15 Water Quality & Hygiene Its in the water Bacteria: One celled micro-organisms, that can be found all over: in water, in air, and our surroundings etc. Typical size between 0,2 µm and 50 µm. They can be spherical-, stick- or spiral-formed. Bacteria needs nutrient to be able to multiply. Nutrients can come from carbon, light, nutrients content in water etc.. Some bacteria can double in 20 minutes under optimal conditions.
