Do not install on voltages higher than 30V C. ll wiring must conform to local and national building and electrical codes and ordinances. Do not short (jumper) across terminals on the gas valve or at the system control to test installation. his will damage the thermostat and void the warranty. Place thermostat against the wall at desired location. ake sure wires will feed through opening on base of thermostat. Figure 2 4. ark placement of mounting holes (Figure 3). et base aside. Drill the marked holes using a 3/16 drill bit. 6. ap plastic anchors into the holes. 7. lign base with plastic anchors and feed wires through opening. 8. ecure base to wall with supplied screws. 9. Connect wires to proper terminal screws. efer to wiring diagrams on other side of this sheet. ake sure wire connections are secure. 10. et the adjustable heat anticipator as outlined in the next section IN NICIP. For millivolt applications, set anticipator to highest setting. 11. Place fan option jumper plug to (gas) or (electric) position depending on heating system. 12. eplace cover on thermostat by snapping into place. 13. urn on power to system. est thermostat as described in the following section. PUP PPLICIN For single stage heat pump applications (no auxiliary or emergency heat), install a short jumper across and terminals and make sure the jumper plug is in the position. Connect the reversing valve wire to the terminal if the reversing valve is energized in the cooling mode. If the reversing valve is energized in the heating mode, connect the wire to the terminal. DUL NF PPLICIN hen two transformers are being used, remove the factory installed jumper between h and c. 3

4 PPLICIN o power a damper motor or auxiliary circuit that requires continuous power, and terminals are provided. (For example, the damper needs to be opened whenever the thermostat is being used for cooling.) hen the system switch is in the cool position, the terminal is energized. For replacement installations, match the anticipator setting with that of the thermostat being replaced. 2. atch current draw (amperage) of the heating control or relay. his can be done by checking the rating label on the control within the heating system. If the label cannot be found, the circuit amperage can be determined as follows: a. urn -FF-CL switch to FF, or set temperature to lowest setting so that the contacts are open. b. et an C ammeter to the 0 to 1 amperage range. Place probes on and terminals..3 n heating only models probe both wires. n models with a positive off lever, make sure the lever is in the FF position. he heating valve or relay must then turn N and a reading will appear on the meter. Figure 4 c. et the heat anticipator to the meter reading. his is the normal setting. 3. he anticipator adjustment must be made so that the thermostat is in balance with the rest of the system. It will determine how often the system turns on and off. llow the heating system to operate for a full day or more. correct anticipator setting should maintain the temperature within 1 F. oo frequent cycling of the heating system can result in lower life expectancy for the heating system. ake anticipator adjustments in 0.1 amp increments at a time. Place the -FF-CL switch into the CL position FF CL 2. djust the temperature lever until the indicator is at least 3 below the room temperature. he air conditioning system should turn on within a few seconds. 3. Put the -FF-CL switch into the position. FF CL 5. djust the temperature lever until the indicator is at least 3 above the room temperature. he heating system should turn on within a few seconds. 6. Put the -FF-CL switch into the FF position. he heating system should turn off. he fan may continue to run for a short period of time. FF CL 7. Put the FN U-N switch to the N position. he blower fan should turn on. N U 8. Put the FN U-N switch to the U position. he blower fan should turn off.
