judged. Fruit and vegetables are to be clean and fresh with only the number listed in the schedule exhibited. Lettuce is to be exhibited with the root left on, so to keep it fresh for four (4) days.
