12 Features of the product 1) The Persian Gulf transmits the energy of ultrasonic vibration from the vibrator located at the bottom of the water tank into water. 2) The ultrasonic vibration is transmitted to the medication in the medication cup through the water in the water tank. 3) The ultrasonic vibration emits medication from the medication cup (like a fountain) and this isdispersed asaerosol. 4) Air from the fan carries this nebulised medication out of the medication cup. 1. Easy to see LCD displays air volume, nebulisation rate, set time, day time and error location. The back-light illumination featured in the unit enables checking of the display in the dark. 2. There is touch sensitive surface over display. It allows easy interactive product operation. The unit has notification buzzer. The buzzer sounds when some of commands on display are touched. 3. The buzzer sounds when an error occurs or the time set of inhalation is completed. 4. With the use of touch display parameters of inhalation can be set easily and quickly. The unit can handle various inhalation therapies with the use of various optional parts.

13 How to prepare inhalation 1. Remove the nebulization chamber. Rotate clockwise medication cup cover fixing lever 4. Turn on the power button Turn on power button 11 (position 1). Introduction page will be displayed on the screen 2 for few seconds. After that basic page will be displayed. Factory set start values are 10 minutes for duration of inhalation, and minimum for air volume and nebulisation rate.

16 How to inhale Unit is operated by pressing command buttons on LCD screen. If LCD is touched in area of some of the command buttons, unit will produce short sound. This way user has not only tactile, but also audible sense of operation. Note: For long and trouble free operation please do not touch LCD screen with tip of nails or sharp objects, only with finger tip. Unit can detect two succesive pressing of LCD screen only if time between two pressings is longer than 200ms, i.e. it can not detect fast pressings. Description of icons on LCD screen Button for set up of therapy duration. Therapy duration is displayed next to the button. Button for setting air volume. 21 Cleaning and disinfection Cleaning of nebuliser Wipe any dirt from surface of nebuliser body with damp, disposable cloth. Remaining parts and accessories can be washed in solution of mild liquid detergent in warm or hot water. General advice Do not wipe the main unit with volatile chemicals, such as benzine or thinners. Do not damage the surface of the vibrator. Use surface disinfectans for disinfection. For reasons of material compatibility use disinfectans based on: aldehides quaternary ammonium compounds alcohol. Damage to parts of nebuliser may occur if disinfection is performed with materials based on: phenol compounds containing alkyl amines halogen-releasing compounds oxygen-releasing products strong organic acids. Surfaces of nebuliser and accessories: Wipe-disinfect using disposable cloth and Butaton 10 F, for instance. Follow manufacturer s instructions. Do not allow liquid to get into nebuliser. Disinfecting by disinfectant Do not immerse nebuliser into disinfectant. Medication cup holder, medication cup cover, medication cup cover sealing, inhalation hose, mouthpiece and inhalation masks can be disinfected by immersion in disinfectant. Different disinfectans have different anti-bacterial actions. Follow the instruction manual and the notes on each disinfectant. Necessary duration of parts immersion in the disinfectant differs with type of the disinfectant used. However, 30 to 60 minutes or longer is common.

22 After immersing the parts, wash them sufficiently with water and dry completely and promptly. Carefuly store the parts so that they are not reinfected. If a colored disinfectant solution such as Hibitane is used, some parts may be discolored with repeated use. However, it does not affect the nebulising properties. Disinfecting with damp heat Do not disinfect nebuliser with damp heat. Onlymedicationcupcover, medicationcupcoversealingandinhalationhosecanbedisinfectedwithdamp heat. Disinfect with damp heat (93 C / 10 minutes) in cleaning and disinfecting chamber using detergent only. Sterilizing Do not sterilize nebuliser. Only medication cup cover, medication cup cover sealing and inhalation hose can be sterilized in hot steam at 125 C in hot steam sterilizer. When parts are sterilised in an autoclave, make sure these parts do not directly contact the heater inside the autoclave. As the temperature of the heater is very high, these parts may be melted or deformed. Disinfection/cleaning at home Medication cup holder, medication cup cover, medication cup, inhalation hose and mouthpeace: Clean in warm water with detergent. Thoroughly rinse detergent with running water, and shake off excess water. Allow all parts to dry completely. Warning Be sure to immediately dry the cleaned and disinfected parts, then store them in order to prevent them from getting contaminated in the future. Miscellaneous types of bacteria may propagate and you may get infected. Do not wash the main unit with water, or splash water to the power source. Electric leakage may occur in the unit or you may suffer electric shock. Be sure to turn off the power and unplug the power plug from the electric outlet when you install, or remove the device, replace bacterial filter, fill in water, fill in medication, clean unit, repair unit or take care of the parts. You may suffer electric shock or injure yourself.

Are the air volume and the nebulisation rate set to the maximum level when the amount of medication is 150 ml? Set the medication cup correctly. Close the fan cover correctly. Remove obstacles from orificies. Wait unit to cool down. Set the medication cup correctly. Reduce the amount of medication to less than 150 ml. Adjust the bent hose correctly and drain the pooled medication. Increase the amount of medication tomorethan5ml. Reduce the amount of medication to less than 150 ml. Increase nebulisation rate by pressing "+" button on display. Operate the unit without medication for about 4 minutes, then use the unit. After cleaning the medication cup with the detergent, wash off the detergent sufficiently under running water before using the cup. Replace bacterial filter with new one. of medication Reduce the amount of medication to less than 150 ml. Adjust the nebulisation rate. If the unit does not operate normally after taking the above-mentioned measures, do not touch the internal mechanism and consult the store where you purchased the unit or the nearest Fonoun Teb Rastak dealer.

Since a suspension is a mix (not a solution!) of fine medication particles in a liquid, an ultrasonic nebuliser like the Persian Gulf will only vaporize the liquid and not the medication particles. Since high-volume ultrasonic nebulisers like Persian Gulf produce a high level of ultrasonic energy for the vaporization process, the chemical composition of (heat sensitive) anti-biotic medications may be negatively influenced. 27 Fonoun Teb Rastak Persian Gulf basic principle: Vibrator (piezo-electric transducer) generates high-frequency vibrations (approx. 1.7 Milions/sec). Vibrations are transferred through the water to the medication (water also serves as coolingagent). The strong vibrations generate a column of liquid medication ( geyser ) and small particles are produced. The small particles are administered to the patient, supported by an air flow from a fan.
