9 WARNING, BLOCKING AND MALFUNCTION MESSAGES The Atmos CombinAir has three types of error messages: 1. Warning messages In this case, instead of the status message, a letter appears on the status for one second, once every 5 seconds. 2. Blocking messages A permanently illuminated letter appears on the status. 3. Malfunction messages A flashing letter or number appears on the status. In the event of a warning message, the function to which the message applies will be switched off while the appliance continues to operate. In the event of a malfunction message, the entire appliance will be shut down requiring manually resetting before the boiler will continue operation. OPERATING CODES ON THE ATMOS COMBINAIR Status code Function 1 Hot water heating operating 2 Central heating operating No dot No burner Slow flashing dot Minimum fire Increasingly fast flashing dot Higher & higher firing Constant dot Burner on maximum output SUMMARY OF MESSAGES This section provides a brief description of the warning, blocking and malfunction messages which appear on the unit s status. The causes of these messages are addressed in more detail in section 5. Warning messages A warning is identified by a letter that appears on the status every 5 seconds for a period of 1 second, instead of the status message. Warning message in status Diagnosis every 5 seconds b Incorrect DHW reading; value <-10 or > 118 C c Incorrect CH water pressure; value between 0 and 0,5 bar or 3 and 9 bar (capacity is limited to low setting d Incorrect CH return sensor reading; value <-10 or > 118 C h Incorrect outside sensor reading (WDC); <-10 or > 118 C

10 Blocking messages A blocking is an error that occurs without causing a malfunction. The unit waits until the blocking has been resolved and then continues to operate normally. A blocking is indicated by a permanently lit letter on the status. The sensor value for the sensor that the blocking message refers to, can be ed in the CH water by accessing the submenu sensor values in the installer program. Status code c CH water HH LL Diagnosis CH flow temperature sensor error; > 118 C CH flow temperature sensor error; < -10 C C CH water pressure lower than 1 bar F Mains frequency error H Internal error (control unit) L Electrical mains plug error correct supply polarity n Mains or reference voltage too low HH Appliance type recognition error; value > 118 C LL Appliance type recognition error; value < -10 C 10 Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to 24/80 11 Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to 24/ Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to 32/80 t 21 Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to 32/ Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to 30/ Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to 38/ Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to Combipact 50 Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to CombinAir 60 Appliance type recognition error; control unit is set to CombinAirCool Malfunction messages A malfunction is an error which is so serious that the unit is locked. A malfunction message is identified by a locked control unit accompanied by a flashing number or letter on the status. The appliance can only be unlocked by pressing the reset button. Status code CH water Diagnosis 1 Blocking for longer than one hour 2 Fan defective (5 Hz deviation per minute) 3 Incorrect ionisation (flame) signal 3. No ionisation (flame) signal during start-up procedure 4 Ionisation signal absent during heat supply 4. Ionisation signal remains present after heat supply 6 Gas valve control defective 7 Insufficient flow of CH water during DHW demand 7. Insufficient flow of CH water during CH demand 8 Maximum thermostat cuts out and CH water pressure was < 0,5 bar 9 Maximum thermostat cuts out and CH flow sensor was > 80 C 9. Safety internal malfunction in control unit Letter Internal malfunction in control unit (Dark ) Appliance receiving no mains power

11 CAUSES OF MESSAGES Warning messages A warning is identified by a letter that appears on the status every 5 seconds for a period of 1 second, instead of the status message. The appliance continues to operate, but the function to which the message applies will be switched off or ignored. Once the cause of the warning message has been solved, the appliance will start up again automatically so resetting is not necessary. The possible causes are described below in order of probability. Also look for the malfunction in this order. The sensor value for the sensor that the warning message refers to, can be ed in the CH water by accessing the submenu sensor values in the installer program. Message Diagnosis in status every 5 seconds b DHW temperature < -10 or > 118 C. In sub-menu sensor values the message HH (> 118 C) or LL (< - 10 C) appears on the CH water c CH water pressure too low or too high. Whilst this is the case the output will be limited to the lowest capacity. If the current CH water pressure is not shown on the CH water the current CH water pressure can be read through the sub-menu sensor values. d CH return temperature < -10 C or > 118 C. In the sub-menu sensor values HH (> 118 C) or LL (< - 10 C) will appear on the CH water h Outside temperature < -10 C or > 118 C. In the sub-menu sensor values HH (> 118 C) or LL (< - 10 C) will appear on the CH water (only WDC) CH water Cause HH CH temperature > 118 C Connector K4 loose or improperly connected Temperature sensor wiring interrupted. For the sensor wiring connection to connector K4 see the diagram in the appendix. Sensor defective LL CH temperature < -10 C Short circuit in temperature wiring Sensor defective 0 0,5 Bar 3 9 Bar CH system lacking water pressure Leak in the appliance or CH system CH pressure sensor defective confirmed by pressure reading remaining unchanged when filling the system wiring from pressure sensor to connector K2 defective or bad connection CH system water over pressurised (but PRV should discharge when pressure > 3 bar) Wiring from pressure sensor to connector K2 defective or bad connection CH pressure sensor defective confirmed by pressure reading remaining unchanged when water is discharged HH See cause of HH for warning code b. 12 Blocking messages A blocking message is identified by a permanently illuminated letter on the status. Once the blocking has been solved, the appliance will start up again automatically. So resetting is not necessary. The possible causes are described below in order of probability. Also look for the malfunction in this order. Status CH water Diagnoses c HH CH flow temperature > 118 C. The boiler cannot support the heat pump with the result that the dwelling is not or insufficiently heated. This may be caused by air in the system or it can be caused by a software error in the control unit of the heat pump. Communication problem between the heat pump and gas boiler. Without communications there will be no heat delivered because the position of the mixing valve is unclear. Check the connection of the data cable. Mix temperature imbalance. This will probably be caused by air in the system. CC 04 This code means that there is heat demand, but the CombinAir cannot transfer the heat to the installation. This is due to the fact that (part) of the installation is equipped with thermostatic radiator valves that are closed and that no bypass is installed, or is not open. Malfunction messages A malfunction message is indicated by a flashing number or letter on the status combined with a locked control unit. Once the malfunction is solved, the control unit must be unlocked by pressing the reset button once. Should the control unit fail to unlock, try again after approximately 20 seconds. Also look for the malfunction in this order.
