1 No. 001/2013 Generation 6000 brings greater elegance, versatility and convenience to the kitchen / Two new design lines in 4 colours Miele to present completely new cooking appliance range at LivingKitchen Gütersloh/Cologne, January 14, LivingKitchen is to be the stage for the unveiling of a completely new generation of built-in appliances from wall ovens, steam cookers, coffee machines and microwave ovens to cooker hoods (Generation 6000). Innovative user interfaces make the use of these machines simpler than ever before. Thanks to a whole host of unique selling propositions, Miele's kitchen appliances are now more convenient, faster and much more efficient. Centrepiece at this world premiere will be two elegant design lines, each cultivated to harmonise with different kitchen styles. Motto: 'Design for Life'. PureLine harmonises with architectural styles ranging from purist to contemporary by unpretentiously integrating into kitchen cabinetry. In a scenario like this, the kitchen itself is the hero in an artistic presentation in which individual elements bow to the bigger picture by avoiding lavish detail. The extensive use of glass in the frontage of appliances constitutes one of the key features of the PureLine range. On the other hand, the solid appearance of the appliance handle represents a striking feature which appears to float above the glass front. ContourLine clearly distinguishes itself from PureLine. Although, here too, the glass fascia with its integrated controls sets new emphasis, the key differentiating characteristic is the large proportion of stainless steel, used for example to create a frame around the oven door. The machine handle appears to be an integral part of this frame and takes in the entire width of the unit. ContourLine guides the attention of the viewer towards the built-in appliances making a bold statement in kitchens ranging from contemporary to traditional, typically characterised by a wealth of detail exuding a homely atmosphere. 2 No. 001/2013 _ Page 2 Each design line in itself offers a stock of appliances which spans product categories, uniting them through their use of design features. These include the pushbutton array with key integrated functions such as On/Off and 'Back' as well as the centred display. In their entirety, these design traits produce a 'fleet' design across the entire range. Model combinations, whether panoramic or vertical, appear to come from the same mould. Even models with rotary controls combine effortlessly with touch-control units. New colours: Obsidian black and Havana brown The PureLine and ContourLine design concept includes new front colours. Alongside familiar Miele colours and surfaces such as CleanSteel stainless steel and Brilliant white, newcomers like Obsidian black and Havana brown offer increased choice. Obsidian black is characterised by great depth of colour and brilliance. Havana brown is a contemporary colour which allows coherent combinations in both new-build kitchens and as slot-in replacements. With the new Generation 6000 from Miele, interfacing with built-in appliances has never been simpler. Customers can select from various user interfaces to best suit their personal preferences. A new highlight is represented by M Touch controls. M Touch stands for a high-resolution TFT display (thin-film transistor) on flagship models, reminiscent of smart phones and tablet PCs. The menu is browsed by swiping or scrolling with the tip of a finger. Functions and menu options appear in brilliantly clear black letters on a white background. Exclusive to Miele: MultiSteam, CupSensor, FlexiLight With the Generation 6000, Miele has refined numerous technical details and put in much work on the concept as a whole. Outstanding examples of this are MultiSteam technology on steam cookers, the CupSensor on built-in coffee machines and FlexiLight on refrigeration appliances. MultiSteam is the highlight on the new Miele steam cookers. This technology is predestined for use on models with a large-volume cabinet: Water from the tank is pumped into a powerful steam generator located behind the inner cabinet. The steam is admitted through 8 inlet ports (6 on combination steam ovens). Benefit: Heat-up times are short and the fast, uniform distribution of steam paves the way for perfect results. MultiSteam technology is a Miele USP and, as such, immediately recognisable.

3 No. 001/2013 _ Page 3 Steam ports are integrated into a module on the rear panel. The MultiSteam symbol and the Miele logo are discreetly illuminated by LEDs (depending on the model). The fascinating CupSensor feature is the highlight of the new flagship built-in coffee machines. This feature automatically adjusts the height of the spout to the size of cup or glass. No matter whether tall latte macchiato glass or delicate espresso cup with the CupSensor rim detection, delivery is always from the ideal position. This virtually eliminates the problem of spluttering and milk and coffee splashes. Furthermore, the crema is perfect and coffee does not cool down as fast. The CupSensor even reacts precisely to beverages made with milk froth by raising the spout by 1 cm after delivering milk froth, to ensure that the spout itself stays clean. The Generation 6000 product family also comprises new built-in refrigerators. These models (K series) are set to produce a wow effect when the door is opened, thanks to the exclusive FlexiLight glass-edge lighting. LED light sources, affixed to the front edge of glass shelves, immerse the cabinet in a pleasant and uniform light. Each individual shelf has electrical contacts, allowing FlexiLight shelves to be repositioned effortlessly within the unit. This is practical in particular when space has to be created for, say, a large gateau. Generation 6000 from Miele will be available in Germany from May Miele at the LivingKitchen Miele will be presenting more than 200 new built-in Generation 6000 appliances on an area covering more than 1000 m² (Hall 4.1). The exhibition motto is 'Design for life'. The presentation by the premium manufacturer from Gütersloh will, as expected, focus on ambience and the joys of life in an event-type atmosphere. Trade visitors and end-users will be able to witness the new cooking appliances in action and are invited to savour diverse titbits produced using Miele machines. This fingerfood will be freshly prepared by Miele Table Artists, an association of independent cookery schools with which Miele cooperates. The Miele Café, now a traditional fixture at Miele trade show events and able to seat 175, will set the scene during fair days for negotiations with dealers.

4 No. 001/2013 _ Page 4 In the evening hours, it will be transformed into a lounge with an impressive atmosphere, allowing visitors to bring their day at the show to a pleasant close with good food and music. In order to create the right atmosphere, the cooking stage will metamorphose into a cocktail bar. The Miele booth also includes a training room able to seat 50, providing an ideal setting for the main new products and features to be presented to dealers in a compelling and entertaining manner.
