With a capacity of 9 kw to 2,000 kw per cooler, fluids can be cooled in the temperature range between plus 25 C (can also be higher in conjunction with plate heat exchangers) and -15 C. The optional heat pump function configurable for alternating cooling or heating requirements as well as for use with the acr drycooler units for free cooling. The air-cooled acr rental fluid chillers can be applied in all areas where liquids are to be cooled. The areas of application are manifold: For example, the units are used in building air-conditioning, production processes, test setups, medical technology, pharmaceuticals, food processing, beverage industry, chemical industry, plastics industry, ice rinks, and in many other areas. The installation and integration is very simple: The air-cooled chillers in the acr rental park are designed for outdoor installation and can be installed on any viable ground. After connecting the pre-configured flexible hoses and the power cabling the mobile refrigeration unit can go into operation.

Optionally the acr drycoolers can be configured to provide free cooling. Cooling (heat dissipation of the condenser heat) is achieved via an existing cooling system, or alternatively through an acr rental wet or drycooler. The maximum steam production is about 180kg/h per device and can vary continuously between 0 and 100%. According to the application, the devices can be used as direct or indirect room air moistening in the ventilation and air-conditioning system. With a steam distribution pipe, humidification processes in laboratory or production applications can be realized. The mobile acr air humidifiers are in all areas of application, in which an exact humidity level is required. The chillers are suitable for the unrestricted operation at 35 C outside temperature and operate in the capacity restricted mode in ambient temperatures up to 50 C. For use in lower ambient temperatures, the cold water chillers equipped with variable speed ventilators and vaporizer heating are suitable. In this way operation is possible at lower temperatures. At extremely low ambient temperatures and particular locations as well as when light cooling loads prevail, additional measures must be taken. Application area of air cooled chillers The sound values of the acr rental machines are specified at a distance of 5m. How much does the sound value decrease when the distance is doubled to 10m? Generally the sound pressure level is specified according to ISO 3744 in a hemispherical field at 1m distance. As a rule of thumb, the sound pressure is reduced by about 4 db(a) when the distance is doubled. For example a sound pressure level specification of 66dB(A) at 5m distance equates to a sound pressure level of about 62dB(A) at 10 meters, and at 20m about 58dB(A) and so on. FAQ

147 FAQ - Refrigeration Machine basics: Wherein do air cooled and water cooled chillers differ? Air cooled chillers (fluid cooler) distinguish themselves through their compact design and are available in a capacity range of 5 2,000kW. The refrigerant has a direct heat transition to the air and therefore the liquefaction of the refrigerant is directly passed through to the environment. Water cooled chillers are more efficient, however through an external drycooler unit they are also substantially more expensive and costlier to install. In the rental segment, the cooling capacity range is between 5 and 4,500kW per unit. 147 What is the difference between Scroll- and screw compressors? Because the compressor is an especially important part of a refrigeration unit, this question will be answered especially in detail. According to requirements and capacity range, scroll-, screw or centrifugal compressors are implemented. Scroll compressors are implemented in a capacity range of 5 100kW cooling capacity and are fully hermetically sealed. Several compressors can be used together in a refrigeration circuit. In this way capacity ranges of up to 600kW and more can be reached by the so-called Multiscroll units. The compression of the refrigerant is achieved by the orbital path of a moving spiral in a fixed spiral at about 2900 RPM at 50Hz. Fully hermetically sealed scroll compreessor (Danfoss) The current power adjustment herewith takes place by activating and deactivating individual compressors. In following example, four compressors provide for 100% cooling capacity. In the case of 85% loading, three compressors are continuously in operation and the fourth is engaged or disengaged as needed. At a specified actual current volume and the tube diameter used, a more exact value can be calculated. The pressure loss chart serves as a guideline for the medium water in a tube length of 10m at room temperature. At temperatures below 4 C, the addition of an antifreeze is required. It has to be taken into consideration that this leads to an increased pressure loss. For longer tube connections, the values can be added up proportionally. Often the pump modules replace the integrated chiller replacements pumps, if the pressure losses are too high for the standard pumps based on the line lengths and less all other loads. In which variants are the pump modules available? The pumps are mounted as single or double pumps on a sturdy steel frame. Also attached is a control cabinet with all the electrical switching components. Extensive optional accessories such as three way valves, changeover valves, frequency converter, expansion tank, actuators, sound attenuation and weatherproof housing is available. 159 For which temperature ranges and in which capacity classes can the pumps be delivered? The capacity range of the pump modules extend from 2 m³/h up to 450m³/h and a pressure head up to 50m. Modules can be delivered for medium temperatures from minus 45 up to plus 120 C. Higher capacities and other temperature ranges can be provided upon request. How can the pump flow rate be adjusted? Dependent on the pump type, there are various possibilities. The acr standard pumps use either a throttling or Bypass control. The throttle regulation is installed on the pressure side between the pump and load. Through the throttling of the pump, the system resistance is increased and runs the pump with same rotation speed in diminished volume current and slighter clamp achievement. In a two way throttle valve, a differential pressure controlled bypass valve is to be installed, in order to guarantee that when the throttle is fully closed that a sufficient flow volume is still achieved over the vaporizer. 162 FAQ - Accessories and integration Flow detector: Which flow detectors are available from acr and how are these installed? 162 Flow detectors are installed in the cold water pipes in order to monitor the vaporizer flow rate and avoid a dry running pump or freezing of the vaporizer. The paddle flow detectors are integrated directly into the piping. The length of the paddle is adapted to the pipe dimension. Subsequently the sensitivity of the flow switch is set. The digital flow detector is the high-value and more meaningful flow detector variant. A branching line with a diameter of 6-10mm is connected to the differential pressure measuring instrument at one of the measurement locations (for example the vaporizer inlet or outlet). The pressure changes cause resistance changes and this is indicated by the integrated electronics. The smaller machines are equipped with a CEE connector and can be quickly and simply connected together. The CEE connectors are available in the sizes 16A, 32A, 63A and 125A. The style and the contacts are designed so that only the same sizes can be interconnected. CEE connector 163 Dependent on the machine size and the integrated main switch, wire end sleeves are used. In order to protect the stripped cable ends and to produce a flawless electrical contact, the end sleeves are placed over the cable ends and crimped with a special pair of pliers. The cable terminals are connected to the conductor similarly to the wire end sleeves by way of a positive locking device. The cable terminals used are from 10mm² to 240mm². The contact and/or the connection between the clamp and the cable shoe results through the security of a metric screw. Refrigerants are marked by a R (Refrigerant) and a three-digit number. Refrigerants are different in that the physical characteristics e.g. the enthalpy of vaporization, the volumetric cooling capacity and its pressure ratio, in its chemical characteristics such as corrosiveness, combustibility and the ecological characteristics such as the ozone damaging potential as well as the global warming potential. Under which conditions is the use of a heat transfer medium in the system necessary and why? Heat transfer medium (antifreeze) prevents the freezing of water and prevents frost damage. Usually Monoethylen- as well as Propylenglykol are used. -> Glykol is used at water discharge temperatures 4 C. -> When using Glykol the flow quantity must be increased by about 10% so that the t (temperature difference) remains the same. -> At a Glykol content of 30% the system pressure loss is increased by about 20%.
