4 DESCRIPTION MERRILL MFG Europe, offers a selection of permanent or removable yard and wall taps. The automatic drain feature is standard on these models, PREVENTING OUTSIDE TAPS FROM FREEZING. All the taps are practical, robust, easy to install and easy to service.

5 HOW IT WORKS The water stays in the water main «protected from the frost, under ground or in a building» until you open the tap, allowing the water to flow through. The principle is the same for the yard and wall taps. The depth of the water main depends on your region and climate. For example, in Florida, 30 cm bury depth is enough while in the north of Canada 3 meters is recommended.

6 OPEN HOW IT WORKS 1-LEVER 1 The LEVER (1) will move the ROD (2) connected to the PLUNGER (3) and close the DRAIN (4) when the lever is in the open position (UP) allowing the water to flow through the BY-PASS(6). 1 CLOSED As soon as you shut off the water, by pushing the lever (DOWN), the purge will open and DRAIN AUTOMATICALLY preventing water from staying in the pipe and causing it to burst in freezing temperatures. ROD 2 DRAIN 4 BY-PASS(6) THE USER HAS WATER AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND. 8 MERRILL C1000 SERIES Quality, Features and Benefits (1) A: Lever Control* operates by cam principle and pulls straight up on operating rod, provides variable flow from trickle to full flow without lock to hold lever. Benefit - Variable flow with no lock that can rust in place. B: Draw Straps are made of 1040 hot rolled steel which is much harder (Brinell 175/200) and stronger, greatly reduces wear of straps and eliminates side pull on operating rod. Nothing in head assembly to disconnect or adjust when removing, simply unscrew entire head assembly from galvanized pipe and pull up valve stem with plunger for inspection. 13 MERRILL SELF-CLOSING YARD TAP The principle of this yard tap is very simple, once installed. To open the water, push the head downward and the water will flow through the tap. As soon as you release the pressure, it will shut off automatically, self-draining itself below the frost level. It can be locked in the open or closed position with a padlock. By removing the brass pin, it will always shut off automatically. Once installed, the head of the tap should be about 80cm above ground. The connection should be done below the frost line of your region. 18 THE HIDE-DRANT: DESCRIPTION THE HIDE-DRANT IS THE PERFECT PRODUCT WHEN YOU NEED ONE OR SEVERAL TEMPORARY WATER POINTS FOR PUBLIC OR PRIVATE USE. THE SYSTEM IS COMPOSED OF ONE OR SEVERAL BASES INSTALLED WHERE NEEDED, FOR PARK MAINTENANCE, CLEAN UP, ETC. YOU JUST NEED TO INTRODUCE THE STAND PIPE IN THE BASE, TURN IT APROXIMATIVELY TWICE CLOCK WISE, AND THE WATER IS OPENED. THE 3 RD TURN IS TO ADJUST THE DIRECTION OF THE FAUCET.

21 MERRILL HIDE-DRANT Quality, Features and Benefits 1 Sanitary Yard Tap approved in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois the toughest/ most restrictive states in the U.S. Benefit - Only reasonably priced sanitary hydrant. Also the most trouble free, no flow time required. 2 Frost Proof when used correctly, simply turn counter-clockwise three turns to disconnect and remove stand pipe, then drain stand pipe for freezing temperatures. Benefit - Very simple, no tools required to remove and reinstall stand pipe. 3 Stop Valve At Bottom Of Hide-Drant is automatically opened when stand pipe is reinstalled. Seals between stop valve and stand pipe holds water before valve is reopened. Stop valve available in PVC or stainless steel. Benefit - Very simple, reliable stop valve. One moving part, stainless steel spring, also designed so field repairable. 4 Outlet Can Be In Any Direction by simply pivoting outlet counter-clockwise to direction desired, approximately three revolutions needed to remove stand pipe. Do NOT over tighten stand pipe by forcing clockwise revolution of outlet. Benefit - Only tap that allows outlet to be in any direction, no tools required - pivots by hand. 5 Non-Corrosive Construction to insure a long operating life, stop valve available in PVC or stainless steel and other components are made of non-corrosive materials. Benefit - Quality, non-corrosive construction for years of service. 6 Bottom Case has one way flapper drain to remove any spilled water in case, plus cover over drain on outside of case protects drain from backfill. Benefit - Helps bottom case and stop valve to stay sanitary. 7 No Tools Required (After initial installation) tap riser pipe can be removed and reinstalled in seconds with only a few turns. Do not use tools. 8 Removable Riser Pipe so you can mow right over the bottom case and improves appearance of landscape for additional applications. 9 No Lead/California Compliance models available in both yard hydrant and straight models, that are No-Lead for California. WARNING: This tap must have the stand pipe removed and water drained out of pipe when freezing temperatures may be present. 24 The Wall Tap The simple principle of this faucet saves time to the installer and allows the user to have water all year long without having to worry about draining the outside taps. When you open the water outside, the water flows through the tap. From the water main inside the house (in a frost free environment), and when you close it, the water remaining in the tap will automaticaly drain itself by the front of the tap. 28 MERRILL WALL TAP Installation Instructions Install wall tap as shown using the Beveled Wedge supplied with MF Series and available for MA Series to achieve a downward slope. NOTE: The wall tap must be installed with downward slope from inlet to outlet and hose must be removed in freezing weather to allow tap to drain if not done, the wall tap may freeze and be split by expanding ice, and warranty is voided.
