PELLET BOILER PP27A G3 Instructions for use, maintenance and installation December, 2015 Petrič d.o.o. 1

We thank you for the trust that you ve shown us by purchasing the PP 27A furnace. We ask that you read the instructions for use before attempting to install and use your PP 27A pellet boiler. The combustion devices (hereinafter referred to as the pellet boiler or the boiler ) built by PETRIČ d.o.o. (hereinafter referred to as the PP 27A ) are designed and tested in accordance with the safety requirements laid out in the applicable European directives. The instructions are intended for the end-users, the installers and the authorized service personnel of the PP 27A pellet boiler. If you have any doubts in connection with the instructions for use, or if you require any clarification, please contact the manufacturer or an authorized PETRIČ d.o.o. representative. Printing out, translating or reproducing the instructions for use, even partially, may only be done upon obtaining an approval from the PETRIČ d.o.o. company. The amount of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) formed by proper combustion of the wood biomass inside the boiler is equal to the amount that would be emitted during the natural wood decomposition process. The amount of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) produced during the combustion or decomposition of the wood is the same as the amount of CO 2 that the tree sequestered in its lifetime, turning it into oxygen and carbon. By contrast, the use of non-renewable energy sources (wood char, heating oil, gas) emits vast quantities of CO 2 that had been accumulated through millions of years, thereby contributing to the greenhouse effect. 8 5. RESPONSIBILITIES 5.1. MANUFACTURER S RESPONSIBILITY By supplying these instructions, PETRIČ d.o.o. disclaims any civil or criminal liability arising directly or indirectly from the following: an accident due to non-compliance with the standards and specifications laid out in these instructions; accidents due to disallowed and inappropriate operation by the user; accidents due to modifications and repairs that were not authorized by the manufacturer, PETRIČ d.o.o.; poor maintenance; unforeseen situations; accidents due to the use of non-original or unsuitable spare parts. PETRIČ d.o.o. shall not be held liable for any reimbursement of costs due to direct or indirect damage caused by the product or connected to the product USER S RESPONSIBILITY The user must observe the following during the operation of the boiler: the boiler should only be operated by a suitably trained adult person who is familiar with the instructions regarding the boiler operation; with the exception of the trained operator and the authorized boiler service personnel, or adults authorized by the service personnel, no other person should be allowed in the vicinity of the boiler; the pellet boiler must be used according to the instructions laid out in the Instructions for Use, Maintenance and Installation and in compliance with all the local regulations valid at the site of the installation of the pellet boiler; the boiler should be fuelled exclusively with wood pellets with the required properties, as specified later in the text; every time before starting the boiler, the operator must verify the electric power supply of the boiler and the sealing of the chimney and chimney connectors; the operator must also visually inspect the boiler to see if it s in a suitable condition for start up. only remove the ash from the boiler when both the boiler and the ash are at the same temperature as the room where the boiler is installed (otherwise burns may occur); clean the boiler using non-flammable cleaning agents only; the ash from the boiler should only be disposed of and stored in a non-flammable container with a lid, in order to prevent ignition; it is forbidden to keep or store flammable or explosive substances in the room where the boiler is installed; the maximum permissible temperature of the water in the boiler is 80 C; the minimum temperature of the water in the boiler during operation should not be lower than 55 C, in order to prevent flue condensation in the boiler; if there is a danger of explosion, fire or a gas leak, do not start the boiler; when shutting the boiler off, observe the shutting off instructions later in the text; never extinguish the boiler forcefully, such as by pouring or loading any kind of substance into any part of the boiler or the chimney connector. Register the boiler to concessionaires to implement the chimney-sweeping service *User is obliged by the law to register the pellet boiler to chimney-sweeping service that review the device and chimney connector *depends of state law Petrič d.o.o. /

5.3. INSTALLERS RESPONSIBILITY The installer s responsibilities include: checking the pipes, the plumbing, the air supply and all the fixtures required for the installation of the pellet boiler; ensuring that the boiler is installed in compliance with the local regulations valid at the site of the installation. The installer must check the following: the type of the machine they are installing; the suitability of the installation site of the unit, that is, the minimum acceptable size of the room where the pellet boiler is to be installed; the manufacturer s instructions regarding the combustion device that pertain to the flue gas exhaust requirements; the inner diameter of the chimney; the material used in its construction; whether it is straight, that is, has a uniform surface; and that it is not obstructed; the height and the vertical extension of the chimney; whether the chimney has a cap of suitable durability; the sealing performance of the chimney connection from the boiler to the chimney; the possibility of an external air inlet; If the results of the checks mentioned above are positive, the installation may be commenced. Carefully follow the instructions supplied by the manufacturer, as well as the applicable safety and fire safety standards. After the installation has been completed, the installer must provide the buyer with the following: the manufacturer s Instructions for Use, Maintenance and Installation (if they re not already included with the unit); the documentation required by the applicable standards. The installer takes full responsibility for the installation. Petrič d.o.o. /

6. PICKING THE BOILER UP; TRANSPORTATION AND INSTALLATION 6.1. PICKING THE BOILER UP Waiting to be picked up at the manufacturer s premises, the boiler is fully packaged, protected with cardboard and plastic foil and set on a wooden base (a pallet) to facilitate transport. The Instructions for Use, Maintenance and Installation are inside the boiler TRANSPORTING AND MOVING THE PELLET BOILER From the time of picking the boiler up, all the transportation and movements are done on your own responsibility. Take care of your safety when moving the boiler. WHEN TRANSPORTING AND MOVING THE BOILER, YOU MAY ONLY USE ACCESSORIES WITH SUFFICIENT LOAD BEARING CAPACITY. AVOID JERKY AND/OR SUDDEN MOVEMENTS OF THE BOILER. 7. INSTALLATION The responsibility for the installation tasks performed on-site lies solely with the buyer. Before the boiler installation both installation place and chimney connection must be reviewed and confirmed by the Chimney-sweeping service. Before beginning the installation, the installer must check all the safety standards required by law and in particular the following: that the norms regarding pellet boiler installations conform to the local, national and European norms; that the requirements in this document are observed; that the plumbing and the air supply are suitable for the type of installation; that no temporary electrical connections have been carried out using uninsulated cables; that the electrical system is properly grounded; that personal protective equipment has been used throughout the process, along with all the protections required by law; that sufficient room is left to enable maintenance, in accordance with these instructions (Figure 1) PLACEMENT When placing the boiler at the final location, consider the following: if the walls and/or the floor in the vicinity are covered with a material that is not heat resistant, it is necessary to provide appropriate protection using non-flammable insulation; maintain a safe distance (c. 50 cm) between the pellet boiler and any furniture, appliances, etc; in order to protect floors made of flammable materials, we recommend placing a metal sheet of 3 to 4 mm thickness underneath the boiler; it should exceed the boiler depth by at least 30 cm in the front; storing flammable substances in the room where the boiler is installed is forbidden; The pellet boiler should be installed at least 50 cm away from the walls, in order to ensure a sufficient supply of air and facilitate access in case servicing is required; Petrič d.o.o. /

Figure 1 if the pellet boiler is installed in a kitchen where there are other devices that are drawing air off (e.g. an exhaust hood, various vent fans, etc.) or in a room with other solid fuel combustion devices (e.g. a solid wood boiler, etc.), make sure that the volume of air supplied is sufficient for the safe operation of the combustion device; if the flue gas exhaust is routed through the ceiling, the penetration must be insulated with a non-flammable insulation membrane; Once the boiler is positioned, it has to be levelled using levelling screws. Take care when considering the load bearing capacity of the floor; you have to take into account not only the boiler itself but also a hopper full of pellets and a boiler full of water! Petrič d.o.o. /

7.2. WASTE MANAGEMENT DISPOSE OF THE PACKAGING MATERIAL IN A WAY THAT KEEPS IT OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. THE BAG, FOIL, POLYSTYRENE, ETC. PRESENT A RISK OF SUFFOCATION. After the boiler has been installed, the remaining packaging materials should be handled in accordance with applicable local regulations valid at the installation site FLUE GAS EXHAUST The flue gas exhaust must be implemented in accordance with the applicable regulations. Only stainless steel may be used for the flue gas exhaust. The flue gas piping must not be joined together with the exhaust pipes of any other combustion devices. Routing the flue gas exhaust into enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces, such as, for instance, a garage, a narrow passage or corridor, an underpass, or any other similar spaces, is not permitted. When the connection between the boiler and the chimney connector is made, the chimney expert should verify that the chimney connector has not been damaged or punctured and that it s sealing properly. If the chimney connector is found unsuitable, its cladding has to be replaced with new, intact material and the connector must subsequently be re-approved by the relevant authority. The flue gas exhaust should be grounded according to the applicable regulations. (The ground connection implementation is dictated by the law). The ground connection must be independent from the boiler unit. As regards the dimensions and the construction material, the chimney must be fully compliant with all the applicable standards valid in the area of installation. Chimneys in poor condition and/or those constructed from unsuitable materials (asbestos, galvanized steel sheeting, etc., with rough or porous surface) contravene the law and endanger the operation of the boiler. The smoke may also be exhausted using a traditional chimney (see the figure below), provided that the following rules are followed: the chimney s state of maintenance is inspected. If the chimney is old, it is advisable to renovate it by inserting a stainless steel pipe, properly insulated with glass wool or vermiculite. To ensure proper maintenance and/or a suitable renovation, seek the help of a chimney sweeping service; the smoke may only be routed directly into a chimney in cases where the chimney is at most 20 x 20 cm or 20 cm in diameter and equipped with an inspection opening; if the chimney is larger than that, an appropriately insulated stainless steel pipe of sufficient diameter must be inserted; For chimney diameter 20cm should be install the condensation drain or used the type of the chimney with condensation tank. make sure that the chimney connection is properly sealed; avoid contact with flammable materials (such as, for instance, partially burned wood stubs); in any case, there must be flame-resistant protection. Key: A) Wind-proof protection cap B) Maximum dimensions 20 x 20 cm or 20 cm diameter, maximum height 5-6 m C) O-ring D) Inspection opening E) Condensate drain F) The access gully Figure 2 Due to the high efficiency of the boiler the flue gas temperature at the exit of the boiler are relatively low. This may often occur the condensation of the flue gases in the chimney. Modern chimneys are usually all equipped with condensation containers-tanks, it makes sense and is recommended over the gully to connect with a drain system. Petrič d.o.o. /

The diameter of the pipe depends on the power of the pellet boiler. This pellet boiler is designed for pipes of 100 mm diameter. If you need to use pipes of 120 mm diameter, mount a 100 mm diameter T- junction onto the boiler and then use a reducer Ø100/Ø120 mm. Key: A) Vermiculite and/or glass wool B) Aluminium pipes C) Cover plate Figure 3 When using connectors between the pellet boiler and the chimney, you are required to use a T-junction with an inspection opening looking directly into the boiler, or an elbow with a cleaning hatch. A T- junction must facilitate collecting the ash that accumulates at the bottom of the pipe, as well as regular cleaning, without requiring the disassembly of the piping. The smoke in the chimney connector is under slight pressure, so it is necessary to verify that the ash cleaning cover is hermetically closed and that it remains so after every cleaning. Make sure that the assembly was carried out correctly and check the gasket condition. It is recommended to avoid long horizontal runs of the pipes leading to the chimney. If this is not possible, the pipes should not slope downwards, but upwards, at an angle of at least 5%. A horizontal pipe run should not exceed 3 m in length. It is not recommended to run a pipe directly from the pellet boiler to the chimney with a horizontal pipe longer than 1 m. Petrič d.o.o. /

SAFETY WARNING The flue gas exhaust MUST NOT BE CONNECTED: to exhaust ducts used by other combustion devices (boilers, stoves, fireplaces, etc.); to vent systems (caps, vent fans, etc.); using flexible piping. The installation of draft control valves is forbidden! Chimney connection using the 100 mm diameter pipe between the pellet boiler and the chimney should satisfy the following: no more than 6 m in total length; every 90 elbow joint shortens the permissible maximum length of the chimney connection by 1 m; the length of the installed connector should be 3 m at most; every elbow should be equipped with a hatch to enable cleaning; the joints between the pipe segments must be sealed; when mounting the chimney connector to the boiler, keep it as short and stable as possible; the chimney connector pipes longer than 1 m should be fixed properly, so that they don t loosen; a chimney connector that is more than 1 m in total length should be fixed properly, so that it doesn t loosen; all the chimney connector parts have to be removable and have to enable interior inspection. The total draft depends primarily on the chimney, which must contain no obstructions, which include, for instance, constrictions and/or various angled connections. It is recommended to only use pipe elbows at an angle of 45 at most; it s better yet to use an angle of 30. In any case, it is imperative to ensure an initial vertical, straight pipe run of at least 1.5 m length, this is the only way to ensure proper removal of flue gases. If the draft in the exhaust system is poor (numerous elbows, inappropriate termination, constrictions, etc.), this is due to the obstructions just listed. In such a case, the flue gas exhaust will not be optimal, necessitating the adjustment of the pellet boiler parameters in order to adapt the boiler operation to its exhaust system. This may only be carried out by an authorized person. The system of flue gas exhaust from the pellet boiler works on the basis of negative pressure and the barely detectable pressure of the exhaust pipe. It is very important for the flue gas exhaust to be hermetically sealed. It is necessary to analyse the layout and structure of the space where the chimney is located. In case it s routed through a wall and/or the roof, it has to be integrated properly and in accordance with fire safety standards; it also requires approval by the relevant authorities. Petrič d.o.o. /

7.4. AIR SUPPLY The air from the room that is necessary for complete combustion must be replaced with fresh air, either through an opening in the wall, a slit in the boiler room door, or an open window. This will improve the combustion and ensure a lower pellet consumption. It is advisable to perform regular inspections of the air supply ducts, as this is the only way to make sure that sufficient air is supplied to the combustion chamber. To implement an external air intake or external air supply, you need a 110 mm diameter pipe with a maximum length of 10 m. Every 90 elbow joint shortens the permissible maximum length of the air supply line by 1 m; If the air supply pipe is longer than that, its diameter must be increased. If a grate mounted on the facade is used, the opening for the draft has to be at least 100 cm². The opening for the fresh air supply must be equipped with a grill to protect it from rain, wind and insects. The opening must be made in the external wall of the room where the pellet boiler is installed (Figure 4). Figure 4 DANGEROUS It is forbidden to supply the air from a storage space containing flammable materials or a space where a fire might start. If there are other combustion devices located in the same room, the volume of air supplied must be sufficient to support complete combustion in all the combustion devices. Petrič d.o.o. /

7.5. ELECTRICAL GRID CONNECTION The combustion unit requires an electrical connection. Our pellet boilers are equipped with a medium temperature power supply cable. If the power supply cable is damaged and needs to be replaced, call our repair service. DANGEROUS Before you begin with the electrical connection, make sure: the electrical wiring characteristics fit the requirements listed on the combustion device; that the flue gas exhaust is grounded according to the applicable regulations and local directives (the ground connection implementation is dictated by the law); the power supply cable must never reach a temperature higher than 80 above ambient. If you wish to connect the boiler directly to the electrical grid, insert a bipolar switch with contact point spacing of at least 3 mm, suitable for use with the required voltage and in compliance with applicable regulations. Yellow/green striped grounding cable must be interrupted with the switch. The bipolar switch must be accessible at all times, even after the boiler has been installed. The machine operates on 220 V 50 Hz. Make sure that the electric cables are not routed under the boiler, that they are far enough from hot surfaces and that they are not touching any sharp parts that could damage them. If the voltage supplied to the boiler is too high, the life expectancy of the electrical components is substantially reduced. The pellet boiler must be connected to the electrical grid. The power supply cable for the boiler is marked Napajanje. The other cable is for the connection of the pump; it is marked Črpalka. DANGEROUS If the power supply cable is damaged, it needs to be replaced. Only an authorized person may replace it, and the connection of the boiler to the electrical grid may likewise only be performed by an expertly trained person! The electrical connection has to be easily accessible even after the boiler has been installed. Petrič d.o.o. /

7.6. CONNECTING THE BOILER TO THE HEATING WATER CIRCUIT DANGEROUS The connection of the boiler to the heating water circuit may only be performed by a suitably trained installer. The joints and connections of the pipes should not leak (guaranteed water-tightness). The connection should be carried out according to the following procedure (see chapter 19. and 22): connect the cold water line of the heating water circuit to the connector marked Hladna voda ; connect the hot water line of the heating water circuit to the connector marked Topla voda ; the filling line for the boiler should be connected to the connector marked Polnilni priključek. To assess connections for»hot«and»cold«water it is necessary to remove the service panel with keyboard»a«and then connect both line:»hot«water with connector»bcold«water with connector»c«connection is carried out through the side slots which have been previously removed. (See Figure 5) Figure 5 Return water protection system For proper operation of the boiler, return water temperature should be min.55 C. This is achieved by using water protection system shown in Chapter 22 on page 44. Petrič d.o.o. /

8. FIRST START OF THE BOILER The first start of the boiler may only be performed by an authorized person; otherwise, the warranty is voided. After starting the boiler for the first time, an operation test of at least 30 minutes duration has to be performed INSTRUCTIONS FOR PERSON, ANIMAL AND PROPERTY SAFETY We would like to inform the installer about some general guidelines that need to be followed, if the pellet boiler is to be installed correctly. Those are the standards required, but they are not sufficient; for more in-depth information, you have to read the rest of the Instructions for Use, Maintenance and Installation. Connect the pellet boiler to the electrical grid; do not allow children and animals to approach the boiler; do not use any fuel other than high quality pellets; inform all users about possible risks and dangers and teach them how to use the pellet boiler; if the pellet boiler is set on a wooden floor, it is advisable to insulate it. DANGEROUS The pellet boiler operates by maintaining a negative pressure in the combustion chamber, so make sure that the flue gas exhaust is SEALED, BOTH THERMALLY AND AGAINST SMOKE EMISSION. When the boiler has been ignited for the first time, part of the paint that the boiler is coated with evaporates*, so it is essential that you ventilate the room afterwards. (*because of stabilization after the painting process) Mandatory measurement of flue gases emission In the first start-up of the boiler it is mandatory to carry out emission measurements of flue gases which can be performed by an authorized service technician or the concessionaire for the chimney-sweeping services. Petrič d.o.o. /

9. SAFETY WARNING 9.1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR THE MAINTAINERS Before complying with the safety regulations the maintainer must: always use safety devices and individual safety equipment in accordance with the 89/391/EEC directive; disconnect the electrical power supply before starting any work; always use suitable tools; make sure, before starting any work on the boiler, that both the boiler and the ash inside are cold, especially before touching either; CONSIDER THE BOILER UNUSABLE IF EVEN A SINGLE SAFETY DEVICE IS FAULTY, INCORRECTLY REPAIRED OR MALFUNCTIONING! Make no changes of any kind, for any reason, except as allowed and/or approved by the manufacturer or an authorized person; always use original spare parts; don t wait for a part of the boiler to become worn before replacing it. Replacing a worn part before it breaks down helps prevent injuries due to a sudden break-down of a component; such injuries may seriously endanger persons and/or their property. Check for any condensation that would suggest water infiltration or the cooling of flue gases. We recommend finding out the cause for the condensation, so that normal boiler operation can be re-established SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR THE USER The space where the pellet boiler is to be located, or the installation site, must comply with local, national and European norms. The pellet boiler is a combustion device. Certain external boiler surfaces may reach very high temperatures during operation. The pellet boiler is designed to burn only wood pellets (pellets of 6 mm diameter and 30 mm length, with humidity content up to 10%). Children must not approach the boiler during operation and play with it! When using the combustion device, comply with the following: DO NOT approach and do not touch the combustion chamber door during the operation of the boiler, as there is a DANGER OF BURNS! DO NOT approach and do not touch the chimney connection during the operation of the boiler, as there is a DANGER OF BURNS! DO NOT clean any parts of the combustion device during the operation of the boiler! Do not open the combustion chamber door during the operation of the boiler; proper combustion requires the combustion chamber door to be hermetically sealed. DO NOT remove ash during the operation of the boiler! DO NOT allow children and animals to approach the pellet boiler! OBSERVE THE REQUIREMENTS IN THIS DOCUMENT! Use exclusively wood pellets compliant with the specifications laid out later in the text! Petrič d.o.o. /

Observe the maintenance instructions! DO NOT use the pellet boiler in case of incorrect operation or other abnormalities, unusual sounds and/or suspicious malfunctions! The combustion chamber contains rotating parts that can injure you! DO NOT spill water over the boiler and do not use water to extinguish the flames in the combustion chamber! DO NOT lean on the boiler, as it might be unstable and tip over! DO NOT use the pellet boiler as a support or fasten other objects to it! DO NOT leave the hopper cover open! DO NOT touch the painted parts of the boiler during its operation! DO NOT use wood or wood char in the pellet boiler! DO NOT use the boiler as an incinerator! Always ensure complete safety! 10. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE IGNITION AND CLEANING OF THTHE BOILER INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE IGNITION NEVER use heating oil, lamp oil or any other oil, nor any other flammable liquid to ignite the pellet boiler. Keep all such liquids far away from the boiler during its operation. Make sure that the pellet boiler stands securely and that it doesn t move. Verify that you have closed the combustion chamber door properly and that it is closed during the operation of the boiler. Only vacuum clean the ash when the pellet boiler is cold. Do not use abrasive agents to clean the pellet boiler REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING OF THE BOILER The pellet boiler is equipped with an automatic heat exchanger scrubbing device and a device for automatic removal of ash from the combustion chamber. Despite the automatic ash removal we recommend regular inspection and, if necessary, cleaning of the combustion vessel or the chamber. It bears keeping in mind that ash is an insulator and that a poorly cleaned boiler will lead to higher pellet consumption, as well as a higher chance of malfunctions. When using pellets that comply with the specifications laid out later in the text, the ash container needs to be emptied either once per month, or once per every 3-4 hoppers worth of pellets burned, but this is not a rule! The rate of ash accumulation in the boiler depends on several different factors, so we recommend paying special attention to the ash build-up after the commencement of boiler operation. The use of a vacuum cleaner with a dust separator will simplify the cleaning of the ash from the boiler. Before starting any maintenance, including any cleaning, observe the following safety measures: Safety warning Always make sure that the pellet boiler and the ash within are cold! Turn off the pellet boiler before starting any work! Vacuum the ash from the combustion chamber whenever you empty the ash container; vacuum and carefully clean the combustion vessel whenever you empty the ash container (only when the boiler is cold) Petrič d.o.o. /

Figure 6 shows the combustion vessel or cup, which is where the pellet combustion takes place. When you restore the combustion vessel back to its place, make sure that it s set down correctly; this is the only way to ensure the correct operation of the boiler.5 WARNING! Check the braided gasket under the rim of the combustion vessel for any damage. If the braided gasket is damaged, seek the help of an authorized service shop. If you need any clarifications, do not hesitate to call your installer. In no case will the manufacturer be held liable for any damage caused by a third party. Figure 6 The combustion chamber must always be emptied of any remains from the pellet combustion. Never put the pellets that did not burn back into the pellet hopper or into the ash container INSPECTION AND PARTS THAT REQUIRE MAINTENANCE CHECK THE FOLLOWING POINTS TO VERIFY THAT THE PELLET BOILER WORKS PROPERLY. THIS WAY ITS EFFICIENCY AND THEREFORE THE HEAT OUTPUT WILL BE HIGHER: Make sure that the pellet boiler and the ash within are cold. Table 2 shows the parts that require maintenance, who is responsible for the maintenance and the maintenance time interval. Table 2: The list of parts requiring maintenance Part requiring maintenance Maintainer Time interval Combustion vessel (cleaning) Owner Every time the pellet hopper is filled Petrič d.o.o. /

Ash and soot may build-up on the combustion vessel, potentially blocking the holes, which serve as the combustion air supply! In case of blockage, clean the holes and use the hatch under the combustion vessel to remove combustion debris from the burner itself. The debris falls into the lower part of the combustion chamber, where the auger expels it into the ash container. The combustion chamber door sealing and ash container door sealing is insufficient, if the door is too easy to close (no resistance is felt when closing the door). The gasket inserted in the slot on the combustion chamber door and on the ash container door eventually ceases to function properly. We recommend that you check the gasket performance before or after the heating season and that you call an authorized service shop in case of damage to any of the gaskets. The gasket must ensure a hermetical seal of the combustion chamber door and of the ash container door. Poor combustion results otherwise. The chimney flue, the chimney itself and the chimney cap need to be inspected and cleaned at the specified intervals. Seek the help of your chimney sweeper for a professional job. Petrič d.o.o. /

10.4. ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE Your pellet boiler is a heat generator used with wood pellets. Once a year it requires special maintenance performed by the authorized personnel. Tasks that have been described in the previous chapter are best performed when the heating season is over. Their intent is to check and ensure the flawless operation of all the components. 11. IMPORTANT SAFETY DATA The vendor is available for sending you any data you may need. A correct installation of the combustion device, performed in accordance with the instructions, is important to prevent poor operation, danger and fire risk. The pellet boiler operation is based on negative pressure in the combustion chamber, so you must always make sure that the chimney connection seals well. In case of a fire in the chimney, it is essential that people and animals leave the room. Immediately afterwards, the electricity must be disconnected using the master switch or plug (only if it can be done at no risk), and then the fire brigade must be called. For reasons of proper operation and safety of the pellet boiler, you must not use small pieces of chopped-up wood. Do not use the pellet boiler as an incinerator. Petrič d.o.o. /

12. FILLING THE PELLET HOPPER The boiler has a 180 kg pellet hopper built in. Before starting to fill the hopper, open the lids (Figure 7). There is a safety grid on the top of the hopper; place a pellet bag on the grid, open it and pour the pellets into the hopper. Always fill the hopper up to the top of the safety grid, which is c. 12 bags. When pouring the pellets, take care that bag scraps or other objects that could obstruct or block the pellet dispensing system do not end up in the hopper. After filling up the hopper, close the lids. Do not place any objects onto the hopper lids. The grid on the top of the hopper also has a safety function, so it should never be removed without a reason! (Figure 7a, 7b and 7c) Figure 7a Figure 7 Figure 7b Figure 7c Petrič d.o.o. /

13. FUEL ACCEPTABLE FUEL The pellet boiler is designed to use wood pellets exclusively. Since there are various types and dimensions of pellets on the market, it is important that you procure pellets that do not contain impurities. Make sure that only compact pellets that are not dusty/friable are used. Ask your pellet provider for suitable pellets. Correct operation of the boiler depends on the type and quality of the pellets. Use exclusively wood pellets with a maximum diameter of 6 mm and a maximum length of 30 mm that comply with one of the standards valid in the EU (EN 14961) or alternatively pellets of EN plus A1 quality class UNACCEPTABLE FUEL The use of any fuel other than that listed in the chapter 13.1 is not allowed. The manufacturer is not to be held liable in any case for any damage due to the use of poor quality pellets, nor for poor operation of the boiler due to the poor quality of the pellets used. Using pellets of lesser quality decreases the combustion efficiency, which leads to increased emissions and fuel consumption. Using pellets of lesser quality likewise lowers the boiler efficiency. Using pellets of lesser quality necessitates more frequent cleaning of the parts of the boiler that are in contact with the flue gases PELLET STORAGE Pellets should be stored in a dry place that is not too cold. Cold and humid pellets (with a temperature of around 5 C) reduce the thermal output and necessitate cleaning the boiler more frequently. THE PELLETS SHOULD NOT BE STORED IN THE VICINITY OF THE PELLET BOILER. Store them at least half a meter (0.5m) away. Pouring sawdust into the hopper may block the pellet dispensing system. 26 14. THE CONTROLLER Cautions Exposure to water and other liquids Do not expose the product to water, cleaning agents, solvents or other liquids, because they may damage the electronics, leading to impaired operation or product malfunction, thereby representing a danger to life. Every contact with water or some other liquid can damage the electronics, leading to impaired operation or product malfunction, thereby representing a danger to life. End-user s responsibility The user of the boiler is responsible for ensuring that the boiler is in a flawless state before starting it. Before starting the product, the user has a duty to check the following: that there are no pellets in the combustion vessel prior to ignition; that the chimney works properly. Empty battery If the controller battery is depleted and the power goes out, the control software restarts the system, when the power supply is re-established Recommendations Setting the current time Note that at the first start, it is necessary to set the current time, so that the weekly timer can activate the heating system on the desired schedule. We recommend frequent checking of the set time on the controller. Cleaning Clean the keypad by gently wiping it with a dry cloth. To remove greasy stains, use cloth that is lightly moistened with a mild detergent. Petrič d.o.o. /

14.3. Keypad Figure 8: Keypad Keypad cleanliness To ensure proper operation, the keypad must be clean. Stains (greasy fingerprints, for instance) can interfere with the operation. At the top of the Fumis ALPHA keypad, there are alarm, timer and menu indicators. The screen shows the set values or the actual values of the currently selected menu. The buttons are used to navigate the menu and operate the Fumis ALPHA control system. Table 3 describes the keypad buttons in more detail. The Fumis ALPHA keypad is equipped with a buzzer that emits sound signals for feedback when you use the keypad. The following sound signals are available: A short, high-pitched tone: beeps when you navigate the menu and change the settings A longer, low-pitched tone: sounds when an invalid operation is attempted (pressing the wrong button) A longer, high-pitched tone: can indicate a warning, sounding at a volume you can set arbitrarily; it can also indicate an error, in which case it sounds at full volume. For a description of the warnings and errors, see chapter on page 33. Petrič d.o.o. /

14.4. Menu structure Note Figure 9: Menu structure The Fumis ALPHA menu structure depends on the configuration and the additional options. Figure shows the entire menu structure with the full set of entries. Depending on the chosen configuration, some of the entries may not be available. Such an entry is excluded from the menu and the numbering of the submenus changes accordingly. The values shown on the screen are for presentation purposes only and may not reflect actual values Navigating the menus To navigate the top level menu, use the left and right arrow buttons. The screen displays the setting for the first entry in the corresponding submenu. To move up or down the submenus, use the plus and minus buttons. The menu structure shown in the picture is inverted; in reality, the submenus are directed upwards. To make navigating the submenu easier, the corresponding sequential number of a submenu entry is briefly shown on the screen, in parentheses. To change settings in the menu, press the Confirm button in order to enter the adjustment mode for the selected setting. The displayed setting blinks. To change the value, use the plus and minus buttons. To change the values in the adjustment mode by steps, use the left and right arrow buttons.
