Seal Sentry Series 10 Bead Detection System Safety WARNING: Allow only qualified personnel to perform the procedures described in this manual. WARNING: Turn off the system power switch and disconnect the power cord from the power source before disassembling the unit for service. WARNING: The system must be properly grounded and fused according to its rated consumption. Refer to the ID plate on the bottom of the control unit. System Overview (contd.) Photo Trigger Trigger must be set to activate during bead detection process. Trigger must be set to activate on the next product AFTER the last bead passes under the bead sensor. Installation must not provide more than one trigger signal per product. Programming for a New Adhesive Pattern Dynamic Calibration 1. Start production line and adjust bead size and placement to desired specifications. Product Flow 5739281A 2. Turn the system power switch ON. System is in IDLE mode. 50% light blinks. 5739272A 3. Press RUN/IDLE key for 5 products or 2 seconds. Release RUN/IDLE key. Percentage lights will increase to 50%. 4. Press RUN/IDLE key to place system in run mode. 5739263A RUN light will be ON. System is dynamically calibrated for standard bead size. All sensors are set to 50% fault level. Changing Fault Threshold 1. Press ALARM key for 2 seconds. System can either be in RUN or IDLE mode. Active bead sensor light is ON. 2. Press RUN/IDLE key to select the desired threshold level. Repeat STEP 2 to select the desired threshold level for the new bead sensor. Repeat until all bead sensor thresholds are set to their desired level. 4. Operation Daily Operation 1. When inspection is not required, press RUN/IDLE key to deactivate system. IDLE 5739274A 2. When inspection is required, press RUN/IDLE key to activate system. ACTIVE 5739275A 3. For maintenance, turn system power OFF. 5739272A General Maintenance Clean bead sensor lens with mild agent once every day/shift or as required. Clean 5739282A General Operation Characteristics of the Control Unit After the system main power has been cycled OFF/ON, when system power is restored and the RUN/IDLE key is pressed to activate the system: The control unit will automatically perform dynamic calibration. The control unit will automatically reset the fault threshold levels to 50%. If required, repeat the fault threshold setup procedure. Refer to Changing Fault Threshold, Programming Section. Troubleshooting Use the following guidelines to identify any problems that occur during operation. Problem Possible Cause Corrective Action 1. No LED Reading Blown fuse Damaged cable Faulty sensor Replace. 2. No product inspection System not in RUN mode Verify that Button 1 (RUN/IDLE) is in RUN position. 3. No/erratic product detection Trigger sensor not functioning properly Sensitivity settings on trigger too high Trigger not mounted securely Sensitivity adjustment on trigger not set to proper setting. Increase or decrease as required. Inspect and clean. If sensor is damaged, replace. Check PIN outputs to verify sensor operation and fault readouts. Lower sensitivity setting.
